    Orbital lymphoma without systemic involvement is rarely seen in ophthalmological practice. We diagnosed one such case in our set-up. An old female presented with diplopia and proptosis right eye. CT-scan revealed an intraorbital mass along the superior orbital wall. MRI orbit showed space occupying lesion involving frontal sinus which was confirmed on histopathological and Immunohistochemical examinations. The histochemical studies confirmed the presence of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. This is a rare manifestation of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma with primary involvement of orbital mass extending into frontal sinus and cranial fossa with no systemic involvement.     Neuro-Fuzzy Based High-Voltage DC Model to Optimize Frequency Stability of an Offshore Wind Farm

    Lack of synchronization between high voltage DC systems linking offshore wind farms and the onshore grid is a natural consequence owing to the stochastic nature of wind energy. The poor synchronization results in increased system disturbances, grid contingencies, power loss, and frequency instability. Emphasizing frequency stability analysis, this research investigates a dynamic coordination control technique for a Double Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) consisting of OWFs integrated with a hybrid multi-terminal HVDC (MTDC) system. Line commutated converters (LCC) and voltage source converters (VSC) are used in the suggested control method in order to ensure frequency stability. The adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference approach is used to accurately predict wind speed in order to further improve frequency stability. The proposed HVDC system can integrate multiple distributed OWFs with the onshore grid system, and the control strategy is designed based on this concept. In order to ensure the transient stability of the HVDC system, the DFIG-based OWF is regulated by a rotor side controller (RSC) and a grid side controller (GSC) at the grid side using a STATCOM. The devised HVDC (MTDC) is simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK, and the performance is evaluated in terms of different parameters, such as frequency, wind power, rotor and stator side current, torque, speed, and power. Experimental results are compared to a conventional optimal power flow (OPF) model to validate the performance.© 2023 by the authors. Licensee MDPI, Basel, Switzerland.     Miniaturized and flexible FSS-based EM shields for conformal applications

    This article reports on very efficient and highly miniaturized wideband polygon-shaped frequency selective surface (PFSS) shields for the planar and conformal applications in the X-band. These shields have been analyzed for both lossy as well as for low-loss substrates. The conformal configurations of PFSS are particularly investigated for inward, outward, and double-curved profiles useful for a variety of applications. The conformal designs have been tested for two different radii of curvatures. The models have been simulated using a hybrid simulation approach for electrically large geometries. The equivalent circuit model as well as the analytical model are determined. The proposed PFSS designs offer stable angular response up to 60° for planar and all conformal geometries on both lossy and low-loss prototypes. Shielding effectiveness of at least 55 dB and 48 dB has been measured for flat/nonconformal and conformal configurations, respectively

    DISCUSSION ON THE REMEDIATION TECHNIQUES FOR EARTH DAMS IN KARST GEOLOGIC ENVIRONMENTS

    The placement of dams is not always by choice but by the most suitable location to meet expectations from the dam.  Common geotechnical investigations are often not to the extent necessary to design the dam and perform a full scale analysis.  Karst topography can sometimes underlay the dam and prove to be a major issue. The nature of karst topography is very complex and at times nearly impossible to model. Upon the appearance of issues developed due to karst topography it is imperative to perform a full scale geotechnical subsurface analysis within the area of the proposed dam, downstream of the dam, within the embankment of the dam, and within the reservoir itself. Upon first filling the cavities can become washed out and an increase in seepage could be observed. There are a number of techniques available for minimizing or to completely stop the seepage.  The following paper discusses common practices for grouting and treatment of seepage in case specific circumstances

    Can Different Salt Formulations Revert the Depressing Effect of Salinity on Maize by Modulating Plant Biochemical Attributes and Activating Stress Regulators through Improved N Supply?

    Salinity is a major constraint in improving agricultural productivity due to its adverse impact on various physiological and biochemical attributes of plants, and its effect on reducing nitrogen (N) use efficiency due to ion toxicity. To understand the relationship between sodium chloride (NaCl) and increased N application rates, a pot study was performed in which the ammonical (NH4+) form of N was applied as urea to maize crops at different rates (control, 160, 186, 240, 267, 293, and 320 kg N ha−1) using two salinity levels (control and 10 dS m−1 NaCl). The results indicate that all biochemical and physiological attributes of the maize plant improved with increased concentration of N up to 293 kg ha−1, compared to those in the control treatment. Similarly, the optimal N concentration regulated the activities of antioxidant enzymes, i.e., catalase activity (CAT), peroxidase activity (POD), and superoxide dismutases (SOD), and also increased the N use efficiencies of the maize crop up to 293 kg N ha−1. Overall, our results show that the optimum level of N (293 kg ha−1) improved the salinity tolerance in the maize plant by activating stress coping physiological and biochemical mechanisms. This may have been due to the major role of N in the metabolic activity of plants and N assimilation enzymes activity such as nitrate reductase (NR) and nitrite reductase (NiR)

    Studies on serum macro and micro minerals status in repeat breeder and normal cyclic Nili-Ravi buffaloes and their treatment strategies

    The present study was carried out with the objective to know the calcium (Ca), inorganic phosphorus (P), magnesium (Mg), copper (Cu), iron (Fe) and zinc (Zn) concentrations in serum of repeat breeder and normal cyclic buffaloes during oestrus. On the day of estrus, blood samples were collected from 35 buffaloes with a history of repeat breeding (RB) and 35 normal cycling (NC) buffaloes for mineral estimation. In the second part of the study, 35 repeat breeder (RBS) buffaloes were treated with a mineral mixture given orally for 10 days at the dosage rate of 150 g per day whereas other 35 repeat breeder buffaloes were given no mineral mixture (RBC). The overall pregnancy rate as well as 1st, 2nd and 3rd service pregnancy rate was calculated. The serum calcium, inorganic phosphorus, magnesium, copper, iron and zinc concentrations were significantly lower (P < 0.01) in RB buffaloes as compared to NC buffaloes. Sodium concentrations differed non-significantly between repeat breeder and normal cyclic buffaloes. Repeat breeder buffaloes (RBS) when fed orally 150 g per day of the mineral mixture for 10 days, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd service pregnancy rates were 42, 25 and 20%, while, overall pregnancy rate in these animals was 87%; whereas in repeat breeder control buffaloes, the overall pregnancy rate was 21%. In conclusion, the concentrations of macro and micro minerals were significantly lower in repeat breeder buffaloes and mineral mixtures should be added in the food stuff to improve reproductive efficiency of repeat breeder buffaloes.
