This research investigated the correlation between Programmed Learning and Metacognition of students in secondary schools of Karachi from the perspectives of secondary school teachers. Literature reported that poor academic performance, lack of interest and dis-connectivity with peers among the students was the result of poorly programmed instructions of their teachers. Literature also reported the positive correlation between Programmed Learning and the development of Metacognition of students along with qualitative changes in term of self-regulated learning, social connectivity and problem-solving skills developed for the complex real world. For this quantitative research a questionnaire bearing 15 items was developed to measure the relationship between Programmed Learning and Metacognition of secondary students from Karachi. In this research the data was collected from the private English Medium schools of District South and District Center of Karachi. The participants were secondary school males and females teachers   teaching different subjects to different age group students at secondary level.  SPSS was used to calculate descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test, correlation and Regression model to predict the relationship between Programmed Learning and Metacognition of students. This study found no significant difference in the opinion of male and female teachers about Programmed Learning and Metacognition. Also, a positive and moderate high correlation (r= .693) was found between Programmed Learning and Metacognition. This research suggested academia in Pakistan to hold more researches on Programmed Learning and Metacognition in the various settings to explore the possible avenue of teaching and learning practices in B.Ed. programs for next tier of preservice and in-service teachers

Mothers play different roles in their family which has an effect on  health and well being of all members of the family specially on children. Almost in all different societies around the world, they have been assigned to be primary care-givers to infants and children. The present study investigates the relationship of maternal care and its effects on the educational performance and health of children in Pakistan from a statistical perspective. The modeling and significance has been established by measures of association and automated linear regression

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to measure the factors affecting the performance of employee by discussing impact of employee empowerment on job satisfaction. Design/methodology/approach: Being descriptive study, survey method was adopted for data collection to find out the factors. The methodology comprised research design, Target population for the study, sampling techniques, sampling Method, sample size determination etc. Data was analyzed by using Cronbach?s Alpha, correlation and regression in SPSS software. Findings: The independent variable empowerment was weakly moderate correlated with dependent variable job satisfaction.Hence it is concluded that employee empowerment has a positive impact on the job satisfaction. Originality/value – The paper reveals there exist relationship between the performance of employee and factors affecting in employee performance in Bahawalpur. Keywords: Performance of employee, job satisfaction, training, empowerment. Paper type: Research pape

Purpose: The purpose of the study is to measure the factors affecting the use of e-learning and its effect on students on the base of three variables time, technology and workload.Design/methodology/approach: Being descriptive study, survey method was adopted for data collection to find out the factors. A sample of 100 students of Islamia University of the Bahawalpur was selected for the survey. Data was analyzed by using Cronbach?s Alpha, correlation and regression in SPSS software.Findings: From our study it is found that the independent variables, time, technology and workload have great influence on dependent variable e-learning.Keyword: e-learning, time, technology and workload.Paper type: Research paper

Epidemiology and Antibiotic Succeptibility Profile of Methicillin Sensitive Staphylococcus aureus among Livestock and Pet Animals

Staphylococcus aureus is an important zoonotic pathogen that is responsible for a variety of infectious diseases in humans and animals. The present study was designed to check the prevalence and antimicrobial resistance of MSSA from three different animal origins (bovine, caprine and pet). A total of n= 450 samples (150 each source) were collected from bovine, caprine and pets. Collected samples were subjected to S. aurues identification by microbiological examination and confirmed S. aurues isolates were put to oxacillin disk diffusion test to declare them MSSA. The MSSA confirmed isolates were subjected to various antibiotics for susceptibility profiling using Kirby Baur Disk Diffusion test. The present study found higher prevalence of MSSA from caprine origin (goat 83.33%) as compared to pet (cat 69.33%; dog 65.33%) and bovine origin (buffalo 26.66%; cattle 31.66%). The in-vitro findings of current study revealed oxytetracycline and gentamicin presented 100% efficacy against MSSA of all origins while the vancomycin presented >35%, >40% and > 65% resistance against MSSA isolated from bovine, caprine and pet origin respectively. However, ciprofloxacin was equally effective (50%) against MSSA from buffalo and cattle while >80% efficacy was noted against MSSA from cat and dogs. Linezolid and amoxicillin+ clavulanic acid were 77.78% and 66.67% sensitive to MSSA isolates from caprine milk. The present study found higher prevalence of MSSA from bovine, caprine and pet isolates with diversified pattern of susceptibility of different antibiotics from all sources

Water deficit-induced regulation of growth, gas exchange, chlorophyll fluorescence, inorganic nutrient accumulation and antioxidative defense mechanism in mungbean [Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek]

The study was conducted to appraise the influence of water deficit conditions on growth, yield, gas exchange characteristics, and antioxidative defense system in two mungbean [Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek) lines, 97001 and 97012. The plants of both lines were grown for 30 days under normal natural conditions, after which time two drought regimes [control (well-watering and 60% field capacity)] were applied. Data for various attributes were recorded after 30 days of drought application while at maturity, yield attributes were recorded. Water deficit conditions caused a considerable reduction in growth attributes, net CO2 assimilation rate, stomatal conductance, electron transport ratio, total phenolics, leaf Ca2+ and yield attributes. Imposition of water deficit conditions significantly increased leaf tocopherol contents and activity of catalase in both mungbean lines. Both lines showed a considerable variation in growth attributes, the line 97001 being better in performance compared with 97012 under water deficit conditions

    Get PDF
