Infecciones por Klebsiella pneumoniae productora de carbapenemasa tipo KPC

Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase-producing KPC, confers resistance to carbapenem antibiotics, which are important drugs in the treatment of severe bacterial infections. The aim of this study was to investigate the main infections associated with KPC-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae through a literature review. The study was carried out in a documentary, non-experimental, descriptive, and qualitative manner, with a population and sample of 68 and 27 scientific articles respectively from the following databases: Elsevier, Biomed, PubMed, Cochrane, Google Scholar, SciELO, Medline. As the main pathologies reported in hospitalized patients, urinary sepsis, pneumonia, and tracheobronchitis are found. The non-susceptibility of drugs in hospital environments, due to their inappropriate use, has driven the spread of carbapenem-resistant enterobacteria, leading to a pattern where Meropenem, Imipenem, and Ertapenem are highlighted. Among the most frequent methods for detecting KPC-producing strains are phenotypic methods (mCIM/eCIM and APB/EDTA methods), methods based on synergy between carbapenems and metallo-β-lactamase inhibitors, and molecular and proteomic methods such as mass spectrometry. The study highlights the importance of addressing antimicrobial resistance and the need for more precise and effective treatment strategies, suggesting the use of Ceftazidime/Avibactam as an effective therapeutic option for treating diseases caused by this type of microorganism.    Klebsiella pneumoniae productora de carbapenemasa tipo KPC, confiere resistencia a los antibióticos carbapenémicos, que son medicamentos importantes en el tratamiento de infecciones bacterianas graves. El objetivo de este estudio fue investigar las principales infecciones asociadas a K. pneumoniae productora de carbapenemasa tipo KPC mediante una revisión bibliográfica. El estudio se llevó a cabo de forma documental, no experimental, descriptiva y cualitativa, con una población y muestra de 68 y 27 artículos científicos respectivamente de las las siguientes bases de datos: Elsevier, Biomed, PubMed, Cochrane, Google Scholar, SciELO, Medline. Como principales patologías reportadas en pacientes hospitalizados, se encuentran la sepsis urinaria, neumonía y traqueobronquitis. La no susceptibilidad de fármacos en entornos hospitalarios, debido al uso inadecuado de estos, ha impulsado la propagación de enterobacterias resistentes a carbapenémicos, por lo que se ha observado un patrón donde se destaca a Meropenem, Imipenem y Ertapenem. Entre los métodos de detección de cepas productoras de KPC más frecuentes, se encuentran de tipo fenotípico (Método mCIM/eCIM y APB/EDTA), Métodos basados en la sinergia entre los carbapenemes y los inhibidores de las metalo-β-lactamasas, moleculares y proteómicos como espectrometría de masas. El estudio destaca la importancia de abordar la resistencia antimicrobiana y la necesidad de estrategias de tratamiento más precisas y efectivas, lo que sugiere el uso de Ceftazidima/Avibactam, como una opción terapéutica efectiva para tratar las enfermedades causadas por este tipo de microorganismo. &nbsp

Degradation of an Antibiotic from the Fluoroquinolone Group with a New Graphitic Carbon Nitride Photocatalyst

Ofloxacin (OFL), a fluoroquinolone, is an antibiotic found in hospital wastewater, groundwater, and other water bodies. Its occurrence in water results in several environmental problems, such as the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. This research is focused on determining the viability of removing and mineralizing OFL by photocatalysis under visible radiation with a graphitic carbon nitride photocatalyst (GCNP) synthesized from the pyrolysis of urea and calcium oxalate at 600°C. The photocatalyst was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Moreover, the point of zero charge (PZC) of the photocatalyst was determined, and the adsorption isotherms were obtained. The photocatalytic activity of this new material was tested with a synthetic aqueous solution of OFL (20 mg/L) exposed to visible radiation. Three pH values (5, 7, and 10) and three doses of H2O2 (41.7, 83.3, and 333.2 mg/L) were considered. The achieved mineralization was evaluated through the decrease in the content of total organic carbon (TOC). The highest degradation of OFL was 23.9% after 40 min, with an initial concentration of H2O2 of 83.3 mg/L and a pH value of 10. Experiencias en el aula: tercer encuentro de prácticas pedagógicas innovadoras.

Experiencias de profesores en su quehacer en los distintos ambientes de aprendizaje presenciales y a distancia.Para el Centro de Excelencia Docente aeiou constituye un honor presentar la publicación del Tercer Encuentro de Prácticas Pedagógicas Innovadoras en el que se destacan cuarenta trabajos de profesores de UNIMINUTO provenientes de diferentes sedes. Con este encuentro son ya tres que bajo la dirección de aeiou los profesores han compartido su quehacer en los distintos ambientes de aprendizaje presenciales y a distancia. Cada año el Centro de Excelencia Docente invita a los profesores a participar en este evento, para el 2108 además de la inscripción voluntaria por parte de cada profesor, se invitó al estudiantado a que postularan a sus profesores que consideraban eran innovadores y creativos en el cumplimiento de su función docente y se obtuvo una respuesta importante por parte de los estudiantes, que para algunos profesores resultó sorpresiva porque quizás no habían considerado que el trabajo que hacían en su ambiente de aprendizaje era diferente, fuera de lo común. Luego de una evaluación de jurados nacionales e internacionales de las prácticas presentadas y de la realización del evento, que tuvo como novedad hacerlo de forma simultánea en cuatro sedes donde UNIMINUTO tiene presencia: Buga, Ibagué, Pereira y Bogotá, se comparte la presente publicación para tener como referencia y evidencia el trabajo que los profesores hacen a diario

Este título, sugestivo por los impactos durante la situación de la Covid 19 en el mundo, y que en Colombia lastimosamente han sido muy críticos, permiten asumir la obligada superación de tensiones sociales, políticas, y económicas; pero sobre todo científicas y tecnológicas. Inicialmente, esto supone la existencia de una capacidad de la sociedad colombiana por recuperar su estado inicial después de que haya cesado la perturbación a la que fue sometida por la catastrófica pandemia, y superar ese anterior estado de cosas ya que se encontraban -y aún se encuentran- muchos problemas locales mal resueltos, medianamente resueltos, y muchos sin resolver: es decir, habrá que rediseñar y fortalecer una probada resiliencia social existente - producto del prolongado conflicto social colombiano superado parcialmente por un proceso de paz exitoso - desde la tecnociencia local; como lo indicaba Markus Brunnermeier - economista alemán y catedrático de economía de la Universidad de Princeton- en su libro The Resilient Society…La cuestión no es preveerlo todo sino poder reaccionar…aprender a recuperarse rápido.This title, suggestive of the impacts during the Covid 19 situation in the world, and which have unfortunately been very critical in Colombia, allows us to assume the obligatory overcoming of social, political, and economic tensions; but above all scientific and technological.
