    Το νεαρκτικό είδος εντόμου Zelus reinardii βρέθηκε για πρώτη φορά στην Αττική, Ελλάδα, Ευρώπη. Ο εγκλιματισμός και η φυσική ενσωμάτωση αυτού του εντόμου στην Ελλάδα μπορεί να έχουν ωφέλιμη επίδραση στον έλεγχο επιζήμιων εντόμων σε καλλιέργειες καθώς το έντομο αυτό συμπεριφέρεται ως ωφέλιμο αρπακτικό. Ωστόσο, η εγκατάσταση και εξάπλωσή του μπορεί δυνητικά να έχουν και αρνητικά αποτελέσματα καθώς πρόκειται για πολυφάγο αρπακτικό που μπορεί να τρέφεται με άλλα αρπακτικά έντομα που υπάρχουν στα οικοσυστήματα ή χρησιμοποιούνται σε προγράμματα βιολογικής αντιμετώπισης εχθρών των καλλιεργειών στη χώρα μας. Η εισαγωγή του εντόμου σε άλλες περιοχές (π.χ. Χαβάη) έδειξε τη δυνατότητά του να έχει όλους αυτούς τους οικολογικούς ρόλους.The Nearctic assasin bug species Zelus reinardii was found for the first time in Attica, Greece, Europe. This species is a generalist predator which can contribute to the control of insect pests. This is also a known predator of several biological control agents of pests. Therefore, its naturalization in Greece is potentially problematic in economic settings since the insect may act as both an intraguild and a beneficial predator. The risky nature of importation in other areas (e.g. Hawaii) showed the possibility of these ecological roles

    Pollination of several angiosperms is based on deceit. In such systems, the flowers advertise a reward that ultimately is not provided. We report on a previously unknown pollination/mimicry system discovered in deceptive Aristolochia rotunda (Aristolochiaceae). Pollinators were collected in the natural habitat and identified. Flower scent and the volatiles of insects (models) potentially mimicked were analyzed by chemical analytical techniques. Electrophysiological and behavioral tests on the pollinators identified the components that mediate the plantpollinator interaction and revealed the model of the mimicry system. The main pollinators of A. rotunda were female Chloropidae. They are food thieves that feed on secretions of true bugs (Miridae) while these are eaten by arthropod predators. Freshly killed mirids and Aristolochia flowers released the same scent components that chloropids use to find their food sources. Aristolochia exploits these components to deceive their chloropid pollinators. Aristolochia and other trap flowers were believed to lure saprophilous flies and mimic brood sites of pollinators. We demonstrate for A. rotunda, and hypothesize for other deceptive angiosperms, the evolution of a different, kleptomyiophilous pollination strategy. It involves scent mimicry and the exploitation of kleptoparasitic flies as pollinators. Our findings suggest a reconsideration of plants assumed to show sapromyiophilous pollination.(VLID)221519

A turano Mediterranean species known in the whole Europe (except Scandinavia and Baltic area), North Africa and Central Asia. The distribution of C. griseus in Turkey is poorly known because this taxon has been confused with C. aegyptius for a long time. PUTSHKOV (1987) brought evidence that C. aegyptius doesn’t exist in Europe nor in Turkey and that the records of this species in this region must be re-addressed to C. griseus.
