    This research critically examines the complex interplay between temporality and urban spaces amidst transitionary phases, with a specific focus on the metropolitan areas of Houston and Amsterdam. Recognising these cities as exemplars of urban temporal flux, the study delves into the transient nature of liminal spaces and their impact on urban dynamics and socio-political landscapes. Methodologically, this research innovates by intertwining Augmented Reality (AR) and Gamification with conventional urban studies methodologies, presenting a cutting-edge approach to examining urban temporalities. This interdisciplinary method, which integrates Design Computation, Fabrication, Urban Communities, and Spatial Justice perspectives, allows for a nuanced exploration of the transient and often elusive nature of urban spaces. Moreover, the study critically evaluates the role of Extended Reality (XR) in enhancing both theoretical and practical approaches in urban studies. By leveraging XR, the research not only provides a novel perspective on the subject matter but also redefines methodological frameworks, enabling a deeper understanding of the complexities inherent in urban transformations during transitional periods

    The Design-to-Robotic-Assembly project presented in this paper showcases an integrative approach for stacking architectural elements with varied sizes in multiple directions. Several processes of parametrization, structural analysis, and robotic assembly are algorithmically integrated into a Design-to-Robotic-Production method. This method is informed by the systematic control of density, dimensionality, and directionality of the elements while taking environmental, functional, and structural requirements into consideration. It is tested by building a one-to-one prototype, which is presented and discussed in the paper with respect to the development and implementation of the computational design workflow coupled with robotic kinematic simulation that is enabling the materialization of a multidirectional and multidimensional assembly system

    Indexing of Iranian Publications in Well-known Endodontic Textbooks: A Scientometric Analysis

    Introduction: Quoting an article in well-known textbooks is held as a credit for that paper. The numbers of Iranian publications mentioned in endodontic textbooks have increased during recent years. The aim of this investigation was to evaluate the number of Iranian articles quoted in eminent endodontic text books. Methods and Materials: Three known textbooks (Ingle’s Endodontics, Seltzer and Bender’s Dental Pulp and Cohen’s Pathways of the Pulp) were chosen and all the editions of the textbooks since 2000 were investigated for quoted Iranian publications. Only Iranian authors with affiliations from a domestic university were chosen. All references at the end of each chapter were read by hand searching, and results were noted. The trend and percentage of Iranian publications in different editions of the textbooks were also calculated. The number of citations of these publications in Google Scholar and Scopus databases were also obtained. Results: The number of Iranian publications in all well-known textbooks have notably increased since 2000. The number and percentage of Iranian publications in the latest edition of Cohen’s Pathways of the Pulp was higher compared to other textbooks as well as the previous edition of the same text. Conclusion: Number and percentage of Iranian publications in the field of endodontics in all three textbooks have remarkably increased since 2000.Keywords: Dental Pulp; Endodontics; Index; Ingle; Iranian Publications; Pathways of the Pulp; Quote; Scientometric; Textbook

    Evaluation of the relationship between serum estradiol levels on human chorionic gonadotropin administration day and intracytoplasmic sperm injection outcomes: A retrospective population-based study

    Background: The correlation between high estradiol (E2) levels induced by controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) and pregnancy is controversial. Objective: To assess the effect of serum E2 levels on the day of human chorionic gonadotropin administration on the intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) outcome. Materials and Methods: The current study included 551 participants who had undergone ICSI between May 2014 and May 2016. Based on E2 levels, the individuals aged < 37 yr (n = 502) and 37-42 yr (n = 49) were categorized into six and three groups, respectively. ICSI outcomes including the number of retrieved oocytes (NRO), number of embryos (NE), pregnancy rate, and abortion rate were analyzed in both groups. Results: Among participants aged < 37 yr, the NRO and NE were 8.69 ± 3.82 and 5.24 ± 2.32, respectively and they had a significant correlation with the E2 level on human chorionic gonadotropin administration day (p < 0.001 for both). Among participants aged > 37 yr, NRO and NE were 5.18 ± 3.17 and 3.40 ± 2.23, respectively, and the NRO (p < 0.001), NE (p < 0.001), pregnancy rate (p < 0.001), abortion rate (p = 0.007), and the number of grade A and B embryos (p = 0.003) had a significant association with the E2 level. Conclusion: COH is a costly procedure that may have negative effects on endometrial receptivity. Thus, in order to prevent these effects and also to reduce the costs of COH, we recommend gaining optimum number of oocytes rather than maximum number during the procedure.     FabriCity-XR: A Phygital Lattice Structure Mapping Spatial Justice – Integrated Design to AR-Enabled Assembly Workflow

    The research discussed in this paper centers around the convergence of extended reality (XR) platforms, computational design, digital fabrication, and critical urban study practices. Its aim is to cultivate interdisciplinary and multiscalar approaches within these domains. The research endeavor represents a collaborative effort between two primary disciplines: critical urban studies, which prioritize socio-environmental justice, and integrated digital design to production, which emphasize the realization of volumetric or voxel-based structural systems. Moreover, the exploration encompasses augmented reality to assess its utilization in both the assembly process of the structures and the integration of phygital (physical and digital) data with the physical environment. Within the context of these research scopes, this paper introduces FabriCity-XR as an interactive phygital installation. In addition to presenting an overview of the integrated research driven and performative design to production methodologies, the project showcases the practical implementation of web-based augmented reality trails, eliminating the requirement for external applications for interaction. This approach allows users to seamlessly navigate and engage with phygital content overlaid on physical objects using their personal smart devices. The result is a captivating and immersive user experience that effectively merges the physical and digital realms

    Kite-Powered Design-to-Robotic-Production for Affordable Building on Demand

    <p>Building technologies employed today in 2nd and 3rd world countries are imported, expensive, outdated and unsustainable. Highly developed countries, on the other hand, rapidly advance in developing affordable, numerically controlled and robotically supported material- and energy-efficient methods for building on demand. The research team proposes to close this gap by applying advanced design-to-robotic-production (D2RP) technologies developed at Technical University Delft (TUD) to construction problems in 2nd and 3rd world countries. The provided tool base uses refurbished robotic technology, which is retrofitted with state-ofthe-art open source control software, and by employing local approaches and available materials the dependency on imported materials and processes is drastically reduced. The D2RP unit is coupled with the electricity generating Kite Power (KP) system developed at TUD to create a mobile sustainable autarkic unit that can be deployed everywhere.</p

    Cutaneous reactions to carbamazepine in children with epilepsy

    BACKGROUND: The main components in controlling and treating seizures are antiepileptic drugs (AEDs). Mostly, the systemic side effects of these drugs are regarded very important; however, these drugs can also cause serious mucocutaneous side effects. Carbamazepine is a drug which is used to treat epilepsy. Side effects of this drug can range from skin rash to toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) and Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS). The purpose of this study was to evaluate skin complications of carbamazepine in children with epilepsy.METHODS: This study was performed on 99 children, aged 2 months to 11 years, with the diagnosis of skin complications after taking carbamazepine. Records were examined and their initial profiles including their medical skin conditions and rashes were recorded within the checklist. Data were entered into SPSS software. Measures of central tendency and dispersion were achieved. Finally, the relationship between the drug and the cutaneous reactions of these patients was analyzed using the chi-square test.RESULTS: The most common complications among the patients were maculopapular lesions and skin erythroderma, with the prevalence of 37.4% for each. Other types of skin lesions included papules with 14.1%, macules with 8.1%, and SJS with 3.0%. A significant association (P = 0.02) between the types of the skin lesion and the dose of carbamazepine was observed; the more the dosage was, the more severe skin lesions were.CONCLUSION: The most common cutaneous reactions to carbamazepine were erythroderma and maculopapular rash in the patients. The findings of this study also revealed that the lack of drug compliance was of high importance
