    Kwalifikacje i kompetencje absolwentów szkół wyższych Mazowsza - opinie uczelnianych biur karier

    The author is presenting findings of colleges conducted amongst academic career development agencies of the Masovian province as part of the project ‘‘Regional foresight for higher education institutions of Warsaw and Masovia «Academic Masovia 2030»” about the demand of employers for determined qualifications and competence of graduates of the college. She is presenting forms of assistance in planning the professional career of students and graduates, offered by career development agencies; problems, with which 1 st and 2nd degree college graduates are reporting to them and factors facilitating the work market penetration for graduates. She is also analyzing fields of cooperation of academic career development agencies with employers, the structure of the demand reported by employers for graduates of higher education institutions and the structure of interest of students and graduates in specific types of job offers. The gathered materiał shows that all graduates (of both second and first degree studies) most often need the help of career development agencies for job finding, internship or trainee-ship, while employers are rather prepared for a less active and involving cooperation, limited to placing job offers on websites and in the database of career development agencies, and to the transmission of information about the company and its needs. The placement is simpler for graduates of public colleges who finished full-time studies, especially in the Computer or technical profile. Graduated-women have much greater problems in finding their first work than men.  Over one third of academic career development agencies is confirming that it is hard for their graduates to find employment and often many-months job-hunt does not bring desired effects. The majority of offers submitted by employers is regarding temporary work -these are proposals of smali and micro companies. Meanwhile potential employees are most interested in a steady job, particularly when it is offered by a big or average company. It is noticed that for employees of career development agencies acting in: technical higher education institutions, Warsaw colleges as well as private higher education institutions do decidedly more rarely see threats connected with acquiring the work by their graduates.Autorka prezentuje wyniki badań przeprowadzonych wśród akademickich biur karier uczelni województwa mazowieckiego w ramach projektu „Foresight regionalny dla szkół wyższych Warszawy i Mazowsza «Akademickie Mazowsze 2030»” na temat zapotrzebowania pracodawców na określone kwalifikacje i kompetencje absolwentów uczelni. Przedstawia formy pomocy w planowaniu kariery zawodowej studentów i absolwentów oferowane przez biura karier; problemy, z którymi zgłaszają się do nich absolwenci studiów I oraz II stopnia oraz czynniki ułatwiające absolwentom wejście na rynek pracy. Analizuje również płaszczyzny współpracy akademickich biur karier z pracodawcami, strukturę zgłaszanego przez pracodawców zapotrzebowania na absolwentów szkół wyższych oraz strukturę zainteresowania studentów i absolwentów określonymi typami ofert pracy. Zgromadzony materiał dowodzi, że wszyscy absolwenci (zarówno studiów II stopnia, jak i I stopnia) najczęściej potrzebują od akademickich biur karier pomocy w znalezieniu pracy, stażu lub praktyki zawodowej, a pracodawcy są gotowi raczej do mniej aktywnej i angażującej współpracy, ograniczającej się do zamieszczania ofert pracy na stronach internetowych i w bazie danych biur karier oraz do przekazywania informacji o swojej firmie i jej potrzebach. Znalezienie pracy jest łatwiejsze dla absolwentów uczelni publicznych, którzy ukończyli studia stacjonarne, zwłaszcza o profilu informatycznym lub technicznym. Kobiety absolwentki mają dużo większe trudności w znalezieniu pierwszej pracy niż mężczyźni. Przeszło co trzecie akademickie biuro karier potwierdza, że ich absolwentom trudno jest znaleźć zatrudnienie i często wielomiesięczne poszukiwania pracy nie przynoszą pożądanych efektów. Najwięcej ofert składanych przez pracodawców dotyczy pracy tymczasowej - są to propozycje firm małych i mikro. Tymczasem potencjalni pracownicy najbardziej zainteresowani są pracą stałą, szczególnie gdy jest ona oferowana przez firmę dużą lub średnią. Zauważono, iż pracownicy biur karier działających w: technicznych szkołach  wyższych, uczelniach warszawskich czy też uczelniach niepublicznych zdecydowanie rzadziej widzą zagrożenia z pozyskaniem pracy przez swoich absolwentów

    The author presents the human potential of tertiary education institutions in Warsaw and Mazovia in 2006-2008. She analyses the age structure, employment structure of teaching and research staff (by positions), saturation of academic centres with academic staff. Further on, the author presents the career path of academic teachers, their academic development, the problem of working under multiple contracts of employment and in multiple institutions (very widespread among academic staff), as well as rules of compensation for research and teaching staff. The accumulated data indicate that the analysed academic staff of public and non-public higher education institutions of Mazovia had the following characteristics: high average age, considerable percentage of retired professors (especially in non-public schools), fairly slow academic growth (the number of academic degrees conferred in Mazovia in recent years did not show an upward trend) and a considerable proportion of staff working in multiple jobs (especially among academic teachers for whom a public university is a primary place of employment).Autorka prezentuje potencjał kadrowy szkół wyższych Warszawy i Mazowsza w latach 2006-2008. Dokonuje analizy struktury wieku, struktury zatrudnienia kadry naukowo-dydaktycznej (według stanowisk) oraz nasycenia poszczególnych ośrodków akademickich kadrą akademicką. Przedstawia również ścieżkę awansu nauczycieli akademickich, ich rozwój naukowy, problem wieloetatowości i wielozatrudnienia - który w dużej mierze dotyka kadrę akademicką - oraz zasady wynagradzania pracowników naukowo-dydaktycznych. Zgromadzony materiał wskazuje, iż poddana analizie kadra akademicka publicznych i niepublicznych uczelni Mazowsza charakteryzowała się: wysokim średnim wiekiem, znacznym odsetkiem emerytowanych profesorów (zwłaszcza w uczelniach niepublicznych), zbyt powolnym rozwojem naukowym (liczba stopni naukowych nadanych w ostatnich latach na Mazowszu nie wykazywała tendencji wzrostowej) oraz znacznym wielozatrudnieniem (zwłaszcza nauczycieli akademickich pracujących na pierwszym etacie w publicznych szkołach wyższych)

    Alcohol harm reduction in Europe.

    This chapter provides an overview of harm reduction approaches to alcohol in Europe. First, definitions ascribed to alcohol harm reduction are outlined. Then, evaluated alcohol harm reduction interventions in European countries are described and the evidence for their effectiveness examined. These include multi-component programmes, improvements to the drinking environment, and initiatives to reduce the harms associated with drink-driving. Third, harm reduction activities that have been recorded and described but not yet evaluated are briefly outlined. These include ‘grassroots’ initiatives and more formal local initiatives. To conclude, the chapter raises questions about how alcohol harm reduction is defined and put into practice, the evidence-base that is available for policymakers, and how information is shared. It highlights the need to develop systems to facilitate knowledge transfer on alcohol harm reduction between researchers, policymakers and practitioners in Europe but stresses the importance of respecting local and cultural diversity in the development and implementation of harm reduction initiatives

    Jakość kształcenia i jej ocena w Szkole Głównej Handlowej

    The paper discusses how the reforms introduced in the Warsaw School of Economics shape the system of education and assessment of the quality of teaching. Also, it presents the elements of the system and the prospects of development. The presently used methods of assessment are permeated with numerous deficiencies. They do not constitute a coherent system. They are dispersed nature initiatives conducted by different entities, which resulted, for instance, in the assessment of teachers with the use of four different devices, while the results were utilized in different ways. The WSE is not an exception and we expect to meet the similar situation in most higher educational institutions in Poland. At the WSE however, the construction of the system of internal quality assessment and the basics of external assessment, were initiated. The article presents planned steps of the initiated activities. The whole task is enlightened by the idea, that the assessment procedure is to be of use for the teachers to increase their skills. Thus, it should not constitute a tool of control and repression but provide teachers with positive, not negative work motivation. The assessment system should be created at the WSE and should be tested in the School units, which agree to enter the testing, on the voluntary basis. The testing procedure should be implemented into WSE yearly schedule, after the general discussion of the possible uses of the assessment results.Niniejszy artykuł mówi o tym, jak w Szkole Głównej Handlowej, w wyniku wprowadzonych reform, powstaje system kształtowania i oceny jakości dydaktyki, co się składa na ten system oraz jakie są perspektywy jego rozwoju. Zmiany społeczne i gospodarcze, które zaszły w Polsce, wyzwoliły bardzo silną motywację do podnoszenia jakości studiów ekonomicznych, jednakże nie doprowadziły, jak dotąd, do powstania systemu zewnętrznej oceny tej jakości. Sposoby oceny jakości dydaktyki stosowane w SGH mają wiele wad. Nie stanowią spójnego systemu i nie dają podstaw do oceny np. jednostek Uczelni w wypełnianiu przez nie uczelnianej misji. Są one rozproszonymi inicjatywami rozmaitych ciał, skutkiem czego np. ocenę tych samych nauczycieli akademickich przeprowadzono za pomocą czterech różnych narzędzi, a wyniki każdej z tych ocen były wykorzystywane w zupełnie inny sposób. Szkoła Główna Handlowa nie jest tu wyjątkiem. Sądzimy, że taka sytuacja występuje w większości polskich uczelni. W SGH przystąpiono do budowania systemu wewnętrznej oceny jakości i tworzenia zrębów oceny zewnętrznej. W artykule przedstawiamy zaplanowane kolejne etapy prac nad nimi. Pracom tym przyświeca przekonanie, że ocena jakości dydaktyki ma być pomocna w podnoszeniu kwalifikacji przez nauczycieli, a nie służyć jako narzędzie kontroli i represji, ma dać pozytywną, a nie negatywną motywację do pracy. System oceny powinien więc powstać w uczelni i być przetestowany na jednostkach, które dobrowolnie zgodzą się poddać ocenie, a wreszcie zostać wprowadzony na stałe do kalendarium wydarzeń roku akademickiego w SGH po ogólnouczelnianej dyskusji i jasnym określeniu, do czego będą mogły być wykorzystane wyniki ocen

    BIO-TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES AND MICROSTRUCTURE OF SEMICRYSTALLINE AL2O3/PEEK COATINGS ELECTROPHORETICALLY DEPOSITED ON THE TI-13NB-13ZR ALLOY

    Tribological applications of titanium alloys in orthopedic surgery and traumatology are limited due to their low resistance to wear and low hardness [1]. Therefore, in order to protect of the alloy surface and improve the performance of titanium alloys in orthopedic implants in friction and wear applications, for example, in the head and acetabulum of endoprostheses, surface treatment is necessary. Electrophoretic deposition (EPD) is a very convenient method for producing the composite ceramic-polymer coatings on metallic substrates. Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) and PEEK-based coatings have often been applied as a sliding material in bio-tribosystems because of their high wear resistance, corrosion resistance and self-lubricating capacity [2-4]. In our previous study, we successfully deposited a well-adhered PEEK coating which improved bio-tribological properties of the Ti-13Nb-13Zr alloy substrate [4]. In the present work, composite Al2O3/PEEK coatings deposited by EPD were applied for further improvement the bio-tribological properties of the Ti-13Nb-13Zr alloy. The deposits exhibited the uniform distribution of powders used for deposition. The PEEK in the as-deposited coatings had a nearly amorphous structure. Subsequent heating at a temperature above the PEEK melting point, 350 ºC, enabled homogeneous, semi-crystalline PEEK as a coatings matrix with spherulitic morphology to be produced (Fig. 1). TEM investigation revealed the presence of uniformly distributed γ-Al2O3 nanoparticles as well as agglomerates of both α-Al2O3 and γ-Al2O3 particles within the PEEK matrix. The coating thickness depended strongly on the time of EPD and equalled 45 μm, 80 μm and 120 μm after 20 s, 30 s and 60 s, respectively. Micro-scratch tests showed that all the coatings exhibited very good adhesion to the titanium alloy substrate, however, the thickest coating had the best adhesion. The composite Al2O3/PEEK coatings significantly improved the tribological properties of the Ti-13Nb-13Zr alloy, also in comparison with a polymer PEEK coated alloy. The Al2O3/PEEK coated alloy exhibited excellent wear resistance in comparison with uncoated ones and was better than the PEEK coated alloy. The coefficient of friction was reduced from 0.55 for an uncoated alloy to 0.30 and below 0.20 for the Al2O3/PEEK coated alloy in dry sliding and sliding in Ringer\u27s solution, respectively.     The main purpose of this paper is to present the variable and diverse Ovid’s attitude towards Muses in his works from exile (Tristia, Epistulae ex Ponto and Ibis). The poet seeks in these goddesses both the comfort and the cause of his exile, identifies them with his poetry frequently, as their faithful servant feels deceived but also hopes that Muses can ease the anger of Augustus.     Analytical electron microscopy studies of the CMSX–4 single crystal superalloy subjected to high temperature annealing

    The aim of the present work is to investigate the development of the γ/γ' microstructure and the changes in chemical composition of γ and γ' phases during high temperature annealing of CMSX-4 superalloy at a temperature of 1100°C in the time range from 500 to 2500 h. The studies were performed by means of scanning electron microscopy and the modern scanning-transmission electron microscopy with Super-X EDS system of four SDD detectors. Results of scanning electron microscopy and scanning-transmission electron microscopy analyses have shown that the microstructure of CMSX-4 superalloy is unstable during ageing at high temperature and the coalescence of cuboidal γ' precipitates was observed. Energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis revealed the distribution of particular alloying elements in the γ and γ' phases and the differences in their concentration in the function of the annealing time

    Temporal Delusion: 'Duality' Accounts of Time and Double Orientation to Reality in Depressive Psychosis

    This paper argues that 'duality' accounts of time, as exemplified by Henri Bergson's, Edmund Husserl's, and John McTaggart's ideas, parallel the decomposition of temporal experience in depressive psychosis into objective and subjective dimensions of time. The paper also proposes to comprehend the full-fledged depressive temporal delusion, in which the subjective flow of time comes to a standstill, via the idea of a double orientation to reality characteristic of schizophrenic delusions. In the depressive temporal delusion a person claims that time is not moving while simultaneously her cognitive orientation in temporal surroundings remains largely unaffected, hence the double orientation. The juxtaposition of temporal experience in depression with the temporal disorientation in dementia enables us to situate the depressive delusion regarding the flow of time in the middle of a proposed scale of the disintegration of normal temporal experience

    Analytical electron microscopy investigation of topologically close-packed phases in CMSX-4 single crystal superalloy

    In this work the topologically close-packed phases precipitated during annealing of CMSX-4 single-crystal superalloy at temperature 1100°C were investigated. Microstructural analyses were carried out by means of scanning- and transmission electron microscopy as well as scanning-transmission electron microscopy in high angle annular dark field mode. Chemical composition in nanoareas was determined using energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. Scanning electron microscopy investigation has shown that the topologically close-packed precipitates were formed already after 50 h of annealing at temperature 1000°C. With prolongation of the annealing time up to 2500 h the change of the morphology of topologically close-packed particles from blocky to needle-like occurred. Selected area electron diffraction analysis indicated that the topologically close-packed precipitates are the orthorhombic P phase. Quantitative energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy analysis revealed that the topologically close-packed precipitates are enriched mostly in Re and W
