    Single crystal of superconducting SmFeAsO1-xFy grown at high pressure

    Single crystals of SmFeAsO1-xFy of a size up to 120 micrometers have been grown from NaCl/KCl flux at a pressure of 30 kbar and temperature of 1350-1450 C using the cubic anvil high-pressure technique. The superconducting transition temperature of the obtained single crystals varies between 45 and 53 K.Obtained crystals are characterized by a full diamagnetic response in low magnetic fields and by a high critical current density in high magnetic fields. Structural refinement has been performed on single crystal. Differential thermal analysis investigations at 1 bar Ar pressure show decomposition of SmFeAsO1-xFy at 1302 C.Comment: 12 pages, 3 tables, 6 figure

    Functional implications of bound phenolic compounds and phenolics–food interaction: A review

    Sizeable scientific evidence indicates the health benefits related to phenolic compounds and dietary fiber. Various phenolic compounds-rich foods or ingredients are also rich in dietary fiber, and these two health components may interrelate via noncovalent (reversible) and covalent (mostly irreversible) interactions. Notwithstanding, these interactions are responsible for the carrier effect ascribed to fiber toward the digestive system and can modulate the bioaccessibility of phenolics, thus shaping health-promoting effects in vivo. On this basis, the present review focuses on the nature, occurrence, and implications of the interactions between phenolics and food components. Covalent and noncovalent interactions are presented, their occurrence discussed, and the effect of food processing introduced. Once reaching the large intestine, fiber-bound phenolics undergo an intense transformation by the microbial community therein, encompassing reactions such as deglycosylation, dehydroxylation, α- and β-oxidation, dehydrogenation, demethylation, decarboxylation, C-ring fission, and cleavage to lower molecular weight phenolics. Comparatively less information is still available on the consequences on gut microbiota. So far, the very most of the information on the ability of bound phenolics to modulate gut microbiota relates to in vitro models and single strains in culture medium. Despite offering promising information, such models provide limited information about the effect on gut microbes, and future research is deemed in this field

    Growth and characterization of A_{1-x}K_xFe_2As_2 (A = Ba, Sr) single crystals with x=0 - 0.4

    Single crystals of A1x_{1-x}Kx_xFe2_2As2_2 (A=Ba, Sr) with high quality have been grown successfully by FeAs self-flux method. The samples have sizes up to 4 mm with flat and shiny surfaces. The X-ray diffraction patterns suggest that they have high crystalline quality and c-axis orientation. The non-superconducting crystals show a spin-density-wave (SDW) instability at about 173 K and 135 K for Sr-based and Ba-based compound, respectively. After doping K as the hole dopant into the BaFe2_2As2_2 system, the SDW transition is smeared, and superconducting samples with the compound of Ba1x_{1-x}Kx_xFe2_2As2_2 (0 <x< x \leqslant 0.4) are obtained. The superconductors characterized by AC susceptibility and resistivity measurements exhibit very sharp superconducting transition at about 36 K, 32 K, 27 K and 23 K for x= 0.40,0.28,0.25 and 0.23, respectively.Comment: 9 pages, 6 figures, 1 table.     Angular dependence of resistivity in the superconducting state of NdFeAsO0.82_{0.82}F0.18_{0.18} single crystals

    We report the results of angle dependent resistivity of NdFeAsO0.82_{0.82}F0.18_{0.18} single crystals in the superconducting state. By doing the scaling of resistivity within the frame of the anisotropic Ginzburg-Landau theory, it is found that the angle dependent resistivity measured under different magnetic fields at a certain temperature can be collapsed onto one curve. As a scaling parameter, the anisotropy Γ\Gamma can be determined for different temperatures. It is found that Γ(T)\Gamma(T) increases slowly with decreasing temperature, varying from Γ\Gamma \simeq 5.48 at T=50 K to Γ\Gamma \simeq 6.24 at T=44 K. This temperature dependence can be understood within the picture of multi-band superconductivity.Comment: 7 pages, 4 figure

    RESUMO Objetivos Identificar instrumentos de avaliação da amamentação e sua aplicação na prática clínica, validação e adaptação transcultural. Método Revisão integrativa, realizada em seis bases de dados e em uma biblioteca eletrônica, entre agosto/2014-dezembro/2015, sem limitação temporal. Resultados Foram identificados 19 instrumentos de avaliação do AM. Destes, 12 foram validados e cinco foram adaptados transculturalmente. Quanto à aplicação, destacam-se seu uso para a avaliação do risco de desmame (BAPT) e a percepção/comportamento da mulher em amamentar (BSES-SF e IIFAS). Conclusão A identificação dos instrumentos disponíveis e de suas indicações para a avaliação do AM pode auxiliar profissionais na escolha pelo instrumento a ser utilizado, qualificando a assistência materno-infantil

    Point contact Andreev reflection spectroscopy of NdFeAsO_0.85

    The newly discovered oxypnictide family of superconductors show very high critical temperatures of up to 55K. Whilst there is growing evidence that suggests a nodal order parameter, point contact Andreev reflection spectroscopy can provide crucial information such as the gap value and possibly the number of energy gaps involved. For the oxygen deficient NdFeAsO0.85 with a Tc of 45.5K, we show that there is clearly a gap value at 4.2K that is of the order of 7meV, consistent with previous studies on oxypnictides with lower Tc. Additionally, taking the spectra as a function of gold tip contact pressure reveals important changes in the spectra which may be indicative of more complex physics underlying this structure.Comment: 11 pages, 3 figures.
