Los verbos pseudo-copulativos modales del español

En este trabajo se estudian las propiedades semánticas y gramaticales de un conjunto de verbos pseudocopulativos formado por dos verbos de apariencia (parecer y antojarse), dos de percepción intransitivados (encontrarse y verse) y dos verbos de presentación intransitivados (mostrarse y presentarse). Todos ellos aportan un significado modal en un sentido amplio: presentan el estado de cosas definido por la predicación principal como algo observado por el hablante. Se propondrán unos criterios para la delimitación del empleo pseudo-copulativo de estos verbos y se establecerá una división entre los que poseen un significado no asertivo, es decir, los que implican la ausencia de compromiso con la verdad o falsedad de la predicación expresada por el atributo, y los que carecen de dicha implicación.In this paper, we examine the semantic and grammatical properties of a small list of pseudo-copulative verbs in Spanish: two appearance verbs (parecer and antojarse), two perception verbs (encontrarse y verse) and two presentation verbs (mostrarse and presentarse). All these verbs may be characterized as modal in a broad sense of the term: they present the state of affairs denoted by the main predication as one perceived or observed by the speaker. Dos construcciones idiomáticas basadas en el esquema [nombre + adverbio]: calle arriba y boca abajo.

En este trabajo se estudian dos construcciones del español en las que un adverbio locativo de carácter orientativo aparece precedido de un sustantivo sin determinante (por ejemplo: calle arriba ; boca abajo ). Ambas comparten un mismo esquema formal, pero se diferencian en su interpretación: las del tipo CALLE ARRIBA expresan orientación espacial; las del tipo BOCA ABAJO tienen significado de manera. Tras revisar algunas cuestiones de índole semántico-interpretativa, las autoras formulan la hipótesis de que ambas clases de combinaciones pertenecen al mismo tipo de 'construcción idiomática', en el sentido con que este término se emplea en el marco de la Gramática Construccional. Identification and functional analysis of glutamine transporter inStreptococcus mutans

Background Streptococcus mutans, a biofilm-forming bacterium, possesses several transporters that function as import/export molecules. Among them, the PII protein family is composed of members that regulate glutamine synthesis in bacterial species. Objective In this study, we characterized the function of the glutamine transporter in S. mutans MT8148. Methods The SMU.732 gene, corresponding to glnP in S. mutans, is homologous to the glutamine transporter gene in Bacillus subtilis. We constructed a glnP-inactivated mutant strain (GEMR) and a complement strain (comp-GEMR) and evaluated their biological functions. Results Growth of GEMR was similar in the presence and absence of glutamine, whereas the growth rates of MT8148 and comp-GEMR were significantly lower in the presence of glutamine as compared to its absence. Furthermore, biofilms formed by MT8148 and comp-GEMR were significantly thicker than that formed by GEMR, while the GEMR strain showed a significantly lower survival rate in an acidic environment than the other strains. Addition of n-phenyl-2-naphthylamine, used to label of the membrane, led to increased fluorescence intensity of MT8148 and GEMR, albeit that was significantly lower in the latter. Conclusions These results suggest that glnP is associated with glutamine transport in S. mutans, especially the import of glutamine involved in biofilm formation
