Good practices in school to educate critical citizens: the youth parliament programme from the perspective of secondary school teachers in training

ERPA International Congresses on Education 2018This paper refers to the European project Erasmus + ELEF (European Learning Environment Formats for Citizenship and Democracy, Reference number 580426). The aim of this project is to develop, implement, evaluate and replicate democratic and innovative learning environments (good practices) in both educational institutions and informal and community learning environments. In this context, over the course of a year, a number of experiences considered relevant have been selected, which constitute the sample of this research on good practices. This contribution presents the educational programme “Youth Parliament”. This is a project with a long history and whose main objective is to train responsible citizens, with the collaboration of various educational agents. The evaluation carried out by the Secondary Education teachers in training on the potentialities and limitations of the programme is shown, based on the experiences carried out in the participating educational centres during the academic year 2016-2017

Curs acadèmic: 2016/2017Aquest treball sobre la redacció i com corregir i avaluar correctament un escrit esta basat en diferents models i mètodes que proposen diversos autors. Es reflexiona per una part sobre com s’ensenya a escriure un text als xiquets/es, és a dir, quins són els procediments que s’utilitzen, els mètodes i la metodologia utilitzada hui en dia en les aules, ja que els mestres de hui en dia no es preocupen de buscar noves metodologies i de preocupar-se de corregir els textos amb sentit. I per altra part es fa una breu comparació en la metodologia utilitzada fa uns anys i la de l’actualitat, concretament aquest treball és una crítica a la manera de ensenyar i de corregir els textos dels alumnes hui en dia, ja que se assembla a la de fa uns anys. Considere que aquest tema és important degut a que la redacció és un tema que ha de estar en les aules de manera activa i que els xiquets/es han de gaudir amb la redacció. Es proposen diferents mètodes de com corregir un text o una redacció de diferents autors, diferents maneres de puntuar, de avaluar..

Automatic Performance Status Evaluation and Physical Activity Recognition in Cancer Patients for Medical Diagnosis Assistance

Sobresaliente (10)The evaluation of cancer patients’ recovery is still under a big grade of subjectivity from the physicians’ diagnoses. Different systems have been successfully implemented for general physical activity evaluation, nonetheless there is still a big leap of improvement into Performance Status (PS) evaluation with ECOG and Karnofsky’s Performance Status (KPS) scores. In this project an automatic system for patients’ biomonitoring based on Android technology with smartphones and wearables has been designed. As a result, objective data is provided for the oncologists’ diagnoses along with new algorithms for physical activity and PS assessment, having the latter applied to ECOG and KPS no precedent known. Furthermore, the basics for prospective implementation of gamification has been designed for boosting patients’ motivation in their recovery.La evaluación de la recuperación de pacientes con cáncer está caracterizada por un alto grado de subjetividad en los diagnósticos del personal médico. Se han implementado con éxito diferentes sistemas para la evaluación de la actividad fı́sica, sin embargo, aún existe un amplio margen de evolución dentro de la medida de la capacidad funcional con las escalas ECOG y de Karnofsky. En este proyecto se ha diseñado un sistema automático para la biomonitorización de pacientes basado en tecnologı́a Android con smartphones y wearables. Con esto se provee a los oncólogos de datos objetivos para sus diagnósticos junto con nuevos algoritmos para la evaluación de la actividad fı́sica y la capacidad funcional, estos últimos aplicados a ECOG y la escala de Karnofsky sin precedente alguno. Spectrophotometry of early type stars

A photoelectric spectrum scanner attached to the 16-inch telescope of the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory was used to determine the relative spectral intensity distribution for early type stars. Observations on a minimun of three nights per star have been obtained for about two hundred stars. The tracings extend from 3100 Å to 6000 Å. They were obtained with a slit width from 50 Å to 80 Å , and thus can be used also for a determination of the equivalent widths of H-beta, H-gamma, and H-delta, As a byproduct precise information on the monochromatic atmospheric extinction at Cerro Tololo is obtained. In this investigation special, emphasis was given to Be stars.Asociación Argentina de Astronomí

Sudėtingi etiniai verslo vertimo žodžiu klausimai: mokymasis spręsti kultūrines problemas per praktiką ir refleksiją

In business interpreting training, there is the need to train prospective interpreters in professional ethics and conduct, since tenets assumed in other interpreting domains such as impartiality and wholeness may conflict with the interests and needs of the business hiring the interpreter’s services and therefore place the interpreter in an ethical dilemma. In this article, we show how examples of ethically challenging elements extracted from a real interpreter-mediated business meeting corpus (in particular, issues related to culture clashes) can be addressed in business interpreting training. Trainee interpreters are exposed to these situations, which are previously introduced in (semi-)structured roleplays that are then used in the training sessions, and the following subsequent feedback and discussion allow trainees and trainers to explore and expound different options that both transmit the correct message and, more importantly, adhere to professional principles and protocols.Rengiant verslo vertėjus žodžiu būtinas profesinės etikos kursas, nes kitose vertimo žodžiu srityse taikomi principai – tokie kaip nešališkumas ar siekis perteikti visą informaciją – gali prieštarauti vertėją samdančios įmonės interesams ir poreikiams, todėl vertėjui gali kilti etinių dilemų. Šiame straipsnyje rodome, kaip rengiant verslo vertėjus žodžiu galima mokytis spręsti etiniu požiūriu sudėtingas situacijas (ypač dėl kultūrų sandūros) naudojantis iš realių verslo susitikimų, kuriuose dirbo vertėjai žodžiu, surinktais pavyzdžiais. Vertimo žodžiu studentams sukuriamos tokios situacijos, kurios pirmiausia pristatomos (pusiau)struktūruotose simuliacijose, vėliau naudojamose per paskaitas. Grįžtamasis ryšys ir aptarimas leidžia studentams ir kursų dėstytojams išnagrinėti ir paaiškinti, kaip tokiose situacijose galima ne tik teisingai perteikti informaciją, bet ir – dar svarbiau – versti laikantis profesinių principų ir etikos reikalavimų

Assessment of downy mildew in grapevine using computer vision and fuzzy logic. Development and validation of a new method

Downy mildew is a major disease of grapevine. Conventional methods for assessing crop diseases are time-consuming and require trained personnel. This work aimed to develop and validate a new method to automatically estimate the severity of downy mildew in grapevine leaves using fuzzy logic and computer vision techniques. Leaf discs of two grapevine varieties were inoculated with Plasmopara viticola and subsequently, RGB images were acquired under indoor conditions. Computer vision techniques were applied for leaf disc location in Petri dishes, image pre-processing and segmentation of pre-processed disc images to separate the pixels representing downy mildew sporulation from the rest of the leaf. Fuzzy logic was applied to improve the segmentation of disc images, rating pixels with a degree of infection according to the intensity of sporulation. To validate the new method, the downy mildew severity was visually evaluated by eleven experts and averaged score was used as the reference value. A coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.87 and a root mean squared error (RMSE) of 7.61 % was observed between the downy mildew severity obtained by the new method and the visual assessment values. Classification of the severity of the infection into three levels was also attempted, achieving an accuracy of 86 % and an F1 score of 0.78. These results indicate that computer vision and fuzzy logic can be used to automatically estimate the severity of downy mildew in grapevine leaves. A new method has been developed and validated to assess the severity of downy mildew in grapevine.
