Implementación de la NIIF 16 (arrendamientos): impacto de las decisiones de la empresa en los estados financieros

The IASB recently issued a new lease standard (IFRS 16) that will be applicable for annual periods beginning on or after 1 January 2019. This standard changes the accounting model applied by lessees. The new model (known as the capitalisation model) will entail recognising most previous operating leases in the balance sheet, thus impacting the financial statements of companies in many sectors. The impact on an individual company will vary depending on several decisions that the company’s management must make. These decisions can be divided into two groups: 1) alternative accounting treatments that IFRS 16 permits for certain aspects and 2) estimations. We analyse each of these decisions, their effect on financial statements and how companies are expected to address them. In general, companies are expected to make decisions that reduce the impact of IFRS 16 on their leverage level.El IASB ha emitido recientemente una nueva norma contable de arrendamientos (NIIF 16) que será aplicable para ejercicios que comiencen a partir de 1 de enero de 2019. Esta norma cambiará el modelo contable que aplican los arrendatarios. El nuevo modelo (conocido como modelo de capitalización) conllevará reconocer en balance la mayoría de los antiguos arrendamientos operativos, creando un gran impacto en los estados financieros de las compañías en numerosos sectores. El impacto en cada empresa individual puede ser diferente en función de una serie de decisiones que la Dirección de la empresa debe tomar. Estas decisiones pueden dividirse en dos grupos: 1) tratamientos contables alternativos que la norma permite para ciertos aspectos y 2) estimaciones. Analizamos cada una de esas decisiones, su efecto en los estados financieros y cómo se espera que las empresas las utilicen. En general, se espera que las empresas utilicen estas decisiones para reducir el impacto en el nivel de apalancamiento

A Microcontroller Based System for Controlling Patient Respiratory Guidelines

The need of making improvements in obtaining (in a non-invasive way) and monitoring the breathing rate parameters in a patient emerges due to (1) the great amount of breathing problems our society suffer, (2) the problems that can be solved, and (3) the methods used so far. Non-specific machines are usually used to carry out these measures or simply calculate the number of inhalations and exhalations within a particular timeframe. These methods lack of effectiveness and precision thus, influencing the capacity of getting a good diagnosis. This proposal focuses on drawing up a technology composed of a mechanism and a user application which allows doctors to obtain the breathing rate parameters in a comfortable and concise way. In addition, such parameters are stored in a database for potential consultation as well as for the medical history of the patients. For this, the current approach takes into account the needs, the capacities, the expectations and the user motivations which have been compiled by means of open interviews, forum discussions, surveys and application uses. In addition, an empirical evaluation has been conducted with a set of volunteers. El grupo de investigación de Tecnología Mecánica se encuentra trabajando en el proyecto DISEÑO Y CONSTRUCCIÓN VIRTUAL DE UN VEHÍCULO ELÉCTRICO, el cual busca desempeñar una aplicación utilitaria de transporte de carga o pasajeros; Teniendo en cuenta el árbol de objetivos planteado para el proyecto (ver figura 1), es necesario trabajar cada uno de los sistemas que conforman un vehículo por separado. En el proyecto se busca desarrollar un modelo teórico que facilite el cálculo de la potencia que el motor del vehículo necesitará, teniendo en cuenta las condiciones del terreno, para así poder seleccionar el tipo de motor eléctrico indicado. En la expresión se tendrán en cuenta las diferentes fuerzas que se le aplican al vehículo, como son, la fuerza aerodinámica, la fuerza que se obtiene debido a la pendiente, la fuerza de rodadura y la fuerza debida a la aceleración

Big Data analytics to assess personality based on voice analysis

Trabajo Fin de Grado en Ingeniería de Tecnologías y Servicios de TelecomunicaciónWhen humans speak, the produced series of acoustic signs do not encode only the linguistic message they wish to communicate, but also several other types of information about themselves and their states that show glimpses of their personalities and can be apprehended by judgers. As there is nowadays a trend to film job candidate’s interviews, the aim of this Thesis is to explore possible correlations between speech features extracted from interviews and personality characteristics established by experts, and to try to predict in a candidate the Big Five personality traits: Conscientiousness, Agreeableness, Neuroticism, Openness to Experience and Extraversion. The features were extracted from a genuine database of 44 women video recordings acquired in 2020, and 78 in 2019 and before from a previous study. Even though many significant correlations were found for each years’ dataset, lots of them were proven to be inconsistent through both studies. Only extraversion, and openness in a more limited way, showed a good number of clear correlations. Essentially, extraversion has been found to be related to the variation in the slope of the pitch (usually at the end of sentences), which indicates that a more "singing" voice could be associated with a higher score. In addition, spectral entropy and roll-off measurements have also been found to indicate that larger changes in the spectrum (which may also be related to more "singing" voices) could be associated with greater extraversion too. Regarding predictive modelling algorithms, aimed to estimate personality traits from the speech features obtained for the study, results were observed to be very limited in terms of accuracy and RMSE, and also through scatter plots for regression models and confusion matrixes for classification evaluation. Nevertheless, various results encourage to believe that there are some predicting capabilities, and extraversion and openness also ended up being the most predictable personality traits. Better outcomes were achieved when predictions were performed based on one specific feature instead of all of them or a reduced group, as it was the case for openness when estimated through linear and logistic regression based on time over 90% of the variation range of the deltas from the entropy of the spectrum module. Extraversion too, as it correlates well with features relating variation in F0 decreasing slope and variations in the spectrum. For the predictions, several machine learning algorithms have been used, such as linear regression, logistic regression and random forests

Efectos del cambio de poder en el sector manufacturero de México.

El propósito de este artículo es establecer si el cambio de poder que resulta de las elecciones presidenciales en México, tiene algún efecto sobre la industria manufacturera desagregada. Mediante el uso de series de tiempo, y un modelo autorregresivo con variables ficticias, se encontró que de las cuarenta y nueve ramas que integran la actividad económica de la industria manufacturera, veintinueve de ellas se ven afectadas por el evento político. Los resultados mostrados por las veintidós actividades indican que tres de ellas experimentan una contracción y cuatro, una expansión antes del cambio de poder; en tanto que catorce de ellas experimentan contracción, y solamente una presenta expansión después del cambio de poder.
