Presence of stratospheric humidity in the ozone column depletion on the west coast of South America

The ozone column depletion over the western coast of South America has been previously explained, based on the existence of winds in the area of the depletion, which cause compression and thinning of the ozone layer. However, the presence of humidity and methane transported by these winds to the stratosphere where the ozone depletion is present gives evidence that these compounds also participate in the depletion of the ozone layer. These two compounds, humidity and methane, are analysed during the ozone depletion of January, 1998. It is observed that when humidity presents fluctuations, ozone has fluctuations too. A maximum of humidity corresponds to a minimum of ozone, but there is a shift in altitude between them. This shift is observed in the stratosphere and upper troposphere and corresponds to approximately 500 m. It is important to point out that during this event El Ni˜no was present and the sources of methane are the Amazon forest and the Pacific Ocean. Sistema de consulta de notas a través de Páginas Web y de Telefonía Móvil

In this paper we are going to present a system which lets any student at Cordoba University knows what the final qualifications he has obtained in the different subjects he is registered are. The sytem lets him consult the qualifications using Internet and mobile telephony. Teachers who are reagistered in the system can upload tha qualifications without addtional software, they only need the certificate file generated by the UcoActas application. Then, all the registered students in this subject and in this service, will receive an e-mail to notify them that they can consult the qualifications. Then, they can use a Web browser or they can use a specific mobile application to consult them. Currently we are doing functionality tests with voluntary students from different courses.En este artículo se presenta un sistema que permite a cualquier alumno de la Universidad de Córdoba informarse sobre las calificaciones finales obtenidas en las asignaturas en las que está matriculado. El sistema permite consultar las notas de las actas utilizando Internet y Telefonía Móvil. Los profesores que estén dados de alta en el sistema podrán subir las notas sin necesidad de utilizar un tercer "software", directamente con el fichero de las actas generado por el programa UcoActas. Una vez subidas las notas, todos los alumnos matriculados que estén suscritos a este servicio, recibirán un e-mail con el aviso de que la consulta en la Web está disponible. Si el alumno lo desea, también podrá consultar sus notas publicadas utilizando un programa para dispositivos móviles que hará una petición segura al sistema. Actualmente se están realizando pruebas de actualización con estudiantes voluntarios de varias asignaturas

DNA Torsional Solitons in Presence of localized Inhomogeneities

In the present paper we investigate the influence of inhomogeneities in the dynamics and stability of DNA open states, modeled as propagating solitons in the spirit of a Generalized Yakushevish Model. DaMA-WEB: un programa para el monitoreo y control local y remoto vía web, de la adquisición de datos

En este trabajo se describe un aplicación para el control y el monitoreo remoto, a través de la web, de la adquisición de datos en instalaciones experimentales. El programa fue diseñado originalmente para controlar un reactor de investigación de tipo UASB, y fue probado en el monitoreo de un piso radiante solar. La aplicación consta de dos partes, el hardware, que consiste en un módulo NuDAM conectado a un computador vía la interfaz serie y el software, que lo controla. Este último presenta las siguientes características: a) configuración y control de módulos NUDAM o ADAM vía web b) medición continua de datos tomados con el mismo, c) acceso permanente, en tiempo real, a través web, a las interfaces de control, mediante las cuales se configura la adquisición de datos y se visualiza los datos adquiridos o se inspecciona los datos históricos, d) almacenamiento y manipulación de datos mediante un gestor de bases de datos, e) capacidad de exportar archivos de datos históricos en formato “txt” y “xml”, f) capacidad de envío automático de reportes por correo electrónico.In this work, a software for web based tele-control and tele-monitoring of an experimental data adquisition installation is reported. Loop Variables for compact two-dimensional quantum electrodynamics

Variables parametrized by closed and open curves are defined to reformulate compact U(1) Quantum Electrodynamics in the circle with a massless fermion field. It is found that the gauge invariant nature of these variables accommodates into a regularization scheme for the Hamiltonian and current operators that is specially well suited for the study of the compact case. The zero mode energy spectrum, the value of the axial anomaly and the anomalous commutators this model presents are hence determined in a manifestly gauge invariant manner. Contrary to the non compact case, the zero mode spectrum is not equally spaced and consequently the theory does not lead to the spectrum of a free scalar boson. All the states are invariant under large gauge transformations. In particular, that is the case for the vacuum, and consequently the $\theta$-dependence does not appear.Comment: 24 pages, 1 figure, to be published in Phys. Rev.
