    La Casa de Papel: el color roig a la simbologia de la sèrie

    [ES] La Casa de Papel se ha convertido en la serie española de mayor éxito y repercusión mundial, esto es debido a una simbología clara que ha calado en la audiencia. La máscara de Dalí y el mono rojo se han convertido en símbolos de revolución y resistencia. El equipo de arte de la serie ha sido el encargado de estos, por lo que estudiaremos en primero lugar cuáles son estos símbolos que crean la imagen de la serie, tanto de vestuario como de atrezzo. Por otro lado analizaremos el proceso de creación de estos, centrándonos en el color rojo y viendo como la creación de este símbolo realiza una importante aportación a la fuerza narrativa de la historia. También conoceremos algunos detalles de la mano del director de arte, los cuales ayudarán a entender mejor su éxito y su aportación al proyecto.[EN] Money Heist has become the most successful Spanish series with worldwide repercussion, this is due to a clear symbology that has permeated the audience. Dalí's mask and the red jumpsuit have become symbols of revolution and resistance. The art team of the series has been in charge of this, so we will first study what these symbols are that create the image of the series, both in costumes and props. On the other hand, we will analyze the process of creating these, focusing on the color red and seeing how the creation of this symbol makes an important contribution to the narrative strength of the story.     Estudio avanzado de combustión de la biomasa forestal en caldera de parrilla

    La presente Memoria corresponde al estudio realizado sobre la situación de la biomasa forestal en España desde el punto de vista de aprovechamiento como recurso energético para la generación de energía eléctrica. El estudio revisa la situación general del empleo de la biomasa forestal y se centra en los aspectos tecnológicos, medioambientales, y económicos más relevantes. Dentro del estudio de los aspectos tecnológicos se hará especial hincapié en la necesidad de adecuar el recurso disponible al uso energético así como en poner de manifiesto los bajos rendimientos de la transformación de la biomasa forestal en energía eléctrica. En el estudio de la panorámica ambiental se destaca que el balance de CO2 es neutro en las emisiones directas de las centrales de biomasa forestal (sin contabilizar la energía obtenida en la recolecta, transporte, acondicionamiento, etc.). En lo referente al estudio económico se destaca la incidencia del marco legal que tiene efecto en la rentabilidad económica. En cuanto a la obtención de energía, se realizará mediante un ciclo Rankine quemando el combustible en una caldera de parrilla. Dentro de esta tecnología, se realizarán varias propuestas en función al combustible, utilizando biomasa forestal con diferentes tipos de humedad (48,9%, 36,58% y 14,57%) antes de ser introducida en la caldera, así como pellets (8,7%). Asimismo, se estudiarán dos estados del arte diferentes (40bar/400ºC y 60bar/450ºC), variando la temperatura y presión del vapor a la entrada de la turbina. Finalmente, se hace un estudio económico del coste de cada propuesta, así como los precios de venta de la energía, rentabilidad del proyecto, y un estudio de sensibilidad del mismo.This report corresponds to the study about the situation of forestal biomass in Spain from the perspective of energy usage as an energy resource to generate electricity. The study revises the general employment situation of forestall biomass and it focuses in the technological, environmental, economic and most general aspects. Within the study of technological aspects, focus will be brought in the need to adequate the available resource to the energy use, as well as highlighting the low efficiency of forestall biomass transformations into electric energy. In the study of the environmental panorama it is highlighted that the balance of CO2 is neutral in the direct emissions of forestal biomass centrals (not having into account the obtained energy in the recollection, transport, conditioning, etc.). In reference to the economic stud emphasis is brought to the incidence of the legal framework which has effect over the economic profitability. Regarding energy production, this will be produced using a Rankine cycle burning the biomass in a grate-fired boiler. Within this technology, several proposals will be made depending on the fuel, using forestal biomass with different types of moisture (48,9%, 36,58% and 14,57%) before being introduce into the boiler, as well as pellets (8,7%). Likewise, two different states of art will be studied (40 bar and 400ºC and 60 bar and 450ªC), varying temperature and vapor pressure at the turbine inlet. Finally, an economic study will be made at the end of each proposal, as well as for the prices of sale of the energy and the project profitability, to end up with sensibility study of the project.Ingeniería Mecánic

    “Sendero Fortún”: María Folguera and theater as research

    Entre noviembre de 2019 y marzo de 2020 se desarrolló en el Teatro Valle-Inclán de Madrid «Sendero Fortún», un díptico teatral conformado por Celia en la Revolución y Elena Fortún, enfocado a la recuperación y difusión de la figura de Encarnación Aragoneses –alias Elena Fortún– y su obra. A través del texto y la dirección de Elena Fortún, María Folguera emplea el dispositivo teatral como medio para el desarrollo de una investigación que parte de la revisión de los textos públicos y privados de Fortún, y que se postula así como una nueva fuente para el estudio de la autora y su contexto. Este trabajo analiza la doble vertiente en que resulta el trabajo de Folguera: por un lado, el planteamiento de toda una serie de reflexiones en torno al ejercicio de la escritura y la autoría femeninas; y por otro, cómo esto se relaciona de manera necesaria con la creación de una memoria colectiva de personajes y lugares clave en la vida y época de Fortún, entre los que destaca la importancia del Lyceum Club y su entorno.From November 2019 to March 2020 the Valle-Inclán Theatre in Madrid hosted «Sendero Fortún», a theatrical diptych integrated by Celia en la Revolución and Elena Fortún, aimed to recover and disseminate the figure of Encarnación Aragoneses –alias Elena Fortún– and her work. Through the text and direction of Elena Fortún, María Folguera uses the theatri- cal device as means to develop a research project that emanates from the revision of Elena Fortún’s public and private texts, postulating itself as a new source of study of the author and her context. This article analyzes the twofold results of Folguera’s work: on the one hand, the posing of a series of observations about the act of writing and female authorship; and on the other, how this necessarily relates to the creation of a collective memory of characters and places pivotal to the life and times of Fortún, among which the importance of the Lyceum Club and its environment stand out

    End-systole and end-diastole detection in short axis cine MRI using a fully convolutional neural network with dilated convolutions

    [EN] The correct assessment and characterization of heart anatomy and functionality is usually done through inspection of magnetic resonance image cine sequences. In the clinical setting it is especially important to determine the state of the left ventricle. This requires the measurement of its volume in the end-diastolic and end-systolic frames within the sequence trough segmentation methods. However, the first step required for this analysis before any segmentation is the detection of the end-systolic and end-diastolic frames within the image acquisition. In this work we present a fully convolutional neural network that makes use of dilated convolutions to encode and process the temporal information of the sequences in contrast to the more widespread use of recurrent networks that are usually employed for problems involving temporal information. We trained the network in two different settings employing different loss functions to train the network: the classical weighted cross-entropy, and the weighted Dice loss. We had access to a database comprising a total of 397 cases. Out of this dataset we used 98 cases as test set to validate our network performance. The final classification on the test set yielded a mean frame distance of 0 for the end-diastolic frame (i.e.: the selected frame was the correct one in all images of the test set) and 1.242 (relative frame distance of 0.036) for the end-systolic frame employing the optimum setting, which involved training the neural network with the Dice loss.     Automatic left ventricle volume calculation with explainability through a deep learning weak-supervision methodology

    [EN] Background and objective: Magnetic resonance imaging is the most reliable imaging technique to assess the heart. More specifically there is great importance in the analysis of the left ventricle, as the main pathologies directly affect this region. In order to characterize the left ventricle, it is necessary to extract its volume. In this work we present a neural network architecture that is capable of directly estimating the left ventricle volume in short axis cine Magnetic Resonance Imaging in the end-diastolic frame and provide a segmentation of the region which is the basis of the volume calculation, thus offering explain-ability to the estimated value. Methods: The network was designed to directly target the volumes to estimate, not requiring any labeled segmentation on the images. The network was based on a 3D U-net with extra layers defined in a scan-ning module that learned features like the circularity of the objects and the volumes to estimate in a weakly-supervised manner. The only targets defined were the left ventricle volumes and the circularity of the object detected through the estimation of the pi value derived from its shape. We had access to 397 cases corresponding to 397 different subjects. We randomly selected 98 cases to use as test set. Results: The results show a good match between the real and estimated volumes in the test set, with a mean relative error of 8% and a mean absolute error of 9.12 ml with a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.95. The derived segmentations obtained by the network achieved Dice coefficients with a mean value of 0.79. Conclusions: The proposed method is capable of obtaining the left ventricle volume biomarker in the end-diastole and offer an explanation of how it obtains the result in the form of a segmentation mask without the need of segmentation labels to train the algorithm, making it a potentially more trustworthy method for clinicians and a way to train neural networks more easily when segmentation labels are not readily available.The authors acknowledge financial support from the Consel-leria d'Educacio, Investigacio, Cultura i Esport, Generalitat Valenciana (grants AEST/2019/037 and AEST/2020/029) , from the Agencia Valenciana de la Innovacion, Generalitat Valenciana (ref.     PSPU-Net for Automatic Short Axis Cine MRI Segmentation of Left and Right Ventricles

    [EN] Characterization of the heart anatomy and function is mostly done with magnetic resonance image cine series. To achieve a correct characterization, the volume of the right and left ventricle need to be segmented, which is a timeconsuming task. We propose a new convolutional neural network architecture that combines U-net with PSP modules (PSPU-net) for the segmentation of left and right ventricle cavities and left ventricle myocardium in the diastolic frame of short-axis cine MRI images and compare its results against a classic 3D U-net architecture. We used a dataset containing 399 cases in total. The results showed higher quality results in both segmentation and final volume estimation for a test set of 99 cases in the case of the PSPU-net, with global dice metrics of 0.910 and median absolute relative errors in volume estimations of 0.026 and 0.039 for the left ventricle cavity and myocardium and 0.051 for the right ventricles cavity.DM acknowledges financial support from the Conselleria d'Educacio, Investigacio, Cultura i Esport, Generalitat Valenciana (grants AEST/2019/037 and AEST/2020/029), from the Agencia Valenciana de la Innovacion, Generalitat Valenciana (ref.
