Gender Differences in Library Literacy among Medical Students in College of Medicine, Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma
In academics, economics, politics, as well as religious circles, gender gaps and differences have been a topic of discussion. In this regards, this study was undertaken to determine if there are gender differences in the library literacy of medical students of the College of Medicine (CoM), Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo State. This was evaluated by assessing the differences in library access, frequencies in library utilization, reasons for utilization and problems faced when using the library. The study was a descriptive cross sectional survey involving the use of a self-structured/pretested questionnaire. 200 students of CoM, AAU, were randomly sampled for the purpose of data collection and analysis. The result showed that the accessibility of library for the male students was lower than the 78% recorded for females. However, majority (67%) of all the students reported irregular usage of the library. Overall, the reasons for visiting the library were mainly to read their notes (121), do assignment (149), and borrow books (111) and prepare for exams during examinations (137).Conclusively, the findings of this study has shown that gender differences exist in library utilization among medical students of CoM, AAU, Ekpoma, Edo State. Keywords: Gender difference; Library literacy; Undergraduates; Medical studen
The Physically Challenged and the Dearth of Relevant Facilities in Nigerian Libraries
Nigeria is faced with precarious situations like leadership crisis, misplaced priorities, poverty, insecurity, infrastructural decay, economic strife, and most importantly, the politicization of education. Statistical records show that in Nigeria, physical facilities in some university libraries are inadequate for effective learning, and needed facilities for the physically challenged are nearly non-existent. As a result, there are growing concerns about the numerous challenges encountered by physically challenged individuals in the use of the library. This review paper therefore, x-rays these challenges beyond rhetorics and shelf-destined findings and reports. Overall, it highlights the need to improve the current status of Nigerian libraries to meet the multidimensional service demands of citizens living with disabilities. Keywords: Facilities, Library, Nigeria, Physically challenge
Library Utilization among College Of Medicine Research Year Undergraduates: Case Study of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpomanigeria
This study investigates the prevalence of library utilization by the college of medicine research year undergraduates of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, Nigeria. It is a descriptive cross sectional survey that involved the use of a pre-tested questionnaire. The results revealed that though the research year undergraduates have library identification cards, they however, did not utilize the library for their research work. Only 8% reported using the library alongside the internet for their research work. Those who did not visit the library in the course of their research work reported using only the internet. The main constraints for not using the library included absence of internet services in college library (100%), lack of up-to-date research journals (91%), difficulties in identifying relevant texts (80%), and restricted access duration (57%). The students were indeed convinced that unlike the college library, the internet was preferable; suggested therefore, the need for libraries to develop ways of satisfying the research need of users especially the students. Keywords: Library, Utilizations, Research year undergraduates, Nigeri
Various Biometric Techniques Suitable for Securing Banking System
Biometric is becoming an important method for human identification in many fields of human endeavour. Thus, the banking sector is not an exception. The implementation of biometric techniques in banking systems, will help to provide strong security by allowing customers to use it to validate any banking transaction before the transaction is been carried out. This technique will help to prevent people entrusted with the system, to commit fraud on the customer’s account using the system without the knowledge of the customer. This paper present different biometric measures/techniques that are suitable for this operation. The information provided in the paper will serve as a guide towards implementing such system in the banking sector. Keywords: Biometric, Techniques, Security, Banking Syste

A dilute Cu(Ni) alloy for synthesis of large-area Bernal satcked bilayer graphene using atmospheric pressure chemical vapour deposition
A bilayer graphene film obtained on copper (Cu) foil is known to have a significant fraction of
non-Bernal (AB) stacking and on copper/nickel (Cu/Ni) thin films is known to grow over a
large-area with AB stacking. In this study, annealed Cu foils for graphene growth were doped with
small concentrations of Ni to obtain dilute Cu(Ni) alloys in which the hydrocarbon decomposition
rate of Cu will be enhanced by Ni during synthesis of large-area AB-stacked bilayer graphene
using atmospheric pressure chemical vapour deposition. The Ni doped concentration and the Ni
homogeneous distribution in Cu foil were confirmed with inductively coupled plasma optical
emission spectrometry and proton-induced X-ray emission. An electron backscatter diffraction
map showed that Cu foils have a single (001) surface orientation which leads to a uniform growth
rate on Cu surface in early stages of graphene growth and also leads to a uniform Ni surface
concentration distribution through segregation kinetics. The increase in Ni surface concentration
in foils was investigated with time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry. The quality of graphene,
the number of graphene layers, and the layers stacking order in synthesized bilayer graphene
films were confirmed by Raman and electron diffraction measurements. A four point probe station
was used to measure the sheet resistance of graphene films. As compared to Cu foil, the prepared
dilute Cu(Ni) alloy demonstrated the good capability of growing large-area AB-stacked bilayer
graphene film by increasing Ni content in Cu surface layer. The

Influence of age, sex and pregnancy status on some blood parameters in crossbred rabbits
Blood samples were obtained from 80 rabbits of mixed breeds comprising adults, growers and weaners between June and August 2005 to determine the mean variations in packed cell volume (PCV), Haemoglobin (Hb) and Total Protein (TP) as affected by sex, age and pregnancy status. The mean variation in PCV, Hb and TP as affected by sex in the different age groups showed no significant difference (p>0.05); however the PCV and Hb values were higher in males than females, while the TP value obtained did not follow any particular trend. Non- pregnant does had consistently higher values for all the blood parameters studied than the pregnant does (Non-pregnant does, PCV = 39.50 ± 1.28, Hb = 13.17 ± 0.43 and TP = 6.87 ± 0.23; Pregnant does, PCV = 38.25 ± 0.92, Hb = 12.76 ± 0.31 and TP= 5.79 ± 0.13) with significant difference only in the TP values(P0.05) while the TP value increased with increasing age, with marked significant difference (
