This project focuses on maximizing the output energy from PV panel and maintain the amount of energy that has converted by a PV panel. Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) has been used in this project in optimizing the PV system. One of the methods of the MPPT technique which is Perturb and Observe (P&O) algorithm, easy to implement and has efficient performance in solving the optimization problem.     UDTN-RS : A new underwater delay tolerant network routing protocol for coastal patrol and surveillance

    The Coastal Patrol and Surveillance Application (CPSA) is developed and deployed to detect, track and monitor water vessel traffic using automated devices. The latest advancements of marine technologies, including Automatic Underwater Vehicles, have encouraged the development of this type of applications. To facilitate their operations, installation of a Coastal Patrol and Surveillance Network (CPSN) is mandatory. One of the primary design objectives of this network is to deliver an adequate amount of data within an effective time frame. This is particularly essential for the detection of an intruder's vessel and its notification through the adverse underwater communication channels. Additionally, intermittent connectivity of the nodes remains another important obstacle to overcome to allow the smooth functioning of CPSA. Taking these objectives and obstacles into account, this work proposes a new protocol by ensembling forward error correction technique (namely Reed-Solomon codes or RS) in Underwater Delay Tolerant Network with probabilistic spraying technique (UDTN-Prob) routing protocol, named Underwater Delay Tolerant Protocol with RS (UDTN-RS). In addition, the existing binary packet spraying technique in UDTN-Prob is enhanced for supporting encoded packet exchange between the contacting nodes. A comprehensive simulation has been performed employing DEsign, Simulate, Emulate and Realize Test-beds (DESERT) underwater simulator along with World Ocean Simulation System (WOSS) package to receive a more realistic account of acoustic propagation for identifying the effectiveness of the proposed protocol. Three scenarios are considered during the simulation campaign, namely varying data transmission rate, varying area size, and a scenario focusing on estimating the overhead ratio. Conversely, for the first two scenarios, three metrics are taken into account: normalised packet delivery ratio, delay, and normalised throughput. The acquired results for these scenarios and metrics are compared to its ancestor, i.e., UDTN-Prob. The results suggest that the proposed UDTN-RS protocol can be considered as a suitable alternative to the existing protocols like UDTN-Prob, Epidemic, and others for sparse networks like CPSN

    The Effects of Exercise on the Psycho-cognitive Function of Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) in the Young Adults

    The benefit of exercise in inducing brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) functions in relation to cognition had been reported. Nevertheless, the ambiguity remains with regards to the types of exercise and the duration of exercise required for one to have beneficial effects. In this study, we aimed to analyse the effects of varying modes of exercises and the duration required to improve BDNF functions, specifically in the young adults. The types of exercises evaluated in the meta-analysis include (1) single bout of acute aerobic exercise, (2) repeated and frequent sessions of aerobic exercise (program exercise) over a course of several weeks, and (3) resistance training. Only a single bout of acute aerobic exercise (z=4.92, p=0.00001) is sufficient to cause an increase in BDNF following exercise intervention, while program exercise (z=1.02, p=0.31) and resistance training (z=0.92, p=0.36) demonstrated inconsistencies, some exhibited significant increase in BDNF levels while others exhibited similar results with the control groups

    E-learning readiness among medical educators in Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia

    Recent advances in information technology has made e-learning feasible in many fields of education. Medical education is not any different. This survey is conducted among all the medical educators in Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) assessing their readiness and attitudes towards e-learning. A cross-sectional questionnaires assessing the IT skills, Internet usage, attitude, perceived benefits and usage of e-learning among USIM medical lecturers were used. Data gained were then analyzed. The response rate was 92%. Female (56) made majority of the respondents. 44 of the educators aged 25-34 with 56% had teaching experience of <5 years. Majority of the respondents rate their skills as intermediate in using the software. 56% uses the Internet for more than 3 h per day. Majority agreed that e-learning benefits the students in many ways. Majority also willing to learn and integrate e-learning in their teaching modalities. Despite this, many have not used e-learning in delivering lectures and accepting assignments at time of the survey. Nevertheless, while majority of medical educators are willing to incorporate e-learning in their teaching, many still have not used it. Improvement of infrastructure, training and support to all medical educators are required for successful implementation of e-learning

    Stevia rebaudiana is a plant of the Asteraceae family that is used as a natural sweet-ener. Stevia has been shown to be safe for human consumption and has been utilised as a sweetener substitute for diabetic and obese people. In this study, the structure and gene content involved in the synthesis of putative UDP-glycosyltransferase 76G1 (UGT76G1) protein in S. rebaudiana MS007 were analysed using an in-silico method. Homologous search using BlastP revealed the highest percentage of identity, score, and E-value for UDP-glycosyltransferase 76G1-like of Helianthus annuus (ID: XP_021973845.1). The presence of IPR002213 UDP-glucuronosyl/UDP-glucosyl-transferase entry, which is available at locations 89bp to 246 bp, was also verified by the protein family search using InterPro. MEGA-X software was used to construct a molecular phylogeny study, revealing that this protein belongs to the Asteraceae fam-ily. To predict the primary, secondary, and tertiary protein structures of the putative UGT76G1 protein, the ProtParam, ExPasy, PSIPRED, and Phyre2 programmes were implemented. The putative UGT76G1 protein’s tertiary structure prediction was given a score of 100.0% confidence by the single highest scoring template and a coverage of 98%, with the dimension of the model being (Å) of X: 52.453, Y: 61.270, and Z: 48.102. The UGT76G1 model fulfilled the quality standards and was approved for further analysis after validation performed by PROCHECK, VERIFY3D, and ER-RAT. Thus, the findings of this work have contributed to a better knowledge of puta-tive UDP-glycosyltransferase 76G1 features and target recognition processes, which will lead to better information on protein-protein interaction in S. rebaudiana MS007
