Application of Crow-AMSAA to Predict Failure of Centrifugal Pumps with Increasing Failure Rates
The purpose of this research is to focus on the failure model analysis on the
centrifugal pumps data using Crow-AMSAA. The data were analyzed using two
trend test methods which were Mann test and Laplace test. The data that satisfied
those tests were subjected to Crow-AMSAA failure model analysis. This project
also analyzed and evaluated the differences in the result acquired with the CrowAMSAA
analysis and the actual data. The accuracy between the two parameters
determined the accuracy of Crow-AMSAA analysis. Each of the pump selected, for
which the criteria of selection were pumps with more than 5 failure occurrences, the
result of each analysis procedure were reported. The graphs that were plotted in both
the trend test and the Crow-AMSAA analysis were presented in this report. From the
results of the analysis, the accuracy of the failure prediction of centrifugal pumps
that were made using Crow-AMSAA as the prediction model were accurate with an
error range of 16% to 19% percent
Adjustable free boundary layer floor mechanism for UiTM aerospace wind tunnel / Mohd Aswadi Mohd Razali
This project focuses on design and fabrication of an adjustable free boundary layer floor mechanism for Uitm's Aerospace Wind Tunnel. The devices will be used for wing in ground effect experiment. In order to conduct the actual experiment, the adjustable floor mechanism is needed to act as the ground. The plate must be perfectly flat to make sure no lift is generated by the floor. The plate should be adjustable in terms of height. The aluminum rod thread was used to control movement of the plate. Four legs were used to hold the plate in horizontal position and to withstand force from the air flow. The device has been tested in the UiTM's wind tunnel and could sustain up to 45 m/s of wind speed. This thesis provides discussion through the design process of the model and fabrication of the prototype. A conclusion and recommendation is presented at the end of the report
Robot creativity: humanlike behaviour in the robot-robot interaction
Artificial Intelligence development is mainly directed toward imitating human reasoning and performing different tasks. For that purpose, related software and program solution where artificial intelligence is used have mostly thinking abilities. However, there are many questions to answer in ongoing AI research, especially when we come to the point which is addressing humanlike behaviour and reasoning triggered by emotions. In this paper, we are presenting an interactive installation Botorikko: Machine Create State, which is part of the Syntropic Counterpoints art/research project. We are exposing AI cyber clones to some of the fundamental questions for humankind and challenge their creativity. The robots are trained by using the publications Machiavelli and Sun Tzu and confronted to the crucial questions related to moral, ethic, strategy, politics, diplomacy, war etc. We are using a recurrent neural network (RNN) and robot-robot interaction to trigger unsupervised robot creativity and humanlike behaviour on generated machine-made content
Videogrammetry Technique For Arm Positioning Of Bio-Production Robot
This thesis describes the development of the 'robot eye' system for agriculture robot to
predict actual distance of the target object. Videogrammetry technique and triangulation
method were used to measure distance of the target object. By 'clicking' on the image
displayed on the user interface, the 3-dimensional (3D) distance of the target from robot
arm will be generated and sending a signal to the robot to grip the selected target. The
mathematical model of the robot arm applied real time simulation and was developed for
use in the computing process. The 'robot eye' used WebCam digital cameras for 3D
coordinate measurement that displayed the real environment in the user interface that was
created using Visual Basic Version 6. The robot tool was designed, built and modified for
this project using computer control and pneumatic drive system. The emphasis of the
fabrication was to emulate the function of picking and harvesting of agricultural products.
Robot communication was developed using ICP- DAS I/O modules that remotely sense
up to a distance of 100 meters. This conceptual project is suitable for further research on 'robot eye' development using the non-contact measurement of 3D coordinate detection
of the target object in real time mode
Studies of epoxy powder coated galvanized steel substrate via electrostatic powder coating system
This research deals with epoxy powder coating on the electrolytic galvanized steel sheet
via electrostatic powder coating system. Normally, the film thickness and powder
coverage of the coated powder is not optimum. It leads to non- protection of the parts
from rusty and corrosion besides having many defects such as orange peel, rough
surface, poor adhesion and inconsistencies of colour tone. In order to produce good
coating quality, the processing parameters must be optimized. In this research, there have
three variable parameters need to investigate. The variable parameters are total air
volume, powder output and spraying distances. These parameters were screening to
determine the significant effects to the coating quality. The screening result shows the
spraying distance does not have significant effects and it was discarded. The experiments
were carrying out to determine the optimum combination of powder output and total air
volume. It is purposely to produce sample with good coating quality besides improved
the first pass transfer efficiency (FPTE). All samples were tested using same processes
that are pre-treatment, dry-off, powder spraying and curing. The method used to
investigate the coating characteristic are thickness measurement, Buchholz indentation
test, cross cut test, colour visual checking, particle cross-linking struture and surface
profile analysis. The instruments used to evaluate the samples are coating thickness
gauge, Buchholz indentor, multi blade cutting tools, spectrophotometer, scanning
electron microscope (SEM) and surface profiler. The experimental result shows the
combination of 4.0 m³/h of total air volume and 150 g/min of powder output produce
good coated sample with optimum thickness and colour tone. It also has good particle
crosslinking structure and surface profiler. The coating indentation resistant and
adhesion for this sampe is able to protect the galvanized steel from corrosion and rusty
The influences of service quality dimension towards customer satisfaction at Takaful Company in Malacca / Norhayu Mohd Razali
The title of this research is “The Influences of Service Quality Dimension towards Customer Satisfaction at Takaful Company in Malacca”. The first purpose of this research is to examine the level of service quality that influences customer satisfaction at Takaful Company in Malacca. The study was guided by three factors which are reliability, responsiveness and empathy from the SERQUAL. The study used a descriptive survey design. The study employed descriptive analysis technique on both primary and secondary data. To collect primary data, asset of questionnaire was administered to the customers that are selected from the majorTakaful Company in Malacca. The target population of study was the customer in the agencies of Takaful Company. The sample population for the study consisted of 63respondents selected from the target population of respondents using convenient sampling. In order to completing this research, the hypothesis was been constructed and focused on the objective to determine whether there has significant relationship between those independent variables with customer satisfaction. The reliability test, frequency analysis, descriptive testing and Pearson’s Correlation coefficient testing was used for data analysis. From correlation testing, the results shown that two of the independent variables have a moderate relationship between customer satisfactions. For hypothesis, there are shown that two of the hypotheses which is reliability and responsiveness are supported

The burden of mental illness : an emerging global disaster / Mohd Razali Salleh.
The global burden of disease (GBD) has shifted from communicable to non-communicable diseases, and from premature death to years live with disabilities (YLDs) over the past 30 years. Mental and substance use disorders constitute a major component in the scenario of the global health with a significant impact on the global burden of disease, especially in the developing countries. The 1990 GBD study listed depression as the fourth common cause of global burden of disease; while lower respiratory infections, diarrheal diseases and conditions arising during perinatal period are top in the list. In GBD 2000 study depressive disorders climbed to the third place, however still behind lower respiratory infections and diarrheal diseases. The subsequent 2010 GBD study ranked depression in the second place of the global disability burden, and are also considered as a major contributor to the burden of suicide and ischaemic heart disease. The WHO predicted that depressive disorders will be the leading cause of global burden in 2030
A Framework for Controlling Wheelchair Motion by using Gaze Information
Users with severe motor ability are unable to control their wheelchair using standard joystick and hence an alternative control input is preferred. In this paper a method on how to enable the severe impairment user to control a wheelchair via gaze information is proposed. Since when using such an input, the navigation burden for the user is significantly increased, an assistive navigation platform is also proposed to reduce the user burden. Initially, user information is inferred using a camera and a bite-like switch. Then information from the environment is obtained using combination of laser and Kinect sensors. Eventually, both information from the environment and the user is analyzed to decide the final control operation that according to the user intention and safe from collision. Experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed approach
