The Quality of e-Ridesharing: Are the e-Ridesharing Passengers Satisfied?

    Get PDF
The rise of ridesharing e-booking applications in Malaysia with their interesting features and characteristics seems to give a huge impact on the transportation industry. However, there are several issues pertaining to security, safety, legality, and regulations. Three primary service quality dimensions of e-ridesharing, which are considered fit and suitable in the context of the current study, are identified, including app quality, interaction quality, and physical environment quality. 487 questionnaires were used for data analyses. The subdimensions were verified using an exploratory factor, and regression analysis was conducted further. The result indicates that e-ridesharing service quality dimensions, which include app quality, interaction quality, and physical environment quality, are able to improve passengers’ satisfaction and re-ride intention. The findings are expected to help increase the quality of services offered by the service providers and contribute to the body of knowledge which can be replicated in the various service industries

Absenteeism is an act of habitual absence from work or schools. Absenteeism is considered as one of the worst social problem that may lead into another social problems, such as theft, drug, and bullying. Chronic absenteeism affects the performance of the individual; as well as those around them. In the context of Malaysian, Ministry of Education recorded that more than 37, 000 students were found absence from schools in the year 2017. Recent survey on the similar issue within the university context show that approximately 15 students were barred from examination due to poor attendance. Henceforth, there is a need for a new mechanism to replaced conventional attendance taking method. Therefore, Autonomous Attendance Monitoring System (AMoS) was developed in three stages. First, a qualitative study was conducted to investigate the problem with attendance monitoring. Then, the prototype of AMoS was developed based on PHP programming language, MySQL database, HTML5, CSS3, and jQuery. Lastly, a quantitative study was conducted to measure the extent of user satisfaction towards using AMoS. In term of novelty, AMoS improved the current absenteeism workflow implemented at UiTM, introduce new novel ideas of autonomous YY-ZZ monitoring, and a new absenteeism scale Ami-X. The system can be commercialized to any organization, such as academic institution; kindergarten, schools, universities, boarding schools, etc. The prototype of AMoS is protected by Copyright Act 1987, and available online at Google Play Stor

New highly accurate iterative method of third order convergence for finding the multiple roots of nonlinear equations

    Get PDF
We present a new third order convergence iterative method for m multiple roots of nonlinear equation. The proposed method requires one evaluation of function and two evaluations of the first derivative of function. In numerical tests exhibit that the present method provides provides high accuracy numerical result as compared to other methods. The stability of the dynamical behaviour of iterative method is investigated by displaying the basin of attraction. Basin of attraction displays less black points which give us wider choices of initial guess in computation

Third order convergence iterative method for multiple roots of nonlinear equation

We present a new third order convergence iterative method for solving multiple roots of nonlinear equation, which requires one function evaluation and two evaluation of first derivative of function per step. Our present method free from second derivative function. Error term is proved to possess a third order method. Numerical experiments exhibit that our method gives the smallest error of bound per iteration and it is highly accurate as compared to other existing iterative methods

In this paper, we derive a new modified third order convergence iterative methods for computing multiple roots of non-linear equations. Our proposed scheme requires one evaluation of function and two evaluations of first derivative. Error term is proved to possess a third order. Numerical performance shows that the proposed method provides a highest accuracy results as compared to other existing third order iterative methods

Performance and emission control of using steam injection on medium-speed marine diesel engine running with biodiesel fuel

    Get PDF
Biodiesel fuel has been categorized as one of the promising renewable energy and at the same time can reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. Yet despite its many advantages, literature studies report that engines running with biodiesel fuel produce slightly less power and higher NOx gas emissions compared to standard diesel fuel. One of the possible ways to reduce NOx gas from marine engines running on biodiesel fuel is by injecting steam water into the air intake engine system. Therefore, this study attempts to investigate the effect of steam injection incorporated with biodiesel fuel on the performance and emissions of marine diesel engines. Experiments were conducted on medium-speed Cummins marine engines using biodiesel blends with concentrations of 10%, 20%, and 30%. The results show that the use of steam does not have a significant effect on the torque and power of the marine engine. However, steam injection methods have successfully reduced the emissions of hazardous gases of nitrogen oxide and carbon monoxide by 37.2% and 66.7%, respectively. Furthermore, fuel consumption rate is also more economical as shown by the BSFC value decreasing up to 15.2%. Overall, the steam injection method can compensate for the lack of performance found in biodiesel fuel when used on marine diesel engines

Roles of human milk miRNAs and microbiota in infants gut: a systematic review

Early-life breastfeeding practice provides multiple advantages to infant subsequently contributing to significant short- as well as long-term positive health outcomes. The current notion suggested that in the first 1000 days of life, infant’s body is susceptible to external factors and highly inducible towards complex repertoire of components originated from mother’s milk. This condition permits diverse components of human breast milk ranging from microRNA and microbiome to larger size macronutrient to act by supplementing and supporting their under-developed body system in early life. Currently, the discoveries of milk miRNA as key effectors in multiple biological processes in different infant’s organs including gastrointestinal tract are growing rapidly. In addition, the perception on the translocation of bacteria from mother’s intestine to breast milk has given rise to the idea that these bacteria may as well dynamically transferred to the infant and provide protection to poor barrier integrity of their gut. Hence, the aim of this paper is to conduct a systematic review in order to collect, compile, and extract data related to human milk miRNAs and microbiota as well as their functions in infant’s gut following the relevant guidelines of Preferred Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Protocols (PRISMA). A systematic search will be done on at least three databases such as Scopus, PubMed and Medline using relevant Medical Subject Headings (MESH) terms including human milk AND miRNA AND (microbiota OR microbiome) AND (infant OR child OR children) AND (gut OR intestine OR intestinal) from 2011 through 2021. From the databases, papers obtained will be sorted accordingly based on the objective, and inclusion and exclusion criteria and subject to Crowe Critical Appraisal Tool (CCAT) to further assess and ensure the quality, validity and eligibility of the research papers before reviewing thoroughly. This study is expected to provide a comprehensive presentation and information on the types of miRNAs and microbial species as well as their roles, functions and importance in boosting the system within infant’s gut. In depth, the miRNAs that capable of inducing genetic expression of their target genes or regulate particular important signalling pathways that would be beneficial in enhancing the immune system within infant’s gut may be presented in this study. Similarly, for some beneficial microbial species in the gut such as Lactobacilli with unique mechanisms and mode of actions in preventing the colonization of pathogenic bacterial within infant’s gastrointestinal tract and reduce clinical infection
