Water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) is one of Indonesia's wild plants which is considered a weed because of its rapid growth that can cause environmental problems. Generally, water hyacinth control is carried out physically/conventionally by throwing it away or burning it, causing new environmental problems. Water hyacinth has a high organic matter content, therefore water hyacinth can be used as an alternative feed to increase the production of earthworms. This study aims to determine the effect of adding water hyacinth as feed to increasing the production of earthworms (Lumbricus rubellus). This study aims to determine the effect of adding water hyacinth as feed to increasing the production of earthworms (Lumbricus rubellus). The research was conducted in the Dasan Dao hamlet, Ranggagata Village, Southwest Praya District, Central Lombok Regency, in the researcher's private house for 60 days. This type of research is an experimental research. The research design used was a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 4 replications. Treatments were P0 (0 grams of water hyacinth), P1 (50 grams of water hyacinth), P2 (100 grams of water hyacinth), P3 (150 grams of water hyacinth). Parameters observed were the number and weight of earthworms. The results showed that the treatment had a significant effect on the weight and number of earthworms (P<0.05). The results of the treatment on the number of earthworms P0;P1;P2;P3 were 84;93.75;117.25;127.5 and the weight of earthworms was 85;102.5;118.75;124.75. The highest number and weight of earthworms were found in the P3 treatment (150 g of water hyacinth). The conclusion of this research is the addition of water hyacinth as feed can increase the number and weight of earthworms

Adopting Contractors’ Risk Management (CIRIM) Framework using Multi Dimensional Theories

    Get PDF
In general, many contractors in Malaysia are found to have a limited expertise in developing an appropriate strategy to mitigate project risks. Consequently, this has led contractors struggling to complete the project on schedule, within the client’s budget and quality parameters. This was proven by the current issues on the delayed projects reported in the Ninth Malaysian Plan. Currently in Malaysia, there is no existing risk management framework specifically designed for contractors. Thus, the idea of introducing CIRIM among the Malaysian contractors is a proactive approach to achieve better project objectives. This paper therefore proposes to introduce the CIRIM framework to be adopted by the Malaysian contractors. The research methodology applied in the main research includes literature reviews, questionnaires and interviews. It is found that although there are some forms of risk management systems being used in the Malaysian construction industry, most of them are not well structured, documented and implemented in a formal manner. Therefore, the idea of establishing the CIRIM framework among Malaysian contractors is paramount and justified. Keywords: Risk Management, Contractors, CIRIM, Construction, Malaysia

This Regulation of the Minister of Transportation Number 25 of 2020 regulates the transportation system during the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) implementation, especially related to the 2020 Idul Fitri Homecoming. The formulation of the problem in this study: first, how could the elements of actions be categorized as violations of criminal law norms? second, could the violation of the prohibition of homecoming be categorized as a violation in the criminal law?. The purpose of this study is to find out that violations of the homecoming ban have met the elements that can be categorized as violations of criminal law norms. The research method used normative legal research for this research and used the Theory of Legal Effectiveness for the theory. This study concludes that: First, an act that can be categorized as a violation of criminal law, then there must be elements of a criminal act, both from a theoretical and legal point of view. Second, that the Ministerial Regulation (Permen) cannot contain criminal provisions

Patent foramen ovale (PFO) is usually asymptomatic; however, it could be quite dangerous for patients with right side clot in which thrombus can transmit the PFO and paradoxically emboli to systemic circulation. Here we present a patient with ankle fracture and paradoxical embolus to the brain, who was successfully treated with emergent thrombectomy, inferior vena cava (IVC) filter placement and anticoagulation therapy. Despite the high rate of mortality in these patients, fortunately our patient survived with surgical treatment

Preference of the metallic blue ladybeetle Curinus coeruleus Mulsant for different nymphal instars of Diaphorina citri Kuwayama (Homoptera: Psyllidae)

The preference of the metallic blue ladybeetle, Curinus coeruleus Mulsant for Asian citrus psyllid, Diaphorina citri Kuwayama was investigated in the insectary. The aim was to determine whether there was any preference by C. coeruleus at different stages for different instars of the psyllid D. citri. The 1st and 2nd instar larvae exhibited preference for smaller-sized prey, while the 3rd and 4th instar larvae and adult mostly preferred the 4th and 5th instar nymphs. The highest preference value recorded for each stage of the predator, 1st to 4th instar larvae and adult, were 0.49, 0.29, 0.33, 0.33 and 0.34, respectively on the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 4th and 4th instar nymphs. The probability of capture indicated significant differences among prey instars captured by each stage of predator. The 1st and 2nd instar larvae captured significantly more 1st and 2nd instar nymphs than the other instar nymphs. In contrast, 3rd and 4th instar larvae and adult predator captured significantly more 4th and 5th instar nymphs. Hence, the results suggest that C. coeruleus exhibited body size preference for D. citri nymphs comparable to or slightly smaller than predator's size (stages). This preference was due to the probability of success in capturing the prey
