The Effectiveness of Electronic Scheduling Template: Case Study on Composite Based Product’s Company

This paper discusses the effectiveness of electronic scheduling template used by manufacturing planner in a composite based product’s company. The company is manufacturing company and one of the suppliers for Airbus. To produce the composite based product for aerospace industry, it involves various types of composite materials, manufacturing processes and procedures. In addition, it requires highly cost. The other reason is that, manufacturing activities should be well-planned to avoid over expenses on material usage, and meeting the customer deadline. For the application of template, a product was selected for validation. The results positively show the improvement of time to predict the data and the accuracy of the data

Initial Study Of Factors On Green Supply Chain Management, Green Supplier Strategy And Work System Performance

In implementing green supply chain initiatives, this paper aims to explore the level of green supplier, manufacturing efficiency, environmental behaviour and company activities. In addition, the relationship between environmental practices and consumer behaviours in manufacturing was also examined. Towards this, the data was collected among Malaysian manufacturing firms using questionnaire-based survey. From the results, it is showing that the manufacturing performance through the implementation of green supply chain management has a positive relationship to environmental action and customer activities

Late-presenting congenital diaphragmatic hernia with tension gastrothorax: a case series

Introduction: Congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) is commonly diagnosed during neonatal period, however they may be detected at a later age with various clinical manifestation. We share 3 cases of tension gastrothorax as a manifestation of late-onset CDH. Case summary: Case 1: A 10-month-old boy presented with worsening respiratory distress requiring intubation. Chest radiograph revealed a huge lucency in the left hemithorax with mediastinal shift which improved after nasogastric tube insertion. CT thorax confirmed the diagnosis of left CDH. Laparotomy revealed 5x6 cm posterolateral defect was seen, content completely reduced and the defect was primarily repaired. Case 2: A 22-month-old baby boy presented with rapid breathing with reduced air entry on the left side. Chest radiograph revealed a lucent left hemithorax causing mediastinal shift. Patient was misdiagnosed as tension pneumothorax and tube thoracostomy was performed in emergency department. CT thorax confirmed presence of CDH and surgical referral was made for primary repair. No stomach injury due to chest tube insertion was seen. Case 3: A 12-month-old boy presented with abdominal pain and intractable crying. Chest X-ray suggestive of CDH. Ultrasound assessment showed a suspicion of left CDH with gastric volvulus. Hence, emergency laparotomy was performed . Content was reduced completely and healthy. Primary repair was performed. Conclusion: Late-onset CDH with a tension gastrothorax must be recognised and managed promptly to relief the mediastinal shift. Misdiagnosis of a tension pneumothorax poses a risk of stomach perforation following tube thoracotomy. Suspicion of gastric volvulus otherwise requires an urgent exploration

Penyeragaman sistem ejaan Jawi di negara ASEAN

Dalam kalangan negara ASEAN, Brunei merupakan satu-satunya negara yang masih mempertahankan tulisan Jawi sebagai tulisan rasmi di samping tulisan Rumi. Walaupun di negara ASEAN yang lain tulisan Jawi bukan tulisan rasmi, namun tulisan ini masih digunakan terutama di Malaysia, Singapura, Indonesia, Thailand, Kemboja dan Filipina. Namun begitu, perkembangan sistem ejaan baharu hanya dapat dikesan di Malaysia, Brunei dan Singapura yang berpandukan buku Daftar Kata Bahasa Melayu: Rumi-Sebutan-Jawi (DKBM) terbitan Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Malaysia. Di negara lain, kebanyakannya masih menggunakan sistem ejaan Jawi lama seperti yang terdapat dalam kitab agama di pondok pengajian Islam di sana. Oleh itu, kajian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan dan menyeragamkan ejaan Jawi lama dan baharu untuk dicadangkan kepada pihak Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka di Malaysia supaya dapat diterima dan digunakan di seluruh negara ASEAN. Bagi mencapai tujuan tersebut, tiga buah kitab bercetak yang masyhur di Alam Melayu telah dipilih untuk dibandingkan dengan ejaan Jawi baharu DKBM. Kitab tersebut ialah Munyat al-Mushalli karangan Syeikh Daud al-Fatani, Hidayat al-Salikin karangan Syeikh Abdul Samad al-Falimbani dan Sabil al-Muhtadin karangan Syeikh Muhammad Arsyad al-Banjari. Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa ketiga-tiga kitab ini sudah pun menggunakan sistem ejaan yang menyamai sistem ejaan Jawi baharu. Hal ini menunjukkan bahawa usaha penyeragaman sistem ejaan Jawi di negara ASEAN boleh dilakukan

The results shows that the manufacturing performance through the implementation of green supply chain management has a positive relationship to environmental action and customer activities

THE TRANSLATIONAL PROCESS OF CLEANER PRODUCTION STRATEGIES

Cleaner Production (CP) is recognised as one of the best practice in dealing with environmental issues. The execution of CP can be realised by integrating the environmental management system with the technology through a proper translational process ranging from low or no cost solutions to high cost of investment. From the literature, eight keys element of the translational process have been identified. Discussion and exploration on each element were found to have direct and indirect effects of each other’s in the entire manufacturing process. Further examination showed that the proper execution of translational process have a major impact in improving environmental performance while creating more sustainable production systems. The findings from this paper can serve as a guideline for the manufacturers to develop an effective’s actions and strategies for the successful execution of CP and thus meet the requirements of global environmental management practice
