    In preparing the test items, the test maker must take care of using suitable type of test items and diversifying it. Each test item has criteria, advantages, and disadvantages that need to be considered. This research aims to reveal the distribution and diversification of Arabic grammar test items for the third grade in the Junior High School in Batu City. The research is qualitative and descriptive, as it describes the research sample according to a theory and reveals the hidden phenomena. The primary research sample is the Arabic grammar test items for the third grade of Junior High School in the 2019-2020 school year that include the contents taken from the textbook "An-nahwu Al-wadih". The research concluded that the teacher diversified the test with some types of tests. The test is divided into four types of test that include objective and subjective tests such as multiple choice, short answer, completion or filling the blank, and essay. The comprehensive preparation prepared by the evaluation administrations, such as the test item outline, will help the question maker develop the skills of preparing test items. Keywords: Arabic Grammar, Diversification, Evaluation, Items Test, Nahwu, Syntax.   ملخص عند إعداد بنود الاختبار ، يجب على معد الاختبار أن يعتني باستخدام النوع المناسب من بنود الاختبار وتنويعه. لكل بوع الاختبار معايير ومزايا وعيوب يجب مراعاتها.  يهدف هذا البحث إلى الكشف عن توزيع وتنويع بنود اختبار النحو للصف الثالث بالمدرسة المتوسطة بمدينة باتو. يعتبر البحث بحثا نوعيًا ووصفيًا حيث أنه يصف عينة البحث وفق نظرية ويكشف الظواهر الخفية. عينة البحث الأولية هي بنود اختبار النحو للصف الثالث المتوسط للعام الدراسي 2019-2020 ومحتوياتها مأخوذة من الكتاب المقرر "النحو الواضح". وخلصت الدراسة أنه قد قام المدرس بتنويع الاختبارات التي تنقسم إلى أربعة أنواع من الاختبارات التي تشمل الاختبار الموضوعي وغير الموضوعي مثل الاختيار من متعدد والإجابة القصيرة والتكملة والمقال. والإعداد الشامل من إداريات التقويم، مثل مخطط بنود الاختبار لأنه يساعد معدّ الاختبار على تطوير مهارات إعداد بنود الاختبار. الكلمات الرئيسية: نحو ، تنويع ، تقويم ، بنود الاختبا

    Constructing Arabic Grammar Test Items Involving Higher-Order Thinking Skills; The Obstacles Against the Teachers

    Students of language classes need assessments of their higher-order thinking abilities to prepare them to face the challenges of globalization and the future. Teachers’ abilities and supporting external variables become crucial to achieve this goal. This current study intended to identify and describe obstacles experienced by teachers when constructing test items that reflect students’ higher-order thinking skills. As qualitative descriptive research, this study would comprehensively reveal hidden phenomena and natural conditions using various data analysis tools, such as interviews, observation, and documentation. An Arabic grammar teacher at a private junior high school in Batu City was taken as the research sample. The study discovered that the quality of Arabic grammar test items to reflect higher-order thinking skills is affected by at least two factors: internal and external; the former includes the teacher’s educational and professional qualifications, while the latter comprises stakeholder support and the curriculum

    This article aims to describe the understanding of TSR and its meaning in the context of community language learning and experimental learning. For this reason, literature review and FGD are used as research methods. The TSR model learning method is learning based on translating the mother language into the target language. The TSR learning model has meaning that is relevant to the principles of Charles A.     This research examines the application of nadzom memorization method at An-Najah Islamic boarding school Denanyar Jombang. This is a traditional method but continues to be applied and the application system is developing now. There are several activities of this method to support students in their memorization and ability to read and understand Arabic books even though they are also learning outside school. In addition, their memorization is also a requirement for taking the final exam. This research aims to describe the application and effectiveness of this method for learning Arabic grammar. It uses qualitative research methods. Data are collected by interview, observation, documentation, and evaluation result. The data are analyzed using the Miles and Huberman data analysis model. Triangulation is used to verify the validity of the data. The results of this research show that there are four activities around the application of this method. There is daily memorization, memorization evaluation, memorization exam, and festival Serina. This is an effective method used in learning Arabic grammar. It can be seen from the results of the nadzom memorization exam and the evaluation results about Arabic grammar which researchers have tested. Their exam and evaluation scores showed promising results. This proves the effectiveness of this method in learning Arabic grammar at An-Najah Islamic boarding schools.قام هذا البحث بدراسة تطبيق طريقة حفظ النظم في تعلم قواعد اللغة العربية في معهد النجاح دينايار جومباع. تكون هذه الطريقة طريقة تقليدية لكن يستمر ويتطور نظام تطبيقها. هناك العديد من العملية المتعلقة بهذه الطريقة رغم أن الطلبة يتعلّمون أيضا خارج المعهد. ويصبح الحفظ شرطا من شروط متابعة الامتحان.  أما هدف هذا البحث وصف تطبيق هذه الطريقة وفعاليتها في تعلّم الطلبة قواعد اللغة العربية في ذلك المعهد. استخدم هذا  البحث طريقة البحث النوعي. جمعت البيانات بالمقابلة والملاحظة والتوثيق والامتحان. وحلّت البيانات باستخدام نموذج تحليل البيانات عند ميلس وهوبرمان واستخدم التثليث لتحقق صحة البيانات. توضح نتائج هذا البحث أن هناك أربعة برامج حول تطبيق طريقة حفظ النظم في معهد النجاح وهي المحافظة اليومية والمحافظة الكبرى واختبار المحافظة ومهرجان ألف نظم. ويعتبر تطبيق هذه الطريقة طريقة فعالة في تعلم قواعد اللغة العربية بسبب وجود الدلالة من المقابلة والملاحظة ونتائج اختبار المحافظة والامتحان من الباحثة عن فهم قواعد اللغة العربية على درجة جيدة

    This research aimed at describing the application of Lesson Study to increase lecturer’s teacing performance in teaching Nahwu. The researchers used classroom action research in two cycles. The subjects of this research were the students taking Nahwu course with low competence. The result showed that the lecturer model was successful to enhance his patience which he did not recognise before to solve his teaching performance of “difficult” course, i.e. discussing the problem with his colleagues. The observer of this Lesson Study scored 95% for the success of applying Lesson Study, and 98% for the positive change of each step done

    Epitome solution to nahw instruction: Strategies toward i’rab reading abilities for students

    Over the time, nahw (Arabic syntax) instruction has been conducted by traditional means. It used to be the al-qira’ah wa al-tarjamah method that was in use. But today, epitome emerges in the place of such a method. Epitome has been proven able to motivate students and to improve learning efficiency. This work is present to describe not only the steps to nahw instruction by epitome, but also the factors that support its success. It manifests from the author’s past research at Pondok Pesantren Salafiyah Putri Al Ishlahiyah Malang, in which epitome was implemented in the nahw instruction for the students. Data were collected through observation of the instruction activity, interview with the teachers, committee members, and students directly involved in the implementation of the epitome medium, and structured interview with some alumni regarding the benefits of nahw for the community. This work suggests three points. First, with epitome, students have an easier time understanding nahw. Second, the students’ inner motivation has a strong effect on their success in learning nahw, especially in i’rab. Third, epitome not only makes it easy for the students to learn nahw, but also provides them with opportunities to participate more actively in nahw learning, which, over this time, has been regarded a difficult and unstimulating

    Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan alumni Jurusan Sastra Arab Universitas Negeri Malang dalam mengembangkan bahan ajar Bahasa Arab inovatif. Kegiatan ini perlu untuk dilakukan mengingat inovasi dan kreatifitas penyiapan bahan ajar inovatif diperlukan khususnya dalam menghadapi gelombang kegawatdaruratan akibat pandemic Covid-19. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dalam lima fase yaitu persiapan, sosialisasi, pelatihan, pendampingan dan implementasi. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan secara daring melalui platform zoom meeting. Evaluasi dan hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah peningkatan kualitas dan kemampuan alumni dalam menyiapkan bahan ajar berupa modul, e-modul, booklet, aplikasi mobile dan berbagai bahan ajar inovatif lainnya. Sebagai refleksi, kegiatan ini mampu memberikan sumbangsih nyata dalam dunia pendidikan dan pembelajaran khususnya penyiapan SDM unggul dari alumni agar mampu bersaing di dunia kerja.  Kata kunci: bahan ajar, alumni, bahasa Arab, pengabdian masyaraka

    Abstract: This research aims at describing: (1) design of using direct method in paired storytelling method to improve the student grade two’s speaking skill at upper secondary islamic school, (2) procedure of using direct method in paired storytelling method to improve the student grade two’s speaking skill at upper secondary islamic school. This research used Classroom Action Research. The result of this research showed that (1) this Classroom Action Research was designed in four step, that is determine which method in accordance with the condition of the student, prepare medium of learning, made strides of learning, planned of learning speaking skill, and prepare the criteria of assesment. (2) this Classroom Action Research was conducted in three cycles. Student’s scores increased to “very good” predicate with average score as big as “82” even 7 students acquired “excellent” predicate by the end of the meeting. Keywords: Paired Storytelling Method, Direct Method, Speaking skill.
