    Control Method Of Circulating Refrigerant Amount For Heat Pump System

    A heat pump system requires proper refrigerant charge amount. Once refrigerant is charged into a heat pump system, its charge amount is fixed. For this reason, prediction of optimal refrigerant charge amount is very important in order to yield best performance. Too low charge amount degrades capacity of heat pump. On the other hand, excessive charge amount decreases coefficient of performance (COP). The optimal value of refrigerant charge amount highly depends on secondary fluid temperature conditions. Consequently, fixed charge amount of refrigerant in heat pump shows the best performance only at certain temperature condition. Several ideas have revealed to change charge amount of the heat pump system. One is to have an additional reservoir to store or release refrigerant which is attached to a heat pump system. This method may seem simple but to measure exact amount of refrigerant in reservoir, additional pressure transducer, temperature measurement device, level sensor and other apparatus are required that increase the cost of heat pump. Another idea is to have reservoir between condenser outlet and expansion device. Rajapaksha and Suen (2004) showed that existence of reservoir at this point helps improve capacity while reducing the system COP. In this study, a new method for refrigerant charge amount control technique is presented. It has very simple control logic and requires only a few additional cost factors; several valves and additional tubes are only required. This method is based on different refrigerant phase distribution at each point of inlet and outlet of components in heat pump system. In a simple cycle heat pump system, refrigerant at condenser outlet (before expansion device) is in a subcooled liquid state at high pressure, while refrigerant is in a superheated vapor state at evaporator outlet (before compressor inlet) at low pressure. This technique regulates refrigerant charge by holding some volume of refrigerant in the connecting tube of considerable volume installed between the condenser outlet and the evaporator outlet. Using several solenoid valves (on/off) desired amount of refrigerant can be stored into a volume provided by a connecting tube. This connected volume is referred as โ€˜stagnation volumeโ€™ (Vstag). When one of this installed valve is closed and the rest of the valves are open, certain amount of refrigerant is stored in the stagnation volume (Vstag) while operating heat pump system. If closed valve is adjacent to condenser outlet, charge amount to the heat pump system increases while the charge is reduced when the valve adjacent to evaporator outlet is closed. This method is numerically verified and there are very little variation of COP. Therefore, heat pump can be operated at optimized circulating amount of refrigerant in spite of the secondary fluid temperature variation during heating or cooling operation

    In the title compound, C22H25NO3, the molยญecule has a pseudo-mirror plane. The structure is a positional isomer of 2,4-bis(4-methoxyยญphenyl)-3-azaยญbicycloยญ[3.3.1]nonan-9-one [Cox, McCabe, Milne & Sim (1985 โ–ถ). J. Chem. Soc. Chem. Commun. pp.ย 626โ€“628]. The 3-azaยญbicycloยญ[3.3.1]nonan-9-one moiety adopts a double chair conformation with equatorial orientations of both 2-methoxyยญphenyl substituents on either side of the secondary amino group. The benzene rings are oriented at an angle of 33.86โ€…(4)ยฐ with respect to each other and the methยญoxy groups point towards the carbonyl group. The crystal structure is stabilized by intermolecular Nโ€”Hโ‹ฏฯ€ interยญactions

    A Comparison of Dimensional Standard of Several Nickel-Titanium Rotary Files

    Objectives The aim of this study was to compare the dimensional standard of several nickel-titanium (Ni-Ti) rotary files and verify the size conformity. Materials and Methods ProFile (Dentsply Maillefer), RaCe (FKG Dentaire), and TF file (SybronEndo) #25 with a 0.04 and 0.06 taper were investigated, with 10 in each group for a total of 60 files. Digital images of Ni-Ti files were captured under light microscope (SZX16, Olympus) at 32ร—. Taper and diameter at D1 to D16 of each files were calculated digitally with AnalySIS TS Materials (OLYMPUS Soft Imaging Solutions). Differences in taper, the diameter of each level (D1 to D16) at 1 mm interval from (ANSI/ADA) specification No. 101 were statistically analyzed using one-way ANOVA and Scheffe\u27s post-hoc test at 95% confidence level. Results TF was the only group not conform to the nominal taper in both tapers (p \u3c 0.05). All groups except 0.06 taper ProFile showed significant difference from the nominal diameter (p \u3c 0.05). Conclusions Actual size of Ni-Ti file, especially TF, was different from the manufacturer\u27s statements

    Growth and differentiation factor 11 (GDF11) is a transforming growth factor ฮฒ family member that has been identified as the central player of anterior-posterior (A-P) axial skeletal patterning. Mice homozygous for Gdf11 deletion exhibit severe anterior homeotic transformations of the vertebrae and craniofacial defects. During early embryogenesis, Gdf11 is expressed predominantly in the primitive streak and tail bud regions, where new mesodermal cells arise. On the basis of this expression pattern of Gdf11 and the phenotype of Gdf11 mutant mice, it has been suggested that GDF11 acts to specify positional identity along the A-P axis either by local changes in levels of signaling as development proceeds or by acting as a morphogen. To further investigate the mechanism of action of GDF11 in the vertebral specification, we used a Cdx2-Cre transgene to generate mosaic mice in which Gdf11 expression is removed in posterior regions including the tail bud, but not in anterior regions. The skeletal analysis revealed that these mosaic mice display patterning defects limited to posterior regions where Gdf11 expression is deficient, whereas displaying normal skeletal phenotype in anterior regions where Gdf11 is normally expressed. Specifically, the mosaic mice exhibited seven true ribs, a pattern observed in wild-type (wt) mice (vs. 10 true ribs in Gdf11-/- mice), in the anterior axis and nine lumbar vertebrae, a pattern observed in Gdf11 null mice (vs. six lumbar vertebrae in wt mice), in the posterior axis. Our findings suggest that GDF11, rather than globally acting as a morphogen secreted from the tail bud, locally regulates axial vertebral patterning

    Validation in the Cross-Cultural Adaptation of the Korean Version of the Oswestry Disability Index

    Disability questionnaires are used for clinical assessment, outcome measurement, and research methodology. Any disability measurement must be adapted culturally for comparability of data, when the patients, who are measured, use different languages. This study aimed to conduct cross-cultural adaptation in translating the original (English) version of the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) into Korean, and then to assess the reliability of the Korean versions of the Oswestry Disability Index (KODI). We used methodology to obtain semantic, idiomatic, experimental, and conceptual equivalences for the process of cross-cultural adaptation. The KODI were tested in 116 patients with chronic low back pain. The internal consistency and reliability for the KODI reached 0.9168 (Cronbach's alpha). The test-retest reliability was assessed with 32 patients (who were not included in the assessment of Cronbach's alpha) over a time interval of 4 days. Test-retest correlation reliability was 0.9332. The entire process and the results of this study were reported to the developer (Dr. Fairbank JC), who appraised the KODI. There is little evidence of differential item functioning in KODI. The results suggest that the KODI is internally consistent and reliable. Therefore, the KODI can be recommended as a low back pain assessment tool in Korea

    Retropharyngeal abscess coinfected with and after rhinoviral infection in a 1-month-old infant

    A retropharyngeal abscess is a rare disease entity in young infants but can develop after nasopharyngeal viral infection. Group B Streptococcus and Staphylococcus aureus are the most common pathogens in young infants, however, Mycobacterium tuberculosis is very rare. We report the case of retropharyngeal abscess and coinfection with S. aureus and M. tuberculosis in a very young infant presenting with respiratory symptoms due to upper airway obstruction. Usually tuberculous retropharyngeal abscesses are caused by the direct invasion of the bacteria from the spine via anterior longitudinal ligament of the spine. However, in this case, no associated spinal disease was observed
