    Fast Thermo-reflectance Bolometry

    Get PDF
We present a new approach to bolometry based on the measurement of the optical reflectivity change of a thin metal layer deposited on a transparent substrate. The reflectivity change of the metal layer results from the temperature rise due to absorption of energetic particles or X-rays. With this spectrally broadband and fast technique measurements of absolute energy fluxes are possible. Contact-less sensing makes this method well suited for measurements in an environment with a strong electro-magnetic noise.\ud The technique was applied to characterize a newly developed method for the generation of electron beams in dense gases. A very high efficiency for the e-beam generation, approaching 100%, was measured for the first time

Key words: Markov-modulated queues, waiting time, heavy traffic.Markov-modulated queueing systems are those in which the input process or service mechanism is influenced by an underlying Markov chain. Several models for such systems have been investigated. In this paper we present heavy traffic analysis of single queueing system with Poisson arrival process whose arrival rate is a function of the state of Markov chain and service times depend on the state of the same Markov chain at the epoch of arrivals

Evaluation of the trachea and bronchi for infiltration and ruptures of a neoplastic process originating from the thyroid gland

Background: evaluation of the trachea and bronchi for infiltration and ruptures of a neoplastic process originating from the thyroid gland. Methods: virtual bronchoscopy with multidetector computed tomography; standard criteria. Results: The present is a case of changes in the shape of the trachea from external compression, stenosis and dislocation, diagnosed with virtual bronchoscopy in a woman of 57 years, as a result of a tumour formation, originating from the thyroid gland (struma nodosa). The described morphological characteristics of the findings from the axial and multiplanar reconstructions of the native and intravenous post-contrast computed tomography point to the benign characteristics of the formationConclusions: with virtual bronchoscopy, the degree of stenosis and its length can be established, a lack of infiltration of the wall by the formation can be proved, as well as the absence of enlarged lymph nodes. Virtual bronchoscopy allows making evaluation of the carina. VB of the CT examination did not detect infiltrations and abnormalities of the wall as fistulous passages, and no evidence of tracheal and bronchial ruptures from the described neoplastic process

THE ROLE OF SMALL STATES IN INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AFTER THE BEGINNING OF UKRANIAN WAR IN 2022 – CASE STUDY OF NORTH MACEDONIA AND SERBIA

The role of small states in international relations throughout history has been the subjectof theorists of the science of international relations, and even today there is a lively debateabout whether, in what way and to what extent small states contribute to international relationsin ongoing processes in international relations. The key question that dominates the realistictheory of international relations is whether small states can have an independent foreignpolicy at all, thus whether they can have independent foreign policy strategies or their role ininternational relations is subordinated to the great powers. In this paper, on the example of theRepublic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Serbia, we will try to analyze and explainthe role of small states in current international relations, and in the context of the Ukrainianwar. Thus, we will provide a new contribution to the science of international relations onthe foreign policy role and foreign policy activities of small states in international relations, while, on a practical level, we will show that there are no unchangeable rules determiningforeign policy actions of small states, both in theory and practice. The positioning of NorthMacedonia, as a permanent member state of NATO and Serbia, as a military neutral country, but both politically committed to the European future, respectively membership in the EU,will serve as an example in this paper that will provide a scientific explanation that not alwayssmall countries make dependent foreign policy decisions, regardless of the fact of their foreignpolicy orientation

Description Logic with part restrictions: PSPACE-complete expressiveness

    Get PDF
In this paper syntactic objects-concept constructors, called part restrictions-are considered in Description Logics (DLs). Being able to convey statements about a part of a set of successors, part restrictions essentially enrich the expressive capabilities of DLs. An extension of DL ALCQR with part restrictions is examined, and its PSPACE completeness is proven, what shows that the new expressiveness brings no extra cost to the complexity of reasoning in ALCQR. The proof uses completion calculus based on tableaux technique.Presented at CiE2014 as contributed talk. This work was supported by the European Social Fund through the Human Resource Development Operational Programme under contract BG051PO001-3.3.06-0052 (2012/2014)
