Ruchazie Family Centre - Evaluation, Year 1 Report 2015-2016

In 2014 the Quarriers were funded by the Big Lottery Fund (BLF) to extend their work at the Ruchazie family centre to engage more widely with parents/carers and their children. The University of Stirling was commissioned in 2015 to evaluate the programme between 2015-2019. This report is based on our initial findings from our work in the first year of the evaluation programme

Conservative treatment of spinal tuberculosis and its outcome: an observational study

Background: Spinal tuberculosis or Pott’s spine occurs in about 1-2% of patients with tuberculosis and accounts for 40-50% of musculoskeletal tuberculosis.It is caused due to the infection of the bone by Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria with the combination of spread through haematogenous route as well as lymphatic drainage.Methods: This observational study was done for a period of 2 years from Jan 2016 to Jan 2018. The total number of study participants was 51. The functional outcome was assessed using modified McCormick’s scale.Results: Majority of study participants were females accounting for 60.7% compared to males (39.21%). The main complaint of study participants was back pain (39.21%) which was followed by fever in 21.5%. Loss of appetite was the most prominent symptom seen in 15.6%. Thoracolumbar vertebrae were the site of involvement in 37.2%.Conclusions: Patients responded well with anti-tubercular treatment in mild and moderate cases of spinal TB, if there was no gross neurological deficit. Thus it is very important to identify the early symptoms of spinal TB so that timely prompt treatment should be initiated

“Any d*** can make a baby, but it takes a real man to be a dad”: group work for fathers

This article contributes to debates about fathers in social work by examining a group work intervention for fathers in Scotland. We present findings from observations of the ‘dad’s group’ and interviews with seven fathers and staff members. Participating in the dad’s group was found to be an expanded perception and expression of masculinity and fatherhood. The group provided a platform for the men to define and challenge understandings of fatherhood in which they developed a sense of expertise and self-belief as individuals and as fathers. We provide examples of the way that the men manoeuvre against societal barriers, in the context of disadvantage, unemployment and persistent mental health difficulties and prevailing gendered stereotypes and allow the fluid expression of manhood through engaging with non-masculine activities. In consideration of policy and practice implications, we argue that parenting support such as group work for fathers are crucial to improve parenting skills and wellbeing and positive outcomes for children. Red bricks used as building walls/ Masonry in the city of Jambi in general has not been in accordance with the standards set.Research on the physical characteristics and suitability of the volume of work the Unit Price Analysis Work (AHSP 2013) has been done to the red brick produced in the village Pijoan and the village Setiti.Laboratory examination showed the red brick from the village Pijoan and village Setiti not meet the requirements in terms of compressive strength and dimensional standards used in AHSP 2013. The Large enough absorption of water implied that before using the red bricks must be soaked first so that the existing water in mortar is not reduced because of the red brick absorbed. Pengaruh Struktur Kepemilikan Manajerial dan Ukuran Perusahaan terhadap Profitabilitas melalui Moderating Struktur Modal pada Perusahaan Food And Beverages yang Terdaftar di Bei Periode 2010-2013

This study aims to determine the effect of Managerial Ownership Structure on profitability, the effect size of the Company to Profitability and through moderating capital structure of the two independent variables on profitability indirectly. The samples determined by purposive sampling method in order to obtain a sample of 15 food and beverage companies in the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The data were analyzed using Multiple Linier Regression , Classical Assumption Test and Test of Hypothesis. Partial test results can be concluded that the Managerial Ownership structure has an influence on profitability. It can be seen the value of 2,601 t and p value (sign) 0.012, 0.05, including after by moderating capital structure, H3 and H4 is rejected. And Capital Structure has an influence on the profitability of which 2,085 t and p value (sign) 0.042 < 0.05 so H5 accepted

Peranan Prokalsitonin pada Pneumonia Komunitas

Keterbatasan dalam mendiagnosis infeksi respirasi dari klinis, gejala penyakit dan pemeriksaan mikrobiologis, keberadaan biomarker dapat dijadikan informasi tambahan dalam meningkatkan diagnosis dan prognosis yang membantu dalam keputusan pemberian terapi. Penggunaan prokalsitonin dapat membantu diagnosis membedakan dari infeksi yang disebabkan oleh virus, menilai derajat risiko pasien dan keputusan pemberian, penghentian dan durasi antibiotik yang optimal. Pneumonia komunitas masih menjadi masalah kesehatan. Prokalsitonin pada akhir-akhir ini menjadi perhatian prognosis pada pneumonia komunitas. , baik yang diakibatkan oleh bakter iatau pun bukan. Prokalsitonin juga mempunyai kemampuan yang lebih baik dari pada C-reaktif protein sebagai biomarker petanda inflamasi dan mempunyai hubungan yang signifikan dengan skor sistem yang menilai klinis dan angka kematian
