This article examines the notions of laïcité that are promoted by Quebec’s main political parties. Through an analysis of the briefs submitted by political parties to the Bouchard-Taylor Commission, I propose a typology of their notions of laïcité. I examine the correspondences and divergences between these representations and the final proposals of the Bouchard-Taylor Commission

    L’oekoumène agricole au Lac-Saint-Jean

Two maps of the agricultural ecumene of the Lake Saint-Jean region are presented, the first showing the extent of cleared land as determined from air photos and the second indicating the present legal status of all surveyed parcels of land. The present land use is discussed in relation with the physical environment and the history of colonisation. In some areas the limits of the agricultural ecumene correspond to the contact between the alluvium-blanketed lowland and the surround-ing Precambrian upland ; in other areas the system of land allocation bas determined the limits of the ecumene, for the advance of colonisation was often brought to a halt by the establishment of for est reserves on Crown lands. The pioneer fringe municipalities of Saint-Ludger-de-Milot and Lac-Bouchette are located in such regions of arrested settlement. The writer concludes that throughout the Lake Saint-Jean area the lands presently under cultivation are bordered by territories unsuitable for farm settlement — consequently, it appears that the agricultural ecumene of the region bas attained its furthest extension

Several Characteristics of Mediation in Criminal Field in the Republic of Kosovo

Mediation is a type of alternative procedure that enables the resolution of a criminal case outside of court proceedings. This procedure has been regulated by a special law, and is applicable to various fields of law. The locus of this scientific paper shall exclusively be mediation in the criminal field. The Criminal Procedure Code of Kosovo, in addition to standard criminal proceedings, has outlined the “Alternative Procedures” of criminal case resolution including: Mediation; Provisional Suspension of Procedure; Conditions when criminal prosecution is not mandatory; Plea Agreement; Acquittal from Punishment; The announcement of defendant as “Cooperative Witness” as well as Diversion. Mediation as an alternative procedure in the criminal field is distinguished by several characteristics which make this procedure very efficient in comparison to standard criminal procedure. These include: the resolution of a criminal case without going to court; the possibility of improving a perpetrator’s behavior by applying non-criminal measures; reconciliation and peace-building between the parties; the economization of expenditures and time; and many other benefits. The modest results of this scientific paper indicate that mediation has several advantages which make it an efficient criminal case resolution mechanism. It is therefore encouraged to increase the level of its application in the criminal field, as it represents the most productive mechanism for resolving light criminal cases

Objectives:To (1) describe the implementation process for comprehensive medication reviews (CMRs) among community pharmacies (e.g., processes for prioritizing patients, staffing, and information collection) and (2) examine factors associated with community pharmacies\u2019 CMR information collection process. Methods:A survey was administered to the pharmacist responsible for implementation of CMRs (i.e., the lead pharmacist) in the community pharmacy (n = 87). The survey included questions about pharmacy characteristics, satisfaction with the NC community pharmacy enhanced services network (NC-CPESN) program, and implementation of CMRs. Frequencies and means were calculated to describe the sample characteristics and pharmacies\u2019 CMR implementation process. A multiple linear regression was conducted to examine which characteristics were associated with the CMR information collection process. Results:The majority of pharmacies in the sample were either independently owned single stores (46.5%) or multiple stores under the same independent ownership (41.6%). Most pharmacies used pharmacists (97.7%) or pharmacy technicians (65.5%) for patient outreach for CMRs. A small percentage of pharmacies used administrative staff to conduct patient outreach for CMRs (9.2%). Information for prescription medications (89.5%), indication (80%), and medication adherence (81.1%) was routinely collected. Information such as date of last dose for prescription medications (48.4%) and lifestyle factors, such as physical activity (21.1%), diet (29.5%), and alcohol (31.6%), was collected less routinely. Having a clinical pharmacist (P = 0.025) and pharmacist overlap hours (P = 0.009) significantly improved the CMR information collection process. Conclusion:Although CMRs are important interventions for improving patient outcomes, more guidance is needed on how to effectively implement them. This would allow the process to be efficient and assure implementation with fidelity across all community pharmacies. In addition, staffing appears to influence the quality of CMR information collection. Future research is warranted on CMR implementation to develop efficient staffing models and standardize the process of information collection.U01 CE002769/CE/NCIPC CDC HHS/United StatesUL1 TR001111/TR/NCATS NIH HHS/United States2021-05-17T00:00:00Z31405803PMC8128150972
