    The reasons for development of complications in soft contact lenses wearers: A qualitative study

    © 2020, Serbian Medical Society. All rights reserved. Objective. To determine reasons and their actual role in occurrence of complications in users of soft contact lenses. Methods. This was a qualitative study in which a constructivist grounded theory approach was used to analyze obtained data. The study population consisted of two groups of subjects: 10 students who were identified as users of soft contact lenses and 4 ophthalmologists. Each of the respondents participated ina single interview. Based on audio recordings of these interviews appropriate transcripts of conversations were made and analyzed. After elimination of waste words 11 key categories were crystallized. Results. Recommendations of the ophthalmologists perhaps have the decisive role in the formation of attitude that users will have regarding the adequate hygiene of soft contact lenses: hand hygiene, proper cleanliness of storage for soft contact lenses and using the solution in the allotted time are imperative for users of soft contact lenses. Sleeping with soft contact lenses for a long period and more frequently than it was specified in the recommendation of an ophthalmologist is one of the greatest reasons for development of dry eye symptoms, while swimming with soft contact lenses increases the risk for occurrence of eye infections. Conclusion. The main reasons for the occurrence of complications in soft contact lenses users are inadequate hygiene and weakening of compliance of soft contact lenses users over time

    Za potrebe definisanja novog koncepta prodajnog prostora UniCredit banke, realizovan je projekat enterijera ekspoziture UniCredit banke u Kragujevcu, koja značajnim izmenama u dizajnu ukazuje na pravac kojim će se u budućnosti razvijati ekspoziture ove banke. Nov koncept prostora poslovnice se oslanja na principe smart working-a, novog koncepta poslovanja koji omogućava fleksibilnost u svakodnevnim aktivnostima zaposlenih i posetilaca, a koje je UniCredit banka već primenila u svojim upravnim prostorijama. Oslanjajući se na analizu strategije korišćenja poslovnica u budućnosti, značajan deo prostorno funkcionalnog rešenja posvećen je zoni 24h, koja postaje prostranija, otvorenija i dostupnija korisnicima. Unutar druge zone, koja je pod striktnijim režimom rada, konceptom se odvaja neformalno okruženje za čekanje i brze poslove klijenata, od dela koji je namenjen radu sa operaterima. Vizuelni identitet prostora se gradi kroz odnos drveta, kao prirodnog materijala i upotrebe boje koja je karakteristična za prodajne prostore ovog tipa. Veća površina drveta u kombinaciji sa materijalima toplih nijansi crvene boje, čini da prostor svedenog dizajna izgleda toplo, što predstavlja značajan otklon od prethodnih rešenja ka udobnijem i pristupačnijem dizajnu. Poseban akcenat je dat konceptu osvetljenja, kojim se istovremeno ukazuje na putanje kretanja kroz prostorne celine, i naglašava dinamičan život prodajnog prostora poslovnice.photographer: Relja Ivani

    Anti-melanoma effects of ingenanes isolated from Euphorbia species

    Behaviour and design of bolted connectors with mechanical coupler: an overview

    The construction industry is one of the most important parts of economic development of society but it also has a very negative impact on the environment. Using the three concepts of circular economy: reuse, reduce and recycle, it is possible to decrease its negative impact. The steel-concrete composite structures and prefabricated structures enable, environmentally beneficial, circular life-cycle of buildings. For structural performance during the lifecycle, it is very important to have an adequate connection between the steel and reinforced concrete members. Different types of connectors have been widely used in composite structures. Demountable ones are advantageous in terms of reuse. In the last few years, the innovative demountable steel-concrete bolted connector with mechanical coupler has been proposed. There are two types of these bolted connectors depending on the type anchorage i.e., with the rebar anchor or with the second bolt. This paper gives an overview of previous research of bolted connectors with mechanical coupler capacity under static load. Influence of key parameters on the shear behaviour of the connector was observed: concrete compressive strength, connector dimensions and concrete edge distance. The shear and tension resistances of individual parts of the commercially available connectors were determined using recommendations of design codes and technical documentation. In case of the connector loaded in tension, it was concluded that the resistance is governed by the resistance of the rebar anchor. In case of the connector loaded in shear, design recommendations were also compared with the previous experimental tests. It was concluded that the shear resistance highly depends on the connection layout and concrete strength

    The role of a pharmacist in prevention and detection of OTC drug interactions: Nominal group technique

    Introduction: Nowadays number of newly approved OTC medicines continuously increases, which can make certain difficulties in drug dispensing process. This fact particularly relates to drug-drug interactions-problems due to lack of data and insufficient of knowledge about the interactions. Aim: To identify the problems pharmacists face when dispensing OTC drugs and to recommend concrete ideas and methods for improving system for detecting OTC drugs interactions. Participants and method: The study was carried out in accordance with methodological principles of nominal group technique. Two meetings of nominal group were conducted, enrolling pharmacists employed in public pharmacies. During the meetings, moderator imposed aset of questions to participants, who gave answers in the form of individual statements. In order to examine agreement of the participants about the individual statements, at the end of both sessions the statements were rated on a Likert's scale. Meetings were recorded and audio recordings later used for qualitative analysis. Results: Nine pharmacists of both sex (7/2 females/males) participated in this study. Average age of the participants was 25.0±1.0 years. During nominal group meetings, participants presented 30 statements on 7 research questions, and after the second meeting agreement was reached about 29 of them. Qualitative analysis of data indicated three categories of statements: (1) pharmacists' knowledge of OTC drugs interactions, (2) problems pharmacists face when dispensing OTC drugs and (3) options of improving system for prevention and detection of OTC drugs interactions. Conclusion: For adequate prevention of potential OTC drugs interactions it is necessary to make guidelines with recommendations referring to proper dispensing procedure and to use regularly available online interaction checkers

    Železnički mostovi na interoperabilnim prugama - aspekt interakcije kolosek/most

    The Institute for Standardization of Serbia has adopted a large number of en standards in the field of bridges as Serbian standards. Unfortunately, technical regulations based on the implementation of the adopted en standards in the field of bridges are still not made. The paper presents requirements for railway bridges based on en standards, UIC leaflets and German technical regulations. The aspect of track/bridge interaction is primarily considered. The parameters of track/bridge interaction, principles of calculation, as well as the overview of open points are presented. As the most important parameters of the bridge structure were considered: bridge expansion length, stiffness of the bridge substructure, as well as the bending stiffness and height of the bridge deck. Further, the effects of vertical load, temperature changes, and acceleration/breaking of the vehicle on the mentioned interaction are especially analysed. In addition, the conclusions of the paper apply to both ballasted track and slab track. The aim of the paper is to create a basis for the harmonisation of technical regulations in Serbia with European regulations in order to meet the requirements of interoperability.Institut za standardizaciju Srbije usvojio je EN standarde u oblasti mostova kao srpske standarde. Nažalost, još uvek nije urađena tehnička regulativa zasnovana na primeni usvojenih EN standarda u oblasti mostova. U radu se prikazuju zahtevi za železničke mostove koji su zasnovani na EN standardima, UIC objavama i na nemačkoj tehničkoj regulativi. Primarno se obrađuje aspekt interakcije kolosek/most. Predstavljeni su parametri interakcije kolosek/most, principi proračuna, kao i pregled otvorenih pitanja. Kao najznačajniji parametri konstrukcije mosta razmatrani su: dužine dilatiranja mosta, krutost konstrukcije donjeg stroja mosta, kao i krutost na savijanje i visina konstrukcije gornjeg stroja mosta. Pored toga, posebno su analizirani uticaji vertikalnog opterećenja, temperaturnih promena, kao i ubrzavanja/kočenja vozila na pomenutu interakciju. Zaključci rada se odnose i na kolosek u zastoru od tucanika i na kolosek na čvrstoj podlozi. Cilj rada je stvaranje osnove za harmonizaciju tehničke regulative u Srbiji sa evropskom regulativom kako bi se ispunili zahtevi interoperabilnosti

    Lekoviti preparati u terapiji kardiovaskularnih oboljenja - savremeni farmaceutsko-tehnološki aspekt

    Contemporary trends in dosage form development for cardiovascular therapeutics are orientated towards the rationalization and individualization of drug administration with the achievement of good compliance. Therefore, the controlled release dosage forms occupy an important place in the therapy of cardiovascular diseases. In this paper, the survey of commercially available modified release preparations in our country is given, as well as the most commonly employed technologies for development of controlled release dosage forms. Another aspect that is often used in order to attain the flexibility of dosing is divisibility of the scored tablets. The main reasons for tablet divisibility as well as the potential problems and disadvantages are discussed with regards to the literature data and experimental results obtained in a separate study.Savremeni farmaceutsko-tehnološki pristup oblikovanju preparata u terapiji kardiovaskularnih oboljenja vezan je, pre svega, za individualizaciju i racionalizaciju terapije uz obezbeđenje dobre prihvatljivosti od strane pacijenta. U tom smislu, veliki značaj se pridaje razvoju formulacija i primeni peroralnih preparata sa kontrolisanim oslobađanjem aktivne komponente. U radu je dat prikaz najčešće zastupljenih tehnoloških rešenja u formulaciji savremenih, komercijalno dostupnih preparata sa kontrolisanim oslobađanjem, kao i pregled preparata ovog tipa registrovanih u našoj zemlji. Dodatni aspekt koji je često zastupljen u terapiji kardiovaskularnih oboljenja je i obezbeđenje fleksibilnosti doziranja koje se postiže deljenjem komercijalnio dostupnih tableta. Razlozi za deljenje tableta, kao i problemi i poteškoće koje pri tome mogu nastati prodiskutovani su u skladu sa navodima iz literature, kao i rezultatima sopstvenih istraživanja
