Life insurance companies as institutional investors are key participants in the global financial market. By collecting the savings of the insured, accumulating large amounts of funds and their long-term investment into various financial instruments, these companies affect the development and stability of the financial market. Considering their significance, the aim of this paper is to determine the determinants of life insurance demand by analysing the environment in which these companies operate on the European financial markets, in order to detect the possibilities for increasing the sale of life insurance policies, and thus the amount of collected amount that will be invested in the financial market for a long term. Based on the research results, determinants that may encourage the life insurance demand in European countries are determined and the recommendations on how to manage the sale of life insurance policies, with the aim of increasing the amount of collected funds

This doctoral dissertation confirmes possibilities of application of mathematical methods in the contemporary approach of decision making in development projects of cluster organizations in Serbia, as well as introduction of software application „MS Project” which ensure more effective and more efficient project management of cluster organization development, assessment of all project resources engaged and optimal forecast on the completion of the project implementation. Regarding the fact that this issue has not been sufficiently elaborated in Serbia, the main goal of the research was to clarify the role and significance of the mathematical methods, as well as to elaborate the theoretical models of multi-criteria analysis that can be successfully implemented in practice with the aim of identifying and solving problems in the development of cluster organizations in Serbia. The mode and level of topic elaboration is in compliance with the goal of theoretical and hypothetical research framework. Beside theoretical aspect the doctoral dissertation presents the application of the following methods of multi-criteria decision making: „ELECTRE” and „AHP”, as well as the software application „MS Project” on data of cluster organization „Cluster House” in Nis

The Deliblato Sands Special Nature Reserve (SNR) is located in the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina (Northern Serbia). The favorable position implies the proximity to large cities with which it has good traffic connections. Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Croatia, and other countries from the region represent a dispersive zone. The topic of this paper is the function that the SNR has in sustainable tourism development. The objective of this work is the analytical research of the available written data, as well as those obtained after the conducted survey. The basis of the research is to find out how and to what extent the SNR contributes to sustainable tourism development. The research was carried out by measuring the value of sustainable tourism indicators, and examining the attitudes of residents, visitors, and students about the current state of sustainable tourism and the importance of the SNR for future tourism development. Respondents were selected using a random sample method. The authors used qualitative and quantitative methodologies in the paper. This research examined the SNR sustainable development by measuring sustainability indicators and surveying 1884 respondents (714 residents, 620 visitors, and 550 students) about sustainable tourism in the SNR. The obtained data were analyzed and presented with the help of SPSS v. 21 software. The research results can be used to create national and international strategies for sustainable tourism development

    On the Simplex Algorithm Initializing

This paper discusses the importance of starting point in the simplex algorithm. Three different methods for finding a basic feasible solution are compared throughout performed numerical test examples. We show that our two methods on the Netlib test problems have better performances than the classical algorithm for finding initial solution. The comparison of the introduced optimization softwares is based on the number of iterative steps and on the required CPU time. It is pointed out that on average it takes more iterations to determine the starting point than the number of iterations required by the simplex algorithm to find the optimal solution

Influence of diet on proximate composition and fatty acid profile in common carp (Cyprinus carpio)

The most marketed species of fish in Serbia is common carp (Cyprinus carpio), which accounts for more than 80% of the national aquaculture. This study aimed to investigate the influence of two supplementary fish feeds (maize and extruded feed) on the proximate and fatty acid composition of carp. The results show that the protein, lipid, and ash contents were higher (P lt = 0.001) in the extruded feed compared with maize. The carp fed extruded feed exhibited significantly higher protein and moisture contents (P lt = 0.001 and P lt = 0.01, respectively), whereas the total lipid content was significantly higher (P lt = 0.001) in carp fed maize. The analysis of the fatty acid profiles showed that the saturated fatty acid (SFA) content in carp fed maize (23.94%) was lower than that in carp fed extruded feed (25.36%). The monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA) content in carp fed maize (61.83%) was considerably higher compared with carp fed extruded feed (41.95%), whereas the polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) content in carp fed maize (13.66%) was lower than that in carp fed extruded feed (30.91%). The principal component analysis (PCA) of the fatty acid profile resulted in a two-principal-component model that described 75.94% of the total data variance. The most influential factors were determined from the loading plot governing this distinction. The n-6/n-3 ratio in carp fed extruded feed (5.8) was found to be more nutritionally beneficial than that in carp fed maize (13.8), which indicates the better nutritional properties of carp fed extruded feed
