    Kaon Physics

    The most recent progress and future prospects in kaon physics are reviewed. Main results are the first observation of the rare decays KS->pi0ee and KS->pi0mumu by NA48, new K+->pinunu event observed by E949 and new precision measurements of K0->pienu decays by KTeV, KLOE and NA48 made in an effort to resolve the slight deviation from the unitarity in the CKM matrix, involving the |Vus| coupling.Comment: Invited talk at the XXIV Physics in Collisions Conference (PIC04), Boston, USA, June 2004, 19 pages, LaTeX, 3 eps figures.     Tato práce se zaměřuje na polymerová optická vlákna (POF). Jsou v ní popsány základní vlastnosti polymerových optických vláken, materiály pro výrobu a metody výrobních procesů. V dalších kapitolách jsou uvedena jednotlivá vlákna, která se liší rozdílnými indexy lomu a průměrem vlákna. Také jsou rozebrány konektory používané pro spojování. Jako velmi vhodné pro domácí instalaci se hodí řešení bez konektorů Optolock. Dále jsou uvedeny oblasti, kde je možné použít POF. Prosadit se může v automobilovém průmyslu, domácích sítích nebo jako senzor. Praktická část obsahuje návrh měřícího polygonu a návrh FTTH s využitím POF pro rozvod v domě, kde je zvolena topologie P2P. Je také zpracován návrh rozvodu POF v bytě. Pro instalaci v bytě jsou cenově porovnány prvky sítě mezi rozvody POF a UTP cat.6 kabeláží. Z tohoto porovnání vychází mnohonásobně levněji verze s UTP kabeláží. Závěrečná kapitola zhodnocuje náročnost práce s POF. Popisuje přípravu vlákna před komunikací a vytvoření malé experimentální sítě. Celkové poznatky jsou shrnuty v závěru.This work focuses on polymer optical fiber (POF). It describes basic properties of polymer optical fibers, materials for production and methods of manufacturing processes. In following chapters are given individual fibers that vary different refractive indexes and diameter of fiber. Also there are analyse connectors which are used for joining. As very suitable solution for home installation seems to be using the system Optolock without connectors. In the work is also written several areas where it is possible to use the POF. It can break through in automotive industry, home networks or as a sensor. The practical part contains measuring polygon draft and FTTH proposal using POF for distribution system in the house, where P2P topology is choosen. It´s also made a proposal for distribution of POF in the apartment. For installation in the apartment prices of network components are compared between POF distribution and UTP cat.6 cabling. UTP cat.6 is in this comparison many times more cheaply. Final chapter evaluate demands on work with POF fibers. Describes preparation of fiber before communication and creation of small experimental network. Important findings of the work are summarized in the conclusion.

    Tests and final integration of the ATLAS semiconductor tracker

    The Silicon Tracker (SCT) is part of the Inner Detector at the ATLAS experiment at CERN. Its basic building blocks are 5 different types of silicon strip modules. In total more than 15000 p-on-n single-sided silicon strip sensors of an area of about 61 m2 were used to produce 4088 SCT modules. An overall module production yield of 92% could be achieved, where the silicon modules comply with the tight electrical, thermal and mechanical specifications. The macro-assembly of 2112 barrel modules to the four barrel support cylinders was successfully carried out. The nine disks of one endcap are fully populated with 988 modules, and for the second endcap more than 50% of the modules are already mounted. Test results operating complete barrels will be presented as well as a description of the test setup. The different integration steps of the SCT with the surrounding Transition Radiation Tracker (TRT) will be explained. The installation of SCT and TRT into the ATLAS pit will happen during 2006

    Transverse Emittance Measurement with the Three-Monitor-Method at the CERN Linac4

    This report evaluates the applicability of the Three-Monitor-Method to determine the transverse emittance of the CERN Linac4 160 MeV H- -beam. The Three-Monitor-Method is a linear formalism allowing to calculate transverse emittance values from beam size measurements at three different positions along a beam line, assuming that the transfer matrix elements between these locations are known. It is planned to build two of these measurement systems, which should operate from 2013/14 immediately behind the exit of the linear accelerator in the dump line and close to the end of the transfer line to the PS Booster synchrotron in the LBE line. At first, the mathematical formalism and the simulation tools are briefly introduced. Then, the method is applied for both measurement lines. Results on measurement precisions and systematic errors are presented. Final conclusions are drawn at the end, and a summary of the equipment to be installed or modified will be given

    PS Booster Orbit Correction

    At the end of the 2007 run, orbit measurements were carried out in the 4 rings of the PS Booster (PSB) for different working points and beam energies. The aim of these measurements was to provide the necessary input data for a PSB realignment campaign during the 2007/2008 shutdown. Currently, only very few corrector magnets can be operated reliably in the PSB; therefore the orbit correction has to be achieved by displacing (horizontally and vertically) and/or tilting some of the defocusing quadrupoles (QDs). In this report we first describe the orbit measurements, followed by a detailed explanation of the orbit correction strategy. Results and conclusions are presented in the last section

    Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou filtrace piva malých a středních pivovarů. V první části je zaměřena na teorii vaření piva, jejíž znalost je nezbytná k návrhu zařízení. V druhé části jsou shrnuty technologie filtrace a zařízení využívaných v pivovarech. Poslední část práce je zaměřena na návrh konkrétního filtračního zařízení.The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the technology of beer filtration in small and medium size breweries. The first part concentrates on general principles of brewing beer as the knowledge of brewing procedure is necessary for projecting the filtration scheme. The second part summarizes filtration technologies and targets on particular device commonly used in breweries. The final section of this thesis brings a scheme of a filtration device

    Projektiranje konstrukcije glavnog rebra tankera s dvobokom prema hamoniziranim IACS CSR Pravilima

    Kroz ovaj rad provedena je analiza utjecaja dvaju projektnih parametara (razmak uzdužnjaka i razmak okvira) na masu konstrukcije tankera s dvobokom s ciljem dobivanja optimalnog razmještaja uzdužno nosivih elemenata konstrukcije. Na temelju referentnog modela, izrađeno je dodatnih 16 varijanti pri čemu su korištene različite kombinacije razmaka okvira i razmaka uzdužnih elemenata. Kako bi se osigurala relevantnost usporedbe različitih varijanti, nužno je bilo dimenzionirati konstrukcijske elemente tako da svi kriteriji čvrstoće budu zadovoljeni. Dimenzioniranje elemenata konstrukcije provedeno je pomoću programa MARS klasifikacijskog društva BV, prema usuglašenim IACS Pravilima (H-CSR BC&OT) koja su stupila na snagu 01. srpnja 2015. godine. Dobiveni rezultati uspoređeni su s obzirom na postignutu masu konstrukcije, moment otpora i moment tromosti glavnog rebra te postignuti granični moment savijanja, na temelju čega su predloženi optimalni parametri konstrukcije.     Multiple transcoding impact on speech quality in ideal network conditions

    This paper deals with the impact of transcoding on the speech quality. We have focused mainly on the transcoding between codecs without the negative influence of the network parameters such as packet loss and delay. It has ensured objective and repeatable results from our measurement. The measurement was performed on the Transcoding Measuring System developed especially for this purpose. The system is based on the open source projects and is useful as a design tool for VoIP system administrators. The paper compares the most used codecs from the transcoding perspective. The multiple transcoding between G711, GSM and G729 codecs were performed and the speech quality of these calls was evaluated. The speech quality was measured by Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality method, which provides results in Mean Opinion Score used to describe the speech quality on a scale from 1 to 5. The obtained results indicate periodical speech quality degradation on every transcoding between two codecs
