    Stability of Intercelular Exchange of Biochemical Substances Affected by Variability of Environmental Parameters

    Communication between cells is realized by exchange of biochemical substances. Due to internal organization of living systems and variability of external parameters, the exchange is heavily influenced by perturbations of various parameters at almost all stages of the process. Since communication is one of essential processes for functioning of living systems it is of interest to investigate conditions for its stability. Using previously developed simplified model of bacterial communication in a form of coupled difference logistic equations we investigate stability of exchange of signaling molecules under variability of internal and external parameters.Comment: 11 pages, 3 figure

    Comment on `Experimental and Theoretical Constraints of Bipolaronic Superconductivity in High TcT_{c} Materials: An Impossibility'

    We show that objections raised by Chakraverty etet alal (Phys. Rev. Lett. 81, 433 (1998)) to the bipolaron model of superconducting cuprates are the result of an incorrect approximation for the bipolaron energy spectrum and misuse of the bipolaron theory. The consideration, which takes into account the multiband energy structure of bipolarons and the unscreened electron-phonon interaction clearly indicates that cuprates are in the Bose-Einstein condensation regime with mobile charged bosons.Comment: 1 page, no figure

    Template Synthesis of MoN Superconducting Nanowires

    We have demonstrated a new facile method for the controllable synthesis of high quality single-phase MoN nanowires with Tc 10.5 K from Mo6S2I8 nanowires templates. The MoN nanowire diameters were controlled exclusively by the Mo6S2I8 nanowires template diameters, which were in the range between several tens and several hundreds of nanometers in this study. Furthermore, we have demonstrated that Ohmic contacts can be prepared on δ3-MoN nanowires with ion beam induced platinum deposition using an FIB, allowing detailed characterization of the superconducting and transport properties of MoN nanowires. In addition, we have demonstrated straightforward synthesis of porous δ3-MoN nanowires and nanotubes from MoS2 nanotubes. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy with wave dispersive analysis, transmission electron microscopy, four probe electrical transport measurements and SQUID were used to characterize the starting nanowires and nanotubes and the final products

    Processes at the inetrface molten metal-sand mold

    The processes that take place at the liquid metal-sand mold interface during the casting and crystallization of metal were studied in this paper. The mold was made using the CO2 – method, with the addition of active components, such as: MgO, TiO2, AlK(SO4)2 and Na2SO4. At the liquid steel pouring temperature, these active components undergo decomposition in the mold, caused by heat release during pouring, crystallization and cooling of castings. Silicates, which have an important influence on casting surface quality, are formed as a result of the interaction between the mould material and liquid steel

    The relationships between electromagnetic frequency, microstructure and mechanical properties of continuous casting aluminum alloys were studied in this paper. EN AW 2024 and EN AW 2007 aluminum alloys ingots were produced by electromagnetic continuous casting process. The microstructure and mechanical properties of as cast ingots were examined. The results showed that electromagnetic field, especially low frequency electromagnetic field, greatly influenced the microstructure and mechanical properties of as cast ingots. The significant energy savings and product quality can be achieved by the application of a proper frequency.U radu je prikazan utjecaj frekvencije na mikrostrukturu i mehanička svojstva Al legura dobijenih kontinuiranim elektromagnetnim postupkom ljevanja. Ispitivanja su obavljena sa dvije legure EN AW 2024 i EN AW 2007. Mikrostrukturna i mehanička karakterizacija urađena je na uzorcima u ljevanom stanju. Rezultati istraživanja pokazuju da elektromagnetno polje, posebno polje niže frekvencije, utječe na mikrostrukturu i mehanička svojstva ljevanih ingota. Na osnovu dobijenih rezultata može se zaključiti da se primjenom elektromagnetnog polja odgovarajuće frekvencije može postići značajna ušteda energije kao i poboljšanje kvaliteta dobijenih ingota

    MEDICINAL PROPERTIES OF BUCKWHEAT PRODUCTS AND HONEY IN COMPLIANCE WITH FOOD SAFETY REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS

    Buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum Moench) is a gluten-free pseudo-cereal and honey plant. Buckwheat grain yields vary greatly and depend on the genotype, agro-ecological conditions of production and harvesting method. The grain yield of the 'Novosadska' variety variеs 1.5-3 t ha-1and the honey yield amounts and more than 300 kg ha-1. Buckwheat grain contains: carbohydrates, proteins, fats, organic acids and rutin (quercetin-3-rutinosid), minerals (potassium, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, sodium, iodine, zinc, bromine and iron), vitamins (D2-ergokalciferol, D3-holekalciferol, P-bioflavonoids, vitamins group B: B1-Thiamine, B2-Riboflavin, B3-niacin, B4-Choline, B5-Pantothenic acid, B6-Piridoxin, B9-Folate; and vitamin E-Tocopherols. 'Novosadska' buckwheat contains the highest level of phenolic acids, proanthocyanidins, flavones and flavonols. Buckwheat honey is dark color, which it gets from polyphenols. Polyphenols is antioxidants, organic compounds which affect the quality of food, especially the color and taste. In accordance with the law on food safety, the interests of consumers must be ensured the highest level of protection. Phenolic antioxidants from honey are bioavailable and increase the antioxidant activity of plasma. Buckwheat honey has a beneficial effect on bronchitis and cough, hypertension, arteriosclerosis, of heart disease, liver and intestinal diseases and has antibacterial effects

    Algae as a source of bioactive compounds to prevent the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus

    Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a complicated metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia and glucose intolerance. It is considered a new pandemic and its control involves numerous challenges. Although many of the measures are based on improving life habits, diet is also of vital importance due to bioactive compounds present in food. In this regard, several raw materials have been investigated whose bioactivities seem to slow the progression of this disease. Within these matrices, there are algae of importance, such as brown algae, showing to have beneficial effects on glycemic control.
