Stability analysis of a hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis model with inclusion of glucocorticoid receptor and memory

This paper analyzes a four-dimensional model of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis that includes the influence of the glucocorticoid receptor in the pituitary. Due to the spatial separation between the hypothalamus, pituitary and adrenal glands, distributed time delays are introduced in the mathematical model. The existence of the positive equilibrium point is proved and a local stability and bifurcation analysis is provided, considering several types of delay kernels. The fractional-order model with discrete time delays is also taken into account. Numerical simulations are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical findings.Comment: 9 page

The Civil Service Reform in the Context of Sustainable Development. A Comparison Between Romania and Italy

    Get PDF
In the last decade the public administration system from most of the EU countries suffered many transformations in order to achieve the objectives proposed by the European Union, such as sustainable development. The civil service represented and still is a very important key factor for a success reformation of the administrative system, because it represents the main resource of the system. The analysis underlines the introduction of the public manager in the Romanian civil service hierarchy and the introduction of the concept dirigenza pubblica, a type of public management, in the Italian public administration. Moreover, we will present the introduction of the dirigente pubblico, public manager, in the Italian civil service system. &nbsp

AbstractNowadays, the partnership between the economic academic institutions and the business environment is a core key performance indicator (KPI) for assessing the efficiency and accountability. Still, in many cases and for different reasons this partnership does not work well. As various international studies emphasized there is a certain gap between the competences and the skills acquired by the students and the requirements of the employers regarding the educational background of the graduates. Thus, the purpose of this study is to determine the perception of employers from the Arges County regarding the competences and the skill acquired by the economic students and to identify directions of improvement in teaching and practical training method from this perspective. In order to fulfill the purpose of the study, empirical data were collected in a survey that was conducted in the Arges County in the context of a project financed from European funds. The empirical findings emphasize the existence of a certain gap between the two parties – employers and university, regarding the competences and skills that should be developed in order to increase graduates’ competitiveness and effectiveness

Analytical models for temperature prediction on welding

Temperature field has an important influence on the phase changes and, finally, on the microstructure and mechanical properties, residual stresses and strains development in the welded joints. During the welding, temperature field shape and its profile depend on many factors but, assuming some assumptions regarding homogeneity and materials isotropy, the mathematical relations for different practical cases can be obtained. Besides, welded bodies can be infinite or semi-infinite as the plates, bars and massive bodies are considered. The instantaneous or permanent thermal sources, fixed or mobile have an important influence on the temperatures distribution. Therefore, the paper presents some analytical solutions for the temperatures prediction in the welded joints in case of the mobile sources with 2D and 3D Gauss distribution

impact Assessment has been introduced in the late 1990s in OECD countries, followed by CEE countries in early 2000. With the OECD ministerial declaration on regulatory quality in 1995, the OECD provided the first international standards in this policy area, endorsed at the highest possible level by its Member States. The European Union has also emerged as an important IA standards provider and the European Commission is extremely active in asking individual member states to make progress with the introduction of IA, regulatory quality indicators and other policy and regulatory management initiatives. The purpose of this study is to analyse if through the introduction of the RIA in Romania the Government could monitor the impact in terms of effective legislation in the context by the economic crisis started at the end the year 2008. This research study attempts to provide an answer to a number of main research questions: 1. How is understood and what is the current situation of the RIA system in Romania? 2. Which are the variables and determinants of RIA in financial and economic crisis? 3. How the normative acts are emphasizing the economic and social impact

Reconstruction of heel soft tissue defects using sensate medial plantar flap

Introduction. Reconstruction of heel soft tissue defects represents a true challenge for any surgeon due to the particularities of this anatomical region. The tissue used to reconstruct the heel area must be resistant, innervated, and adapted to take over the body weight. Innervated medial plantar fasciocutaneous flap is one of the best solutions to cover defects at the heel level. Materials and Methods. We studied 5 patients, 4 males and one female, aged 42 to 67 years, who presented heel soft tissue defects of various etiologies. In all cases, the used reconstructive method was an insular innervated medial plantar fasciocutaneous flap. Results. Immediate and late outcomes were good. No immediate complications of necrosis type were recorded in any of the cases, and 2 years postoperatively there was no evidence of ulceration or other type of flap injury. The socio-professional reintegration of the patients was relatively rapid and their satisfaction was high. Donor area morbidity was minimal. Conclusions. Sensate medial plantar fasciocutaneous flap represents the first choice for the reconstruction of the heel soft tissue defects when patients’ local and general status allows it
