Renewable energy sources and power-to-gas aided cogeneration for non-residential buildings

One promising technology to manage and store renewable electricity from wind or solar sources is Power to Gas (PtG). PtG combines H2 from electrolysis –run by renewable electricity– with CO2 to produce synthetic CH4. A suitable option to get the required CO2 streams is the integration with carbon capture technologies, in particular with oxy-fuel combustion. The application proposed in this study is a cogeneration system that combines PtG, oxyfuel boiler, wind energy and photovoltaic solar production to be applied in buildings. This paper describes the concept and analyses the influence of equipment dimensions varying the relative size and the proportion of the solar-wind installed power for two locations representative of North and South European countries. Results: Show that higher solar and wind powers are required in the Northern region to satisfy coverage of thermal demand. It results in longer time displacement of energy storage towards cold months. Accordingly to the generation patterns of wind and solar energies, higher solar proportion results in longer energy storage periods. Therefore, solar resource is more suitable than wind power to exploit the potential of PtG technology, although the size of the overall systems increases

Análisis praxiológico de varios deportes alternativos colectivos y propuesta de enseñanza en la Educación Secundaria Obligatoria

Los deportes alternativos se han convertido en un contenido muy valioso para la asignatura de Educación Física y ayudar a conseguir una formación integral del alumno. A través de su análisis praxiológico se pueden establecer características en común a partir de las cuales desarrollar una situación de enseñanza-aprendizaje que permita su tratamiento dentro del currículo de Educación Física en Educación Secundaria Obligatoria. El objetivo de este trabajo es elaborar una serie de pautas comunes para varios deportes alternativos estableciendo los roles, subroles y reglas de acción de cada uno de ellos para plantear una propuesta de enseñanza que consiga que el alumno comprenda la lógica interna de estos deportes mediante un proceso en el que se incluyen todos los procesos estructurales presentes en cada actividad.Palabras clave: praxiología motriz, Educación Física, deportes alternativos, lógica interna<br /

Numerical integration of a hierarchically size-structured population model with contest competition

Numerical integration of an age-structured population model with infinite life span

Producción CientíficaThe choice of age as a physiological parameter to structure a population and to describe its dynamics involves the election of the life-span. The analysis of an unbounded life-span age-structured population model is motivated because, not only new models continue to appear in this framework, but also it is required by the study of the asymptotic behaviour of its dynamics. The numerical integration of the corresponding model is usually performed in bounded domains through the truncation of the age life-span. Here, we propose a new numerical method that avoids the truncation of the unbounded age domain. It is completely analyzed and second order of convergence is established. Numerical analysis of a cell dwarfism model

It consists in a pure initial value problem for a first order partial differential equation, that can be applied to the description of the evolution of diseases as thalassemia. We design two numerical methods that prevent the use of the characteristic curve x = 0, and derive their optimal rates of convergence. Numerical experiments are also reported in order to demonstrate the predicted accuracy of the schemes. A numerical study on the estimation of the stable size distribution for a cell population balance model

In this paper,we analyse, froma numerical point of view, the approach to the stable size distribution for a size-structured balance model with an asymmetric division rate. Compact fibre Bragg grating-based thermometer for on-line temperature monitoring of drill bits

In this communication, a novel compact fibre Bragg grating-based thermometer for on-line temperature monitoring of drill bits is reported. Our proposed technique can potentially be used to optimize any drilling process, requiring the use of small drill bits, through direct temperature measurement at the drill bit instead of relying on indirect parameters (speed of rotation, applied force) in order to avoid an overheating as it is currently done nowadays

Thuya occidentalis 12 ch como variante de tratamiento de la carúncula uretral en Pinar del Río. Enero 2000 - diciembre 2005. Thuja occidentalis 12ch as an option of treatment in urethral caruncule in Pinar del Rio- January 2000-December 2005

La Carúncula uretral es una enfermedad femenina. Hasta el momento actual, la indicación eficaz de tratamiento es el proceder quirúrgico o largos períodos de tratamientos estrogénicos. Se realizó estudio prospectivo, descriptivo analítico longitudinal, desde enero del  año 2000 hasta diciembre del 2005, a un grupo de 46 pacientes, en el HCQ "León Cuervo Rubio" de Pinar del Río, con el objetivo de validar la aplicación de un medicamento homeopático, Thuya Occidentalis  12 CH, que entre otras indicaciones según patogenesia, tiene la de actuar sobre formaciones polipoideas o estructuras semejantes a la Carúncula uretral. Fue utilizada la estadística descriptiva y como método estadístico la media porcentual para el análisis de los resultados. Se encontró en el grupo coincidencia con la literatura en cuanto a edad y síntomas de presentación. Se magnifica el resultado de desaparición de la lesión antes de las tres semanas en el 92,8% de las pacientes  El 85,7% de las pacientes sobrepasa el año de evolución sin aparición de recidivas del tumor y sus síntomas acompañantes. Se convierte en un tratamiento eficiente, no invasivo, aporta un método de diagnóstico diferencial con otras entidades. Palabras clave: Thuya occidentalis / Carúncula uretral / eficiencia. ABSTRACT Urethral Caruncle is a female disease. Even in current times the most effective treatments are surgical approach or long-term periods of estrogen. A prospective, descriptive, analytic-longitudinal study from January 2000 to December 2005 was carried out in a group of 46 patients at "León Cuervo Rubio" Hospital in Pinar del Río, aimed at validating the use of the homeopathic drug Thuya occidentalis 12 CH, that among other indications and according to the pathogeny, acts on polypoid formations or structures similar to urethral caruncle. Descriptive statistics was used, and percentage mean was taken as a statistic method to analyze the results; coinciding age and symptoms of presentation with medical literature. The result of the disappearence of the lesion was significant before three weeks in 92,8% of the cases, 85,9% of them surpass one year without relapses of the tumor or its symptoms. Becoming an efficient, non-invasive treatment and provinding a method of differential diagnosis with other entities. Key words: THUYA OCCIDENTALIS, URETHRAL CARUNCLE, EFFICIENCY
