The first record of Parmotrema pseudocrinitum (Parmeliaceae, lichenized Ascomycota) in South America

Parmotrema pseudocrinitum is reported for the first time in South America, from northern Argentina. A description of this species and comparisons with related species are presented. Se presentan nuevos registros de microlíquenes para el norte de Argentina. Se incluyen comentarios de los siguientes taxones: Coniocarpon cinnabarinum (Arthoniaceae); Schistophoron tenue (Graphidaceae); Reimnitzia santensis (Thelotremataceae); Phyllopeltula steppae (Peltulaceae); Dichosporidium nigrocinctum, Enterographa pallidella y Syncesia effusa (Roccellaceae) y Tylophoron crassiusculum (Caliciales, incertae sedis).New records from Northern Argentina are here presented. Crocodia Link. (Peltigeraceae, Lobarioideae) in northern Argentinean rainforests

A revision of the lichen genus Crocodia Link. in northern Argentinean rainforests is presented. Three species were identified for the region: C. arvidssonii (D.J. Galloway) D.J. Galloway & Elix, C. aurata (Ach.) Link., and C. clathrata (De Not.) Trevis. The distribution range known for these species is extended: C. arvidssonii is recorded for the first time for the country; C. aurata for Corrientes, Misiones, and Salta provinces; and C. clathrata for Corrientes and Jujuy provinces. The morphology of each species is described and illustrated. A distribution map and a key to known species of the genus are also presented

Crocodia Link. (Peltigeraceae, Lobarioideae) in northern Argentinean rainforests

A revision of the lichen genus Crocodia Link. in northern Argentinean rainforests is presented. Three species were identified for the region: C. arvidssonii (D.J. Galloway) D.J. Galloway & Elix, C. aurata (Ach.) Link., and C. clathrata (De Not.) Trevis. New species and additional records of Coenogonium (Ostropales : Coenogoniaceae) from southern South America

Four new species of lichenized fungi from northern Argentina are described and illustrated: Coenogonium albomarginatum Michlig & L. I. Ferraro, C. brasiliense L. I. Ferraro & Michlig, C. flavovirens L. I. Ferraro & Michlig, and C. verrucosum Michlig & L. I. Ferraro. In addition, C. isidiatum (G. Thor & Vezda) Lücking et al., C. magdalenae Rivas Plata, Lücking & Lizano, C. persistens (Malme) Lücking et al., C. pusillum (Mont.) Lücking et al., and C. weberi (Vezda) Lücking et al. are recorded for the first time from South America. The known distribution of 24 species of this lichen genus is extended. Diversidad de macrolíquenes del Parque Nacional Mburucuyá (Corrientes, Argentina)

Se presenta un estudio de los macrolíquenes presentes en el Parque Nacional Mburucuyá (Corrientes, Argentina). Se identificaron cuarenta y nueve especies pertenecientes a quince géneros. Se registran por primera vez para la Argentina Physcia krogiae Moberg, Bulbothrix regnelliana Jungbluth, Marcelli & Elix y Bulbothrix viatica Spielmann & Marcelli, y se amplía el área de distribución de diez especies. Se actualiza la distribución geográfica dentro del país de las especies estudiadas y se incluyen claves para la identificación de los géneros y especies.Macrolichen diversity in Mburucuyá National Park (Corrientes, Argentina). A study of the macrolichens from Mburucuyá National Park (Corrientes, Argentina) is presented. Forty nine species belonging to fifteen genera were identified. Physcia krogiae Moberg, Bulbothrix regnelliana Jungbluth, Marcelli & Elix, and Bulbothrix viatica Spielmann & Marcelli are recorded for the first time in Argentina and the distribution area of ten species is extended. Macrolichens from Chaco National Park (Chaco Province, Argentina)

Se realizó un estudio sobre la diversidad de macrolíquenes presentes en el Parque Nacional Chaco. Fueron identificadas 36 especies, de las cuales tres se registran por primera vez para Argentina (Dirinaria melanocarpa, Pyxine petricola var. convexula y P. pungens). Por otra parte, se amplía la distribución de 27 especies en el país, incluyendo nuevos registros para la provincia de Chaco y, adicionalmente, para otras provincias de la región. Se proporciona una clave para la identificación de especies y se actualizó la distribución geográfica actual en Argentina de cada una de ellas.A study of the macrolichens diversity from Chaco National Park was conducted. Thirty-six species were identified, three of which are recorded for the first time from Argentina (Dirinaria melanocapa, Pyxine petricola var. convexula, and P. pungens). Moreover, the distribution of 27 species in the country is extended, including new records for Chaco province and, additionally, for other provinces of the region. New record and distribution map of Parmotrema rubifaciens (Parmeliaceae, Ascomycota) in the Neotropics

Parmotrema rubifaciens is recorded in this paper for the first time for Paraguay, expanding its known geographic distribution approximately 430 km southeast from its nearest locality. First record of Macrocybe titans (Tricholomataceae, Basidiomycota) in Argentina

Macrocybe titans is characterized by its basidiomata with a remarkable size, the squamose stipe surface, and the pseudocystidia with refractive content. In this paper, we describe and analyze the macro and microscopic features of Argentinian collections of this species, and provide photographs of its basidiomata and drawings of the most relevant microscopic structures. In addition, we present a map with the American distribution of M. titans, highlighting the first record of this species for the country

Constitution and characteristics of the Ibereño herbolarium: a case study within Iberá wetlands (Corrientes, Argentina)

This work is based in the investigation about the persistence of the use of medicinal plants in the communities inhabiting the wetlands within Iberá Natural Reserve. From the participant observation and semi-structured interviews, together with the collection of reference plants, the use of 90 medicinal plants to treat 171 ailments, distributed in 12 body systems was recorded. In addition, the informant consensus factor was also calculated and a correspondence analysis was made. It was concluded that the use and knowledge associated to medicinal plants remains active, depending mostly of the native species. For this reason, the maintenance and access to the native flora by ancestral communities is suggested, to conserve the biological and cultural diversity of the Iberá Natural Reserve
