Design Opportunities in Service-Product Combined Systems
This paper aims to examine recent research issues related to the integration of service and product in view of industrial design. Further, it attempts to identify new opportunities for further research regarding âproduct-servicizationâ vs. âservice-productizationâ.
In the continued efforts to provide the users with fuller experiences, one major trend is the blending of products and services.
Much existing research seems to either present cases or propose frameworks regarding the âconnectionâ, rather than âintegrationâ between products and services. Broadly, two major approaches seem to exist in this area: 1. product-servicization, 2. service-productization. The former generally indicates adding more services to existing products, whereas the latter generally refers to making services tangible and/or visible in the form of a product. However, findings of an extensive literature search conducted for this study suggest one important deficiency in dealing with service issues around the product: the âintegrationâ between the actual product design and service elements for supporting new service-product system. That is the rationale behind this research, an attempt to investigate the possibility for the integration of product design and service factors which could be embedded in the design of product itself in new service-product system.
This paper is largely based on qualitative research. New design research opportunities are identified by qualitatively analyzing relevant literature, synthesizing the information and presenting some cases to support the main argument of the research.
Design-led Service-Productization is not, and should not be re-arranging deck chairs on the Titanic. Rather, it should bring practical and tangible design issues related to new service-product system. Findings suggest that this approach could provide a new model of new product development integrated with a service scheme, which is a more proactive approach than âproduct-servicizationâ. Further development of this research could lead to establishing a framework for the Design-led Service-Product Integration.

Interfacial activity and interfacial shear rheology of native Ă-lactoglobulin monomers and their heat-induced fibers
Interfacial properties of native β-lactoglobulin monomers and their heat-induced fibers, of two different lengths, were investigated at pH 2, through surface tension measurements at waterâair and waterâoil interfaces and interfacial shear rheology at the waterâoil interface. The applied heat treatment generates a mixed system of fibers with unconverted monomers and hydrolyzed peptides. The surface tension of this system at the waterâair interface decreased more rapidly than the surface tension of native monomers, especially at short times (10âťÂł to 10²s). This behavior was not observed when the unconverted monomers and peptides were removed by dialysis. At the waterâoil interface, the adsorption kinetics was much faster than at the waterâair interface, with a plateau interfacial pressure value reached after 1 h of adsorption. For all the systems, interfacial shear rheology showed the formation of a highly elastic interface, with solid-like behavior at 1â10Âł s time scales. The highest modulus was observed for the long fibers and the lowest for the native monomers. Creepâcompliance curves in the linear regime could be reduced to a single master curve, showing similar spectra of relaxation times for all investigated systems. Upon large deformations, the interfaces formed with long fibers showed the most rigid and fragile behavior. This rigidity was even more pronounced in the presence of unconverted monomers
Mixed-State Entanglement and Quantum Teleportation through Noisy Channels
The quantum teleportation with noisy EPR state is discussed. Using an optimal
decomposition technique, we compute the concurrence, entanglement of formation
and Groverian measure for various noisy EPR resources. It is shown analytically
that all entanglement measures reduce to zero when , where
is an average fidelity between Alice and Bob. This fact indicates
that the entanglement is a genuine physical resource for the teleportation
process. This fact gives valuable clues on the optimal decomposition for
higher-qubit mixed states. As an example, the optimal decompositions for the

Growth of superconducting MgB2 thin films via postannealing techniques
We report the effect of annealing on the superconductivity of MgB2 thin films
as functions of the postannealing temperature in the range from 700 C to 950 C
and of the postannealing time in the range from 30 min to 120 min. On annealing
at 900 C for 30 min, we obtained the best-quality MgB2 films with a transition
temperature of 39 K and a critical current density of ~ 10^7 A/cm^2. Using the
scanning electron microscopy, we also investigated the film growth mechanism.
The samples annealed at higher temperatures showed the larger grain sizes,
well-aligned crystal structures with preferential orientations along the
c-axis, and smooth surface morphologies. However, a longer annealing time
prevented the alignment of grains and reduced the superconductivity, indicating

Optimal Harvesting for an Age-Spatial-Structured Population Dynamic Model with External Mortality
We study an optimal harvesting for a nonlinear age-spatial-structured population dynamic model, where the dynamic system contains an external mortality rate depending on the total population size. The total mortality consists of two types: the natural, and external mortality and the external mortality reflects the effects of external environmental causes. We prove the existence and uniqueness of solutions for the population dynamic model. We also derive a sufficient condition for optimal harvesting and some necessary conditions for optimality in an optimal control problem relating to the population dynamic model. The results may be applied to an optimal harvesting for some realistic biological models
Predictors and patterns of problematic Internet game use using a decision tree model
Background and aims Problematic Internet game use is an important social issue that increases social expenditures for both individuals and nations. This study identified predictors and patterns of problematic Internet game use. Methods Data were collected from online surveys between November 26 and December 26, 2014. We identified 3,881 Internet game users from a total of 5,003 respondents. A total of 511 participants were assigned to the problematic Internet game user group according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders Internet gaming disorder criteria. From the remaining 3,370 participants, we used propensity score matching to develop a normal comparison group of 511 participants. In all, 1,022 participants were analyzed using the chi-square automatic interaction detector (CHAID) algorithm. Results According to the CHAID algorithm, six important predictors were found: gaming costs (50%), average weekday gaming time (23%), offline Internet gaming community meeting attendance (13%), average weekend and holiday gaming time (7%), marital status (4%), and self-perceptions of addiction to Internet game use (3%). In addition, three patterns out of six classification rules were explored: cost-consuming, socializing, and solitary gamers. Conclusion This study provides direction for future work on the screening of problematic Internet game use in adults
