Miniaturized Ultra-Wideband Bandpass Filter Based on Substrate Integrated Quasi-Lumped Resonators
[EN] A compact ultra-wideband bandpass filter employing substrate integrated quasi-lumped resonators is presented in this paper. A multi-layer hybrid structure is proposed, combining quasi-lumped resonators and surface mount components. This allows a huge miniaturization degree due to the high capacitive loading. Moreover, strong magnetic and electric couplings can be implemented thus enabling the introduction of transmission zeros for improving response selectivity. A filter example centered at 5.35 GHz with a prescribed channel bandwidth of 2.9 GHz has been designed, manufactured and measured. The filter size is smaller than 7Ă7 mm2. The obtained results show the feasibility of the proposed approach. This project has received funding from the European Union Horizon

Mixed neuroendocrine-non-neuroendocrine neoplasms of the right colon: a case report
Mixed neuroendocrine-non neuroendocrine neoplasm (MiNENs) is a rare gastrointestinal neoplasm that has been redefined by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2017 as the association of two types of components, neuroendocrine and non-neuroendocrine, each of them present in at least 30% of the tumour mass. Small case reports and case series have demonstrated the occurrence of this neoplasm in the colon. We here report the case of a 47-year-old man undergoing colonscopy for anemia. This showed impassable polypoidal tumor budding in the right colic flexure. Computerized tomography (CT) scan and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed the presence of liver metastases. As the tumor was hemorrhagic, right hemicolectomy with lymph node dissection was performed. The histological examination showed MiNEN of the ascending colon. The patient received adjuvant chemotherapy
Compact Substrate Integrated Waveguide Wideband Bandpass Filter With Post-Manufacturing Tuning Capabilities
[EN] In this paper, a miniaturized wideband bandpass filter in coaxial substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technology is presented. To improve the response selectivity and coupling control, a multi-layer structure has been implemented, introducing both strong magnetic and electric couplings. To reduce the physical size of the device, surfaced-mounted device (SMD) capacitors have been integrated on the top layer. These allow both resonant frequency and capacitive coupling level control. Thus, a 4-th order Chebyshev filter with an absolute bandwidth (BW) of 2.9 GHz centered at 5.35 GHz has been designed, fabricated and measured. An extremely small filter size of 7 x 7 mm(2) has been obtained. A study of manufacturing tolerances are also presented in this paper, together with a post-manufacturing response correction allowed by the SMD elements. As it is shown in the paper, the filter's out-of-band rejection can be easily enhanced by introducing additional transmission zeros (TZs).This work was supported in part by the European's Union Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under the MarieSklodowska-Curie Innovative Triangle Networks (ITN) through TESLA under Grant 811232, in part by the European Space Agency(ESA) under Contract 4000124983, in part by the Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovacion (MICIN) through Spanish Government under the Research and Development Project PID2019-103982R-C41 and Project MICIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033, and in part by the funding for open access charge: Universitat Politecnica de ValenciaMessaoudi, EM.; MartĂnez PĂ©rez, JD.; Boria Esbert, VE. Plasmid-based high-resolution melting analysis for accurate detection of rpoB mutations in Mycobacterium tuberculosis isolates from Moroccan patients
Abstract Background Rapid diagnosis of drug resistance in tuberculosis (TB) is pivotal for the timely initiation of effective antibiotic treatment to prevent the spread of drug-resistant strains. The development of low-cost, rapid and robust methods for drug-resistant TB detection is highly desirable for resource-limited settings. Methods We report the use of an in house plasmid-based quantitative polymerase chain reaction-high-resolution melting (qPCR-HRM) analysis for the detection of mutations related to rifampicin-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) in clinical isolates from Moroccan patients. Five recombinant plasmids containing predominant mutations (S531L, S531W, H526Y and D516V) and the wild-type sequence of the Rifampicin Resistance-Determining Region (RRDR) have been used as controls to screen 45 rifampicin-resistant and 22 rifampicin-susceptible MTB isolates. Results The sensitivity and the specificity of the qPCR-HRM analysis were 88.8% and 100% respectively as compared to rifampicin Drug Susceptibility Testing (DST). The results of qPCR-HRM and DNA sequencing had a concordance of 100%. Conclusion Our qPCR-HRM assay is a sensitive, accurate and cost-effective assay for the high-throughput screening of mutation-based drug resistance in TB reference laboratories

Synthesis of aryl-thioglycopeptides through chemoselective Pd-Mediated conjugation
International audienceWe describe herein a Pd-catalyzed methodology for the thioglycoconjugation of iodoaryl peptides and aminoacids. This operationally simple process occurs under semi-aqueous conditions and displays wide substrate scope. The strategy has been successfully applied to both the thioglycosylation of unprotected peptides and the generation of thioglyco-aminoacid building blocks, including those suitable for solid phase peptide synthesis. To demonstrate the broad potential of this technique for late stage functionalization, we successfully incorporated challenging unprotected ÎČ-S-GlcNAc- and α-S-GalNAc- derivatives into very long unprotected peptides. This study opens the way to new applications in chemical biology, considering the well-recognized advantages of S-glycosides over O-glycosides in terms of resistance towards both enzymatic and chemical degradation
