    В данной статье на основе пяти принципов этики коммуникаций, выявленных американскими учеными, устанавливаются точки пересечения между основными принципами коммуникации и этикой ответственности субъекта. Осуществлен анализ понятия "этика коммуникаций" и выявлены особенности трансформации данного понятия в современных коммуникативных процессах. Подчеркивается, что ключевой фигурой в глобальности коммуникаций становится человек, создающий значения, определяющий многообразие форм знака в современном коммуникативном пространстве. Сделан вывод о том, что именно такой человек является связующим звеном между человеческими ценностями и основными принципами этики коммуникаций, что создает условия для развития ключевых положений этики ответственности

    A perspective: Regeneration of soft and hard tissues in the oral cavity, from research to clinical practice

    Regenerative medicine has gained much attention and has been a hot topic in all medical fields since its inception, and dentistry is no exception. However, innovations and developments in basic research are sometimes disconnected from daily clinical practice. This existing gap between basic research and clinical practice can only be addressed with improved communication between clinicians, academicians, industry, and researchers to facilitate the advance of evidence-based therapies and procedures and to direct research to areas of clinical need. In this perspective, six participants with strong clinical and research interests debated five previously conceived questions. These questions covered current methods and procedures for soft and hard tissue regeneration in the oral cavity with predictable outcomes, limitations of their respective protocols, and needs for future development of regenerative materials and technologies

    Clinicians’ Guide to Artificial Intelligence in Colon Capsule Endoscopy—Technology Made Simple

    Artificial intelligence (AI) applications have become widely popular across the healthcare ecosystem. Colon capsule endoscopy (CCE) was adopted in the NHS England pilot project following the recent COVID pandemic’s impact. It demonstrated its capability to relieve the national backlog in endoscopy. As a result, AI-assisted colon capsule video analysis has become gastroenterology’s most active research area. However, with rapid AI advances, mastering these complex machine learning concepts remains challenging for healthcare professionals. This forms a barrier for clinicians to take on this new technology and embrace the new era of big data. This paper aims to bridge the knowledge gap between the current CCE system and the future, fully integrated AI system. The primary focus is on simplifying the technical terms and concepts in machine learning. This will hopefully address the general “fear of the unknown in AI” by helping healthcare professionals understand the basic principle of machine learning in capsule endoscopy and apply this knowledge in their future interactions and adaptation to AI technology. It also summarises the evidence of AI in CCE and its impact on diagnostic pathways. Finally, it discusses the unintended consequences of using AI, ethical challenges, potential flaws, and bias within clinical settings

    Anatomical landmarks localization for capsule endoscopy studies

    Wireless Capsule Endoscopy is a medical procedure that uses a small, wireless camera to capture images of the inside of the digestive tract. The identification of the entrance and exit of the small bowel and of the large intestine is one of the first tasks that need to be accomplished to read a video. This paper addresses the design of a clinical decision support tool to detect these anatomical landmarks. We have developed a system based on deep learning that combines images, timestamps, and motion data to achieve state-of-the-art results. Our method does not only classify the images as being inside or outside the studied organs, but it is also able to identify the entrance and exit frames. The experiments performed with three different datasets (one public and two private) show that our system is able to approximate the landmarks while achieving high accuracy on the classification problem (inside/outside of the organ). When comparing the entrance and exit of the studied organs, the distance between predicted and real landmarks is reduced from 1.5 to 10 times with respect to previous state-of-the-art methods

    Depicting the battle between nectarine and Monilinia laxa: the fruit developmental stage dictates the effectiveness of the host defenses and the pathogen’s infection strategies

    Infections by the fungus Monilinia laxa, the main cause of brown rot in Europe, result in considerable losses of stone fruit. Herein, we present a comprehensive transcriptomic approach to unravel strategies deployed by nectarine fruit and M. laxa during their interaction. We used M. laxa-inoculated immature and mature fruit, which was resistant and susceptible to brown rot, respectively, to perform a dual RNA-Seq analysis. In immature fruit, host responses, pathogen biomass, and pathogen transcriptional activity peaked at 14–24 h post inoculation (hpi), at which point M. laxa appeared to switch its transcriptional response to either quiescence or death. Mature fruit experienced an exponential increase in host and pathogen activity beginning at 6 hpi. Functional analyses in both host and pathogen highlighted differences in stage-dependent strategies. For example, in immature fruit, M. laxa unsuccessfully employed carbohydrate-active enzymes (CAZymes) for penetration, which the fruit was able to combat with tightly regulated hormone responses and an oxidative burst that challenged the pathogen’s survival at later time points. In contrast, in mature fruit, M. laxa was more dependent on proteolytic effectors than CAZymes, and was able to invest in filamentous growth early during the interaction. Hormone analyses of mature fruit infected with M. laxa indicated that, while jasmonic acid activity was likely useful for defense, high ethylene activity may have promoted susceptibility through the induction of ripening processes. В результате исследования установлено, что разработанная система соответствует технологическим и техническим требованиям.The purpose of the work is to develop and study a two-zone electric drive of the drilling rig rotor.
