    FROM THE DROUGHT TERRITORY TO THE TERRITORIALIZATION OF THE CANAL OF SERTÃO IN ALAGOAS

    The Canal of Sertão shows itself as the biggest and most modern waterworks in the state of Alagoas, constituting itself as an important artifact introduced in the drought polygon of the state in order to appease the social problems caused by the low pluviometric indexes that frequently affect the semi-arid alagoano. Within this context, we carried out an analysis of the territorialities of the use of water along the channel, specifically in the municipalities of Delmiro Gouveia and Água Branca, in the search to understand how territorialities are formed along the canal, from the use of water. In this sense, in order to reach the proposed objective, a collection of official data was carried out in state secretariats, directly involved in the process of channel implantation and in federal and municipal agencies, ending with the application of non-directive interviews to the subjects Involved in the use of the Canal of Sertão water in the research focus area, thus being able to infer about the uses of water and the dynamics of the territorialities along the channel. We have as presuppositions for the theoretical foundation the concepts of territory, territorialization and territoriality, considering the territory as a geopolitical construction permeated by the relations of power, and its multiple territorialities

    Self-rated health: a study in an elderly low income population of São Paulo

    Self-rated Health has been taking an important status in epidemiological research because of its strong and independent association with mortality. International papers indicate many determinants factors of self-rated health, but few studies have been carried out indeveloping countries as Brazil. This paper aims to study socioeconomic characteristics and chronic diseases associated with self-rated health. It was performed a cross-sectional study with 2,072 old aged adults over 65 years, living in an economically deprived area in São Paulocity. Socioeconomic characteristics, chronic diseases, difficulty with activities of daily living, chronic pain and common mental disorders symptoms were accessed and analyzed with apolytomic logistic regression model. We found an association of self-rated health and income,angina, stroke, chronic cough, difficulty with activities of daily living, chronic pain and common mental disorders symptoms. It was concluded that self-rated health is a consistent variable, and studies performed in developed countries have found similar results.A autopercepção de saúde vem ganhando um importante espaço nas pesquisas epidemiológicas devido à sua forte e independente associação com mortalidade. Artigos internacionais apontam vários fatores determinantes da autopercepção de saúde, mas poucos estudos têm sido realizados em países em desenvolvimento, como o Brasil. Este trabalho tem como objetivo estudar os fatores socioeconômicos e as doenças que estão associadas à autopercepção de saúde. Foi realizado um estudo de corte transversal com 2.072 idosos acima de 65 anos, residentes em bairros da periferia oeste da cidade de São Paulo onde foram obtidos dados sobre características socioeconômicas, doenças crônicas, dificuldades nas atividades diárias, dor crônica e sintomas psiquiátricos menores, analisados com um modelo de regressão logística politômica. Foi encontrada associação da autopercepção de saúde com renda, angina, derrame, tosse crônica, dificuldades nas atividades diárias, dor e sintomas de transtornos mentais comuns. Concluímos que a autopercepção de saúde é uma variável muito consistente, e estudos realizados em países desenvolvidos encontraram resultados semelhantes

    KLOBUCHAR AND NEQUICK G IONOSPHERIC MODELS COMPARISON FOR MULTI-GNSS SINGLE-FREQUENCY CODE POINT POSITIONING IN THE BRAZILIAN REGION

    One of the main error sources in GNSS positioning comes from the ionosphere, an atmospheric layer that stays in the signal path between the satellite and the receiver. For single frequency positioning, the ionospheric effects can be minimized by using an ionospheric model e.g. Klobuchar or NeQuick G. These models are respectively associated to GPS and Galileo systems through their navigation messages, which broadcast coefficients that describe the worldwide ionospheric behavior, and the calculated ionospheric delay is then applied in the pseudorange observations. In this paper, it is presented a comparison between these two models in multi-GNSS (GPS and Galileo) single frequency point positioning, considering two Brazilian stations at different magnetic latitudes, and covered months of weak and strong ionospheric activity from 2013 to 2018. The results indicate a better performance of NeQuick G model compared to the Klobuchar. Considering all the analyzed periods and stations, Klobuchar improves the positioning accuracy in 16% and 50% in periods of weak and strong ionospheric activity, respectively, while NeQuick G improves the accuracy in 31% and 55%

    Polymer Nanocomposites

    The development of polymer nanocomposites has advanced, especially due to their new properties after nanoparticle incorporation. Many nanocomposites composed of synthetic polymers and/or biopolymers have been studied after incorporation of a diversity of nanoparticles, which differ in form, shape, surface area and chemical organization. In this chapter, some examples of nanocomposites based on poly-vinyl alcohol (PVA); polycarbonate (PC) and matrixes of dental resins are presented. These nanocomposites could be obtained by three basic methods: in situ polymerization, solution casting and melt extrusion. The best method is determined by the relation and route to the polymer-nanoparticle pair. The dispersion and distribution of nanoparticles in the polymer matrix is the key to obtaining new materials with synergism of compounds properties. This synergism depends on how strong is the intermolecular interaction between the polymer matrix and nanoparticles. The evaluation of new nano systems can be done by different techniques, usually microscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis and so on. Low-field NMR relaxometry has been used to evaluate polymer nanocomposites. This technique provides valuable information related to the interaction of the nanoparticles with the polymer matrix, and it also indicates the dispersion and distribution of these nanoparticles in the matrix

    Evaluation of a workshop oriented to “Protein Synthesis” : contributions and possibilities for teaching biochemistry in high school

    A tradução gênica é um processo que muitos estudantes do ensino médio têm dificuldade em entender e compreender, por tratar-se de um mecanismo dinâmico, complexo, de nível molecular e imperceptível aos sentidos, tornando-se abstrato e geralmente as representações em imagens estáticas dos livros didáticos e a sua abordagem são ineficientes para a compreensão. Desta forma, o objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o potencial didático que representações externas podem desempenhar no ensino e aprendizagem de “Síntese Proteica” por meio de uma oficina pedagógica. Participaram da oficina quarenta estudantes de uma escola pública. Os dados foram organizados e interpretados de acordo com uma análise qualitativa de conteúdo, na qual foram avaliados os conceitos predominantes, os ganhos conceituais e o tipo de interação promovida pela oficina na compreensão do tema. Os resultados indicaram que a oficina contribuiu para a melhoria (ou construção) de um modelo metal de síntese de proteínas pelos estudantes, fornecendo uma representação simbólica do processo por meio de interações guiadas. Essas interações, podem promover uma melhor aprendizagem.Gene translation is a process that many high school students find difficult to understand because it is a complex dynamic, molecular level mechanism imperceptible to the senses, becoming abstract. Usually, the representations in static images of textbooks and their approach are inefficient for understanding. Thus, the objective of this work was to evaluate the didactic potential that external representations can play in the teaching and learning of "Protein Synthesis" through a pedagogical workshop. Forty students from a public school participated in the workshop. The data were organized and interpreted according to a qualitative analysis of content, in which the prevailing concepts, the conceptual gains and the type of interaction promoted by the workshop in understanding the subject were evaluated. The results indicated that the workshop contributed to the improvement (or construction) of a mental model of protein synthesis by students, providing a symbolic representation of the process through guided interactions. These interactions can promote better learning

    Prática de ensino do jornalismo esportivo como pesquisa- formação: experiência de desancoragem de territórios conhecidos

    Este artigo detém-se a experiên-cia de oferta da disciplina de Jornalismo Esportivo, pela pri-meira vez na história da Univer-sidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul. Diante da relativa auto-nomia do referido campo e da produção científica existente sobre o tema, optou-se pelo aprofundamento do diálogo en-tre as áreas do Jornalismo e da Educação Física, com professo-res dos dois cursos, que minis-traram as aulas conjuntamente. Calcados nas dimensões instru-mental, crítica e produtiva da mídia-educação e subsidiados pela perspectiva da pesquisa-formação, organizaram o conte-údo em quatro eixos temáticos. A experiência resultou na pro-dução de seis podcasts esporti-vos e, sobretudo, na formação crítica e ampliada de profissio-nais das áreas e de sujeitos para o exercício da cidadania
