    A quality management based on the Quality Model life cycle

    Managing quality is a hard and expensive task that involves the execution and control of processes and techniques. For a good quality management, it is important to know the current state and the objective to be achieved. It is essential to take into account with a Quality Model that specifies the purposes of managing quality. QuEF (Quality Evaluation Framework) is a framework to manage quality in MDWE (Model-driven Web Engineering). This paper suggests managing quality but pointing out the Quality Model life cycle.     The Systematic Discovery of Services in Early Stages of Agile Developments: A Systematic Literature Review

    In recent years, agile methodologies have been consolidated and extended in organizations that develop software in Web environments. For this reason, the development methodology of these organizations will not only be related to Services, but also to the Web Engineering paradigm. These organizations are heading for incorporating software development methodologies whose paradigm can allow integration, naturally and in the earlier stages of Web applications develop with the services of the organization that described and published in the Services Portfolio. The aim of this study will be to analyze the current state of the art in the process of discovering services in early stages of agile software development with focus on those identified requirements that could be covered with the services included in the Service Portfolio. We have identified 20 relevant papers through conducting a double systematic literature review (SLR). It is concluded that no study has been found that can solve the entire process of discovering candidate services within an organization that cover the requirements of a new application developed with agile methodologies.     Comparison of starts and turns of national and regional level swimmers by individualized-distance measurements

    The aim of this study was to compare the race characteristics of the start and turn segments of national and regional level swimmers. In the study, 100 and 200-m events were analysed during the finals session of the Open Comunidad de Madrid (Spain) tournament. The “individualized-distance” method with two-dimensional direct linear transformation algorithm was used to perform race analyses. National level swimmers obtained faster velocities in all race segments and stroke comparisons,although significant inter-level differences in start velocity were only obtained in half (8 out of 16) of the analysed events. Higher level swimmers also travelled for longer start and turn distances but only in the race segments where the gain of speed was high. This was observed in the turn segments, in the backstroke and butterfly strokes and during the 200-m breaststroke event, but not in any of the freestyle events. Time improvements due to the appropriate extension of the underwater subsections appeared to be critical for the end race result and should be carefully evaluated by the “individualized-distance” method

    User-centered design not only requires designers to analyse and anticipate how users are likely to use a Web application, but also to validate their assumptions with regard to user behaviour in real environments. Cognitive neuroscience, for its part, addresses the questions of how psychological functions are produced by neural circuitry. The emergence of powerful new measurement techniques allows neuroscientists and psychologists to address abstract questions such as how human cognition and emotion are mapped to specific neural substrates.     Assessing the Impacts of Hatcheries on Green Turtle Hatchlings

    This study provides experimental evidence from Sri Lanka supporting the importance of releasing hatchlings immediately after emergence. Hatcheries may be somewhat resistant to the idea of adjusting their ecotourism policies to maximize hatchling survival upon release, as this would mean that the collection and release of hatchlings should take place in the dark, which may be less appealing for tourists. However, it is possible to combine tourism and conservation, following best practice guidelines (IUCN 2005), which recommend releasing at least 90% of the hatchlings from each nest immediately after emergence, and holding the remaining hatchlings as a tourist attraction. In this way, Sri Lankan, and turtle hatcheries worldwide, would be able to improve their contribution to sea turtle conservation whilst maintaining much needed tourist revenue

    Quality evaluation for Model-Driven Web Engineering methodologies

    Context: There are lots of approaches or methodologies in the Model-Driven Web Engineering (MDWE) context to develop Web Applications without reaching a consensus on the use of standards and scarcity of both, practical experience and tool support. Objective: Model-Driven Web Engineering (MDWE) methodologies are constantly evolving. Moreover, Quality is a very important factor to identify within a methodology as it defines processes, techniques and artifacts to develop Web Applications. For this reason, when analyzing a methodology, it is not only necessary to evaluate quality, but also to find out how to improve it. The main goal of this paper is to develop a set of Quality Characteristics and Sub-Characteristics for MDWE approaches based on ISO/ IEC standards. Method: From the software products context, some widely standards proposed, such as ISO/IEC 9126 or ISO/IEC 25000, suggest a Quality Model for software products, although up to now, there are no standard methods to assess quality on MDWE methodologies. Such methodologies can be organized into Properties, thus, a methodology has artifacts, processes and techniques. Then, each item is evaluated through a set of appropriate Quality Characteristics, depending on its nature. This paper proposes to evaluate a methodology as a product itself. Results: This paper recommends a set of Quality Characteristics and Sub-Characteristics based on these standards in order to evaluate MDWE methodologies quality. Additionally, it defines an agile way to relate these Quality Sub-Characteristics to Properties with the sole purpose of not only analyzing, but also assessing and improving MDWE methodologies.     Towards a homogeneous characterization of the model-driven web development methodologies

    In recent years a large number of Model-Driven Web development approaches have been designed and are being applied with success in real environments. However, as new ones are frequently emerging in this changing time, authors have to change and update them constantly and, consequently; development teams do not know which is the most suitable for them because in many cases it depends on their project scope. Furthermore, approaches are usually appearing with different concepts and terminologies in many cases, although all lack the use of standards and practical experience. Thus, the need of managing quality in this type of approach arises every day. This paper suggests a characterization of these methodologies in order to use this information for the quality management of Model-Driven Web development methodologies for authors and development teams alike.     A Method Based on AHP to Define the Quality Model of QuEF

    QuEF is a framework to analyze and evaluate the quality of ap proaches based on Model-Driven Web Engineering (MDWE). In this frame work, the evaluation of an approach is calculated in terms of a set of informa tion needs and a set of quality characteristics. The information needs are requirements demanded by users of approaches. On the other hand, the quality characteristics are specific aspects that the approaches provide to their users. In these lines, there is a gap in the importance of each quality characteristic in the QuEF and the degree of coverage of each information need regarding the quali ty characteristics. In this contribution, we propose a method to define the Quali ty Model within QuEF. This method is based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process in order to establish the importance of the quality characteristics and the degree of coverage of each requirement of the information needs regarding the set of quality characteristics.     Augmented Reality in Astrophysics

    Augmented Reality consists of merging live images with virtual layers of information. The rapid growth in the popularity of smartphones and tablets over recent years has provided a large base of potential users of Augmented Reality technology, and virtual layers of information can now be attached to a wide variety of physical objects. In this article, we explore the potential of Augmented Reality for astrophysical research with two distinct experiments: (1) Augmented Posters and (2) Augmented Articles. We demonstrate that the emerging technology of Augmented Reality can already be used and implemented without expert knowledge using currently available apps. Our experiments highlight the potential of Augmented Reality to improve the communication of scientific results in the field of astrophysics. We also present feedback gathered from the Australian astrophysics community that reveals evidence of some interest in this technology by astronomers who experimented with Augmented Posters. In addition, we discuss possible future trends for Augmented Reality applications in astrophysics, and explore the current limitations associated with the technology.
