Cap a una especialització en antropologia de camp: L'etnografia de l'esport

En aquest treball es presenten les possibilitats i les característiques de l'Etnografia de l'Esport, nascuda com a una especialitat de la ciència antropològica, l'objecte de la qual és l'estudi de camp de grups i manifestacions que presenten l'esport com a fet cultural fonamental. Aquesta modalitat va ser presentada per l'autor d'aquest article en la seva tesi doctoral (U.C.M. 1997). A l'article se citen les més importants aproximacions etnològiques en l'àmbit esportiu, i es proposen les tècniques d'estudi així com la metodologia de la recollida d'informació. L'objectiu de la ciència tracta d'assolir un coneixement profund dels usos i costums, valors, inquietuds i expectatives de microsocietats tan dispars com ara els futbolistes professionals i els clubs de paracaigudistes acrobàtics. Deporte: cultura y contracultura. Un estudio a través del modelo de los horizontes deportivos culturales

Desde las diferentes modalidades científicas sociales, el fenómeno deportivo ha sido tratado como una manifestación cultural, implantada en las sociedades y dirigida según sus propios modelos. Por ello, el deporte aparece indisolublemente ligado a la cultura. Desde los años sesenta han surgido y se han desarrollado otras manifestaciones deportivas que responden a motivaciones absolutamente diferentes y contrarias a las primeras. Consideramos, por tanto, que el deporte constituye asimismo un factor de etnicidad, al crear una identidad subcultural propia, marginal y, en esencia, contracultural al sistema. La clara oposición entre las escalas de valores, usos y costumbres de ambas manifestaciones requiere una reestructuración del concepto antropológico de deporte. Al quedar incompleta la acepción clásica del término, deben aplicarse modelos de estudio alternativos que permitan la comprensión de un fenómeno humano enormemente completo y variado. Hemos sustituido “Cultura del Deporte” por el Modelo de “Horizontes Deportivos”, permitiendo así una mayor la capacidad de comprender y estudiar las diferentes manifestaciones en sus contextos sociales. El estudio de diversos usos de la bicicleta nos aproxima a los horizontes deportivos: la vertiente tradicional se muestra eminentemente social e integradora del individuo en el sistema, asociada al Horizonte Central como medio de transporte mayoritario o ecológico y práctica placentera y saludable. El Horizonte Marginal, producto de la experimentación de nuevos modelos con fines de evasión social, disfrute del vértigo y el riesgo en la naturaleza. Por último, la asimilación por parte del sistema-cultura de las formas propias de las subculturas marginales ha dado lugar a nuevos modelos sincréticos del uso de la bicicleta

PORTUGUESE AVERAGE COST OF CAPITAL

The oldest Portuguese share index still being calculated is the BVL/PSI-General, one which started the daily series on 5/Jan/1988 with a base value of 1000 points. Everyday a single value is computed based on the closing prices of all the shares included in the sample. Also, all corporate events affecting the price of any share beyond market sentiment are taken into account through proper adjustments, either in the numerator or the denominator of the formula. However, for dates before January 1988, there is nothing comparable to this index since the two different series known either never disclosed the methodology adopted to calculate the index or followed solutions not compatible with the above index. The present paper explains the solutions adopted to replicate as closely as possible the methodology of the BVL-General index to the main market of the Lisbon Exchange for the period 1978 – 1987. This is the first estimate of the historical Equity Risk Premium in Portugal above short-term riskfree rate from the re-opening of the market following the Carnation Revolution (and the accompanying nationalizations), to the present. In showing a value of the same order of magnitude found in other countries, the paper invites further studies on the effects of political decisions such as privatizations and joining the European Union. Multimetallic (de)hydrogenation catalysed processes

The use of different metals working together in a synergistic way, allows synthetic transformations that are not achievable by other means. The metal cooperation becomes important in catalytic processes for the synthesis of sophisticated molecules or difficult transformations. A rationale design of multimetallic catalysed processes entails metal complexes and reaction conditions being compatible, which in general is not straightforward. A key feature for success found in all systems dealing with multimetallic processes is catalyst stability. The use of robust metal complexes increases the probability of success in the search of tandem catalytic processes. This microreview is based on the recent and most important findings of multimetallic catalysed processes that involved (de)hydrogenation reactions.
