Introduction: Renal biopsy is an invasive but necessary procedure to determine the exact diagnosis of patients, especially in patients with an unexplained renal impairment. The histopathological examination is vital not only for diagnosis, but also to prognosticate patients’ condition. Objective: This study was aimed at evaluating the results of renal bi- opsy in patients with unexplained rise in serum creatinine, and its association with the patients’ clinical characteristics. Methodology: This was a retrospective study done with data collected from biopsy results in Hospital Tg Ampuan Afzan, Kuantan between 2016 until April 2017. Baseline demographics, risk factors, rate and duration of worsening serum creatinine and the biopsy results were recorded. Results: There were 21 patients in which 14 (66.6%) were males, and 7 (33.3%) of the patients were females. The median age of the patients were 32.0 (IQR 21.0) years. A total of 15 (71.4%) patients have got no other disease comorbidities, and 5 (23.8%) were di- abetics. Three (14.2%) patients have history of taking herbal supplements. The median duration of deranged creatinine was 14.0 (IQR 13.0) days. The median urea on presentation was 10.0 (IQR 11.1) mmol/L, and the median Creatinine was 306.0 ( IQR 324.0) mmol/L. The median rise in creatinine was 137.0 (IQR 182.0) mmol/ L. Biopsy complications which were perinephric collection were noted in two patients (9.5%). The median glomeruli number attained was 20 (IQR 16). Mesangial matrix expansion and hyper- cellularity was noted in 12 (57.0%) patients. Tubular atrophy and interstitial inflammation was present in 17 (80.9%) patients. Out of the 21 biopsies, 13 (61.9%) were diagnosed to have glomerulone- phritis. Within that group, two (9.5%) of the patients were diag- nosed with Crescentic Lupus Nephritis Class IV. Other glomerulonephritis included IgA Nephropathy in 2 patients (9.5%) and Minimal change GN (9.5%). Eight (38.1%) of the results showed hypertensive changes (14.3%), Diabetic changes (4.3%), focal global glomerulosclerosis (4.3%) and Thrombotic micro- angiopathy (4.3%). The creatinine on presentation and also inter- stitial inflammation and tubular atrophy is not significantly correlated with the glomerulosclerosis group. Conclusion: Renal biopsy definitely still plays the most vital and irre- placeable role in the investigation of cases with unexplained renal impairment. Despite a vastly variable biopsy results between patients, renal biopsy has helped in determining the best treatment and prog- nosis for the patients in our study

Impact of Work Values in Promoting organizational citizenship behavior among academicians: The mediating roles of job satisfaction

Organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) has become an increasingly important aspect in improving organizational performance, employees' work attitude and behavior. However, research that focuses on work values, work attitude and OCB is still limited specifically in higher education institution (HEI) setting. Higher education workers particularly academicians at present portray a high individualistic culture with lesser OCB due to a great pressure and demand existed in the setting. This paper aims to investigate how certain work values promote academicians' organizational citizenship behavior and highlights the role of job satisfaction as a mediator between the aforementioned relationships. Work values in this study were looked at two aspects of terminal and instrumental. Meanwhile, OCB was looked at into two aspects namely OCB towards individual (OCBI) and organization (OCBO). This study population involved 460 academics retrieved from both private and public HEIs which were used a structural modelling approach in testing the hypotheses. The findings revealed that work values significantly predicted OCB. Both terminal and instrumental work values have a significant influence on academics' degree of OCB. Job satisfaction on the other hand mediates the relationship between terminal work values and OCB. The implication of this paper related to theoretical, empirical and policy advancement in relation to OCB at work was included

Semirefined carrageenan (SRC) plasticized with glycerol (G) and incorporated with antioxidants of 0.4% (v/v) of a-tocopherol and Persicaria minor (PM) extract was successfully developed. The objective of this study is to analyze the antioxidant effect of active packaging films from semirefined carrageenan incorporated with a-tocopherol and Persicaria minor on meat patties. Total phenolic content and antioxidant activity of a-tocopherol and PM extract were measured. The effects of a-tocopherol and PM extract incorporated with SRC-based films on meat patties were evaluated using thiobarbituric acid reactive substance (TBARS) assay, metmyoglobin assay, and pH value for 14 days of storage. The films with 0.4% (v/v) of a-tocopherol and PM extract exhibited a lower lipid oxidation in meat patties compared with that of control (SRC film only, p < 0.05). Also, a brown color development of the meat patties of less than 50% was observed at the end of the 14-day storage. Meanwhile, the pH values for all samples decreased throughout the storage period with the SRC+G+a-tocopherol film showed the highest pH value. Hence, the formulation of SRC film with a-tocopherol or PM extract could be used as an alternative packaging for extending the shelf life of food product with high fat contentPeer ReviewedPostprint (published version

Advances in computing technology, and data gathering tools provides a great opportunity in engineering area such as civil structure analysis domain to better understand its phenomenon. Our case study utilize these advances in pipeline structure in order to study the corrosion behavior that been one of the problem that leads to its failure. The availability of ILI data from MFL tools provides a better insight of corrosion process by using an efficient systems and data analysis method in order to extract important information regarding the condition of the pipeline. Our paper will discuss an implementation of automated matching systems and data correctional method that shown a promising result to improve the quality of data for future reliability assessment. The automated matching systems was evaluated using linear regression method for its sensitivity analysis whereby a modified corrosion rate method was used along with linear prediction method to verify the accuracy of the corrected data. Issues and advantage gain from this research is threefold; timeliness, accuracy, and consistencies in data sampling. This is a preliminary work towards a reliable pipeline assessment method

Abstract: Ibn Hazm al-Zahiri stood out as a critical analyst of Christian scriptures, however without giving any justification (ta’lil). Thus, his analysis methodology is known as the al-Zahiri’s Methodology. This paper seeks to introduce his methodology, analyze the approaches, his objections and critiques adopted by him in his study of Christianity. The interaction between Muslims and Christians in al-Andalus (Spain) stimulated Ibn Hazm to master Christianity and its scriptures. His book al-Fasl is an outcome of the continuous friction between Islam and Christianity in al-Andalus. Kitab al-fasl fi al-milal wa al-ahwa wa al-nihal continues to be considered a work of monumental significance in comparative religion, the first of its kind to systematically study of the religious doctrines of Islam, Judaism and Christianity. Key words: Ibn Hazm % Al-Zahiri’s Methodology % Inter-religious relation % Islam % Judaism % Christianit
