Time is one of the most important driving forces in Landscape Ecology. Time along with geosystem, biosystem and socialsystem determines landscape heterogeneity which reveals itself in different patterns and functions. Cultural Landscapes are the result of the interactions between man and environment along time

In this article we want, following the thinking of Michel Foucault, show that nutrition and diet have a central role in the processes of the modern subjectivation. Although apparently the topic of sexuality, word of the nineteenth century, has a great resonance, gradually emerge another thought that emphasizes the role of nutrition and dietetics structuring in our constitution as subjects. Taking this question a little further, stressing the eruption of new dietary speeches is my main argument. Indeed, the current devaluation of rational and scientific discourse dietary inspired by alternative ways of life brings to the surface the undercurrent, the long-term trend that now the Greeks in ancient times, placed in the foreground - the importance of the relationship of human beings with food

In this paper we intend to understand some forms of differentiating sociabilities around food in Cascais, occurring during meals organized by invitations or around specific foods. Focusing on the concept of "sociability", understood as an interactive process in which individuals choose the forms of communication and exchanges that connect them to others in contexts delimited in space and time. It is around the table that the sociability asserts itself, performing the values and regulations imposed by the "sociality". On the basis of Jean-Pierre Poulain’s work (2006), we try to demonstrate the sociabilities are differently constructed according to social groups, spaces and frameworks that unfold the meetings and sharing in social contexts identified during meals or outside them. These social interactions reveal the permanent and subtle impacts from a universe of sociocultural contexts which affect the social actor, whether he is aware of it or not. Considering the circumstances and the type of invitation, we highlight three dimensions of sociability configurations related to food: the situational and space dimension; the qualitative and quantitative scope. The results of this study reinforce the importance of this specific type of meals as a space of sociability. In the twenty-nine groups household we could analyze multiple figurations of meals by type of invitation and the emergence of new forms of differentiating sociability food

Prioritization of Software and System Requirements through Natural Language Processing for Testing Software

Tese de mestrado, Ciência de Dados, Universidade de Lisboa, Faculdade de Ciências, 2021Safety¬critical systems have been a constant and increased presence in industrial production, such as railways and vehicles. These systems are highly configurable and must be intensively tested by system engineers before being deliverable to customers. This process is highly time¬consuming and might require associations between the product features and requirements demanded by customers. Requirement prioritization looks to recognize the most relevant requirements of a system, aiming to reduce the costs and time of the testing process. Machine Learning has been shown useful in helping engineers in this task, automating associations between features and requirements. However, its application can be more difficult when requirements are written in natural language and if a ground truth dataset does not exist with them. In our work, we present ARRINA, a Natural Language Processing¬based recommendation system able to extract and associate components from safety¬critical systems with their specifications written in natural language and process customer requirements and map them to components. The system integrates a Weight Association Rule Mining framework to extract the components and their associations and generates visualizations that can help engineers understand which components are generally introduced in project requirements. The system also includes a recommendation framework that can associate in put requirements to existing subsystems, reducing engineers’ effort in terms of requirement analysis and prioritization. We performed several experiments to evaluate the different components of ARRINA over four railway’s subsystems and input requirements. As a result, the system achieved 90% of accuracy, which denotes its importance in reducing the time¬consuming of engineers in discovering the correct subsystem links and prioritizing requirements for the testing process

Montado’s ecosystem functions and services: the case study of Alentejo Central – Portugal

    Get PDF
Although the concept of ecosystem services is well defined and centred on human use of natural systems, it is not yet consensual. The ecosystem services connect ecology and economy; they allow to integrate ecology into policies and to bring a monetary value. Even if the authors do not entirely agree with the idea of giving a monetary value to all elements, living and not living, they consider that the concept of ecosystem services can be improved in the sense of a holistic landscape ecological approach. Montado is a high valuated cultural landscape typical from the Southwest of Iberian Peninsula. It concerns a human-shaped ecosystem composed by a mosaic of scattered cork oaks, holm oaks or mix oaks, with a high grazing diversity. The most important products of Montado are cork and other non-timber products. Nevertheless it’s highly value is on the ecosystem functions it can provide, namely biodiversity conservation, water cycle regulation, carbon sequestration and soil conservation. These ecosystem services are highly interconnected, and have a lot of dependences in a complex structure. So, the first goal of this paper is to identify the main Montado ecosystem services that must be valued in sustainable management and policies, in order to prevent biodiversity losses and other types of ecosystem degradation.ICAAM,CIMAC,CIDEHU

The effect of the low intensity centrifugation (300xg), as well as the breed variation were evaluated. To this, semen of 12 dogs of the Beagle (n = 3), Schnauzer (n = 3), Doberman (n = 3) and Boxer (n = 3) breeds, 3 ejaculates collected per individual, totaling 36 ejaculates were used. The direct microscopic evaluation of the motility parameters and the hypoosmotic and supravital staining tests were used. The individual means of sperm vigor and motility varied from 3.5 to 5.0 and from 63 to 90% respectively, while the breed means ranged from 4.4 to 4.9 and from 80 to 90%, respectively. No significant difference was observed in any of the parameters evaluated in fresh or centrifuged semen of dogs among the different breeds studied. Centrifugation of semen resulted in a reduction of about 13% in sperm vigor and 14% in motility and sperm index. The analysis of the parameters of viability and sperm membrane integrity shows a 38% and 14% reduction in the percentage of reactive cells to the hypoosmotic test and supravital staining respectively. These results allow us to conclude that the centrifugation protocol, even at low intensity, significantly reduces sperm motility, the membrane integrity and sperm viability, this effect being more clearly perceived through the hypoosmotic test.
