Maytansinol functionalization:towards useful probes for studying microtubule dynamics

11 p.-7 fig.-4 tab. 7 schem.Maytansinoids are a successful class of natural and semisynthetic tubulin binders, known for their potent cytotoxic activity. Their wider application as cytotoxins and chemical probes to study tubulin dynamics has been held back by the complexity of natural product chemistry. Here we report the synthesis of long-chain derivatives and maytansinoid conjugates. We confirmed that bulky substituents do not impact their high activity or the scaffold's binding mode. These encouraging results open new avenues for the design of new maytansine-based probes. This work was supported by the H2020-MSCA-ITN-2019 (860070 TUBINTRAIN), Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación PID2019-104545RB−I00 (JFD), Proyecto de Investigación en Neurociencia Fundación Tatiana Pérez de Guzmán el Bueno 2020, and by the European Union NextGenerationEU (J.F.D.). Sudden cardiac death in a woman with clinical evidence of coronary vasospastic disease and myocardial stunning. A necrospy insight into the etiology

    No full text
This case shed some light on the etiology of severe coronary vasospastic disease. A 54 years old lady with metabolic syndrome had a terminal ventricular fibrillation after an episode of acute ischemia caused by a coronary spasm. At the autopsy study an inflammatory perivascular and mainly perineural infiltration of the autonomic fibres of the cardiac nerves, confirmed at immunohistochemistry, could suggest a potential susceptibility of the nervous fibres to evoke an intense coronary vasospastic response as a consequence of non-specific events

Il sistema del verde nel paesaggio urbano. Appunti di studio sulle piazze alberate della borgata Quarticciolo

    No full text
This contribution presents the first results of a historical-critical study performed as part of the project for the regeneration of a public space in Borgata Quarticciolo; the study was carried out by the School of Specialisation in Architectural Heritage and the Landscape and an interdepartmental group of Sapienza University in collaboration with Municipality V - Roma Capitale. The study begins with a premise regarding the green policies implemented in Rome after the war and the transformation dynamics of its urban reality; it pieces together the historical sequence of changes in these areas by graphically illustrating the various phases of the evolution of the tree-lined squares in the Quarticciolo district from the late thirties to the present day. This is followed by an in-depth botanical review regarding the adaptability of Platanus x acerifolia in anthropised environments, with a particular focus on the damages to its roots

Laparoscopic Treatment of a Retroduodenopancreatic Endometriotic Cyst Observed Postpartum

Endometriosis occurs in 5%-10% of fertile women, usually in the pelvic region, such as the ovaries, uterine ligaments, pelvic peritoneum, and rectovaginal septum. A mesenteric endometriotic cyst is an exceptional observation and difficult to diagnose preoperatively. We report a case of a large mesenteric endometriotic cyst treated by laparoscopy. A 21-year-old Caucasian woman was admitted as an emergency to our Academic Hospital on the 30th day postpartum for abdominal pain and a palpable epigastric mass. A CT scan revealed a mass measuring 7.5 × 5.5 cm showing a fluid content, located below the pancreas. A preoperative diagnosis of mesenteric cyst was made and confirmed by MRI. A dissection of the mass from the inferior vena cava, pancreas, and duodenum was achieved by a laparoscopic approach. During the blunt dissection, avoiding any spillage, the cyst was aspirated to preserve a safe cleavage plane with the lower third of the duodenum showing tenacious adhesions to the mass. Histology revealed an endometriotic cyst of the mesenterium. To our knowledge, this is the first case reported in the literature of laparoscopic treatment of a retroduodenopancreatic endometriotic cyst observed postpartum. In dedicated centers, laparoscopic management could be the gold standard
