A Review on Vital Pulp Therapy in Primary Teeth

Maintaining deciduous teeth in function until their natural exfoliation is absolutely necessary. Vital pulp therapy (VPT) is a way of saving deciduous teeth. The most important factors in success of VPT are the early diagnosis of pulp and periradicular status, preservation of the pulp vitality and proper vascularization of the pulp. Development of new biomaterials with suitable biocompatibility and seal has changed the attitudes towards preserving the reversible pulp in cariously exposed teeth. Before exposure and irreversible involvement of the pulp, indirect pulp capping (IPC) is the treatment of choice, but after the spread of inflammation within the pulp chamber and establishment of irreversible pulpitis, removal of inflamed pulp tissue is recommended. In this review, new concepts in preservation of the healthy pulp tissue in deciduous teeth and induction of the reparative dentin formation with new biomaterials instead of devitalization and the consequent destruction of vital tissues are discussed

The Use of Subconjunctival Erythropoietin Injection to Treat Avascular Bleb after Trabeculectomy: A Case Report

Purpose: To report a patient with avascular bleb after trabeculectomy who showed promising results after subconjunctival erythropoietin injection. Case Report: A 45-year-old woman with the diagnosis of primary open-angle glaucoma and history of trabeculectomy three years prior was admitted to our center. The corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA) was 20/20 in both eyes. Her ocular examination revealed an avascular and cystic bleb in the right eye. Seidel test was negative while bleb sweating was observed after fluorescein staining of the bleb area. Intraocular pressure (IOP) was 5 mmHg in the right eye. Erythropoietin (2000 unit in 0.1 ml) was injected subconjuctivally around the bleb area in the temporal quadrant. Six weeks after the injection, the bleb area just superior to the conjunctiva showed an increased fibrosis formation while the IOP remained the same as before injection. &nbsp

Evaluation of the Nutritional Status in Children Admitted to the Neurology Ward of Mofid Children’s Hospital

ObjectiveMalnutrition is commonly considered as an important risk factor that can produce a negative influence on the prognosis of patients with chronic neurological diseases. We aimed to evaluate the nutritional status of patients admitted to the neurology ward of Mofid children's hospital via subjective and objective methods.Materials & Methods61 children (2-6 years of age) who were consecutively hospitalized at the neurology ward between January and March 2008 underwent objective (weight, height, mid upper arm circumference- MUAC- and triceps skinfold thickness- TSF) and subjective nutritional assessment.ResultsThe result showed that 42.6%, 37.7% and 25.9% of patients were consecutively wasted, underweight and stunted. The z- Scores for TSF and MUAC were below -1 in 32.7% and 41.8% of the patients,  consecutively. According to subjective Assessments (SGNA), 52.7% were malnourished. The prevalence of malnutrition was not significantly different between sex or diagnosis groups.Conclusionmalnutrition is of high prevalence in patients with neurologic diseases. Regular assessment and timely nutritional support may improve the situation.

In spite of his prediction, this fantasy never comes true in reality and it remains as a fairy tale and that is why this work is categorized in genre of fantasy. Neurological Manifestation of COVID-19: A Literature Review

In December 2019, the coronavirus ((COVID-19) outbreak related to severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV2) originated in China and expanded exponentially as a public health pandemic to over 200 countries. Over 8 million validated cases and approximately 800 000 deaths. The main type is cardiac and respiratory but neurological symptoms are further mentioned as case series and case records in the research. The most frequent manifestations have been reported to include dizziness and headache followed by delirium and encephalopathy. Gillian barre syndrome, acute transversal myelitis, cerebrovascular accident, and encephalitis are among the complications noted. The most prominent occurrence at the periphery was hyposmia. This is also known that neurological demonstrations will also lead to regular features such as cough and fever, which evolve in these cases later on normal manifestations. For the timely diagnosis and separation of cases, therefore, a great suspicion guide is needed to arrest spread in neurology departments.
