A column-store meets the point clouds
Dealing with LIDAR data in the context of database management
systems calls for a re-assessment of their functionality, performance,
and storage/processing limitations. The territory for efficient and
scalable processing of LIDAR repositories using GIS enabled database
systems is still largely unexplored. Bringing together hard core
database management experts and GIS application developers is a
sine qua non to advance the state of the art. In particular to assess
the relative merits of both traditional row-based database engines
and the modern column-oriented database engines

Enzymatic preparation of structured triacylglycerides containing γ-linolenic acid
with the addition of molecular sieves (MS) at different addition times (3, 9, 12 and 15 h) and loads (2.5, 5, 10 and 15%, based on the total weight of substrates), the enrichment of GLA from evening primrose oil (EPO) and 1- butanol (BtOH) was improved via Candida rugosa lipase-catalysed esterification reactions. Secondly, the GLAenriched fraction was separated by thin-layer chromatography (TLC) to be further set to react during the third step in the presence of glycerol and Candida antarctica fraction B (CALB), under different enzyme loadings (5, 10, 15 and 20%, based on the total weight of substrates), temperatures (30, 40, 50 and 60 ◦C) and substrates molar ratios (1:1, 2:1, 3:1 and 4:1, GLA:glycerol). 60% of STAG containing 49 wt% of GLA were produced by using 15% of CALB at 60 ◦C and a 3:1 molar ratio.Conacyt: Beca no. 328716 UAEMex: Proyecto 3866/2015/PI
VOEvent Standard for Fast Radio Bursts
Fast radio bursts are a new class of transient radio phenomena currently
detected as millisecond radio pulses with very high dispersion measures. As new
radio surveys begin searching for FRBs a large population is expected to be
detected in real-time, triggering a range of multi-wavelength and
multi-messenger telescopes to search for repeating bursts and/or associated
emission. Here we propose a method for disseminating FRB triggers using Virtual
Observatory Events (VOEvents). This format was developed and is used
successfully for transient alerts across the electromagnetic spectrum and for
multi-messenger signals such as gravitational waves. In this paper we outline a
proposed VOEvent standard for FRBs that includes the essential parameters of
the event and where these parameters should be specified within the structure
of the event. An additional advantage to the use of VOEvents for FRBs is that
the events can automatically be ingested into the FRB Catalogue (FRBCAT)
enabling real-time updates for public use. We welcome feedback from the
community on the proposed standard outlined below and encourage those
interested to join the nascent working group forming around this topic.Comment: 11 pages, 2 figures, parameter definition table in appendi
Benchmarking and improving point cloud data management in MonetDB
The popularity, availability and sizes of point cloud data sets are increasing, thus raising interesting data
management and processing challenges. Various software solutions are available for the management of
point cloud data. A benchmark for point cloud data management systems was defined and it was executed
for several solutions. In this paper we focus on the solutions based on the column-store MonetDB, the
generic out-of-the-box approach is compared with two alternative approaches that exploit the spatial
coherence of the data to improve the data access and to minimize the storage requirement
Electrochemical Mineralization of Ibuprofen on BDD Electrodes in an Electrochemical Flow Reactor: Numerical Optimization Approach
Statistical analysis was applied to optimize the electrochemical mineralization of ibuprofen with two boron-doped diamond (BDD) electrodes in a continuous electrochemical flow reactor under recirculation batch mode. A central composite rotatable (CCR) experimental design was used to analyze the e ect of initial pH (2.95–13.04), current intensity (2.66–4.34 A), and volumetric flow rate (0.16–1.84 L/min) and further optimized by response surface methodology (RSM) to obtain the maximum mineralization e ciency and the minimum specific energy consumption. A 91.6% mineralization e ciency (EM) of ibuprofen with a specific energy consumption (EC) of 4.36 KW h/g TOC within 7 h of treatment was achieved using the optimized operating parameters (pH0 = 12.29, I = 3.26 A, and Q of 1 L/min). Experimental results of RSM were fitted via a third-degree polynomial regression equation having the performance index determination coe cients (R2) of 0.8658 and 0.8468 for the EM and EC, respectively. The reduced root-mean-square error (RMSE) was 0.1038 and 0.1918 for EM and EC, respectively. This indicates an e cient predictive performance to optimize the operating parameters of the electrochemical flow reactor with desirability of 0.9999993. Besides, it was concluded that the optimized conditions allow to achieve a high percentage of ibuprofen mineralization (91.6%) and a cost of 0.002 USD $/L. Therefore, the assessed process is e cient for wastewater remediation.CONACyT (791495 y 740588
What do we evaluate in sport mindfulness interventions? A systematic review of commonly used questionnaires
Interest of the study: mindfulness is a concept describing the focus on the present moment, intentionally and without judgement. This approach has only recently been applied to sport psychology.
Objectives: the aim of the current review is to investigate which indicators and questionnaires are used in mindfulness research in sport, being specifically interested in mindfulness assessment.
Methods: PRISMA guidelines for systematic reviews and the recommendations of the Cochrane Collaboration were used. Literature searches were conducted in Psychinfo, PubMed, EMBASE and the Cochrane Library.
Results: From 2, 203 records initially retrieved, 17 articles were included. The results show that mindfulness, anxiety and acceptance are the most commonly studied psychological indicators. The Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire is the most frequently used mindfulness scale. We also discuss the possibility of using physiological indicators as complementary assessment.
Conclusions: It is recommended to specifically adapt some questionnaires, such is already done with the Sport Anxiety Scale or the Mindfulness Inventory for Sport, for their use in sport psychology
