    A permutation Information Theory tour through different interest rate maturities: the Libor case

    This paper analyzes Libor interest rates for seven different maturities and referred to operations in British Pounds, Euro, Swiss Francs and Japanese Yen, during the period years 2001 to 2015. The analysis is performed by means of two quantifiers derived from Information Theory: the permutation Shannon entropy and the permutation Fisher information measure. An anomalous behavior in the Libor is detected in all currencies except Euro during the years 2006--2012. The stochastic switch is more severe in 1, 2 and 3 months maturities. Given the special mechanism of Libor setting, we conjecture that the behavior could have been produced by the manipulation that was uncovered by financial authorities. We argue that our methodology is pertinent as a market overseeing instrument.Comment: arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:1304.039

    La experiencia de investigación que aquí se presenta está orientada específicamente a la situación de la diversidad sexual y la percepción de la comunidad universitaria. El estudio se llevó a cabo en la FAREM Matagalpa, durante el primer semestre del año 2017 con el objetivo de analizar la situación de la diversidad sexual y la percepción de la comunidad universitaria. Se realizó a partir de un enfoque metodológico cualitativo, con técnicas de recolección de información como las entrevistas a profundidad y grupos focales, la información obtenida se analizó en función de los objetivos formulados y según su naturaleza cualitativa, haciendo procedimientos para el análisis de los mismos. Los análisis fueron sustentados por los relatos de los y las estudiantes muestra, estudiantes compañeros de clase y docentes de los mismos, dado que la diversidad sexual está influenciada por mitos, prejuicios así como estereotipos que la misma sociedad impone hacia las personas de la diversidad sexual. El estudio demostró que los estudiantes de la diversidad sexual necesitan más apoyo, y que el resto de la comunidad universitaria requiere de más información sobre el tema, puesto que en algunas de las respuestas de entrevistas aportaban que hacía falta información por parte de la universidad. Finalmente se concluye que la comunidad universitaria debe brindar el apoyo necesario e información a estudiantes sobre diversidad sexual, para mejorar y lograr la aceptación de la comunidad LGBT, para que estos se encuentren seguros y puedan relacionarse libremente en su entorno social Palabras claves: Estudiantes, diversidad sexual, percepción, comunidad universitari

    Circadian rhythms of proliferation events in two mouse carcinomas

    We studied the index of DNA synthesis (DNAs) of two cellular carcinomas: the hepatocellular ES12a and the mammary TN60 of mice, throughout one circadian cycle. In the results, we observed that both tumors have circadian rhythms (CRs), but the peaks of DNAs vary. Besides, the mean of DNAs along 24 h shows significative differences, the TN60 has higher values than the ES12a. These observed CR in the DNAs index in both carcinomas mean that, at least in partly, the proliferation of cancer cells can be regulated by endocrine factor as it normally occurs in ordinary cells. The big problem we can find for the chronopharmacology is that it is impossible to know in advance the rate of proliferation of each tumor.Fil: Garcia, Marcela. Universidad Nacional de la Plata.     Security Architecture for Swarms of Autonomous Vehicles in Smart Farming

    Nowadays, autonomous vehicles are incorporated into farms to facilitate manual labour. Being connected vehicles, as IoT systems, they are susceptible to cyber security attacks that try to cause damage to hardware, software or even living beings. Therefore, it is important to provide sufficient security mechanisms to protect both the communications and the data, mitigating any possible risk or harm to farmers, livestock or crops. Technology providers are aware of the importance of ensuring security, and more and more secure solutions can be found on the market today. However, generally, these particular solutions are not sufficient when they are part of complex hybrid systems, since there is no single global solution proposal. In addition, as the number of technologies and protocols used increases, the number of security threats also increases. This article presents a cyber-security architecture proposal for swarms of heterogeneous vehicles in smart farming, which covers all of the aspects recommended by the ISO 7798-2 specification in terms of security.     The efficacy of the attack and block in game phases on male FIVB and CEV beach volleyball

    The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy and differences of the attack, block, and reception in side out and counter-attack phases during beach volleyball games. A total of 80 games of FIVB World Tour and European Championships were analyzed. The technical skills analyzed were the type and efficacy of the attack, the type of block, and the efficacy of reception. The sample included 13.939 rallies, including attack (n=7.090), block (n=7.090), and serve reception (n=5.161). Descriptive statistics were applied in order to obtain frequencies and percentages. Inferential statistics were calculated (p<.05) through chi square tests. The results showed that the spikes were more frequent values than shots at both side out and counterattack phases. Attack errors and kills were the more frequent values in both phases. Perfect receptions showed a kill percentage similar to situations when the reception was limited. It was concluded that players should make fewer errors when spiking, and coaches should pay more attention to fake blocks during both side out and counter-attack phases

    Parenting styles, cyberaggression, and cybervictimization among adolescents

    Social concern about the negative effects of cyberbullying in children and adolescents’ psychosocial development is currently increasing. The importance of the family environment and factors in bullying has been highlighted, but little is known about the role of parenting styles in adolescents' engagement in cyberaggression and cybervictimization. The aim of this study was to analyze the relationships of parenting styles (authoritative, indulgent, authoritarian, and neglectful) and cyberbullying (cybervictimization and cyberaggression) in adolescents, also considering sex and age. Participants were 2399 Spanish adolescents, 50.2% boys, aged between 12 and 18 years old (Mage = 14.69, SDage = 1.82). A multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA, 4 × 2 × 2) was performed, with parenting styles, sex, and age (12–14 years and 15–18 years) as independent variables and cybervictimization and cyberaggression as criteria. Possible interaction effects were also analyzed. Results showed main effects of parenting styles, sex, and age, as well as an interaction effect between sex and parenting styles. Girls suffered more cybervictimization than boys, whereas boys performed higher levels of cyberaggression than girls. Results suggested that authoritarian parenting style was a risk factor for cyberviolence. Girls from authoritarian families scored highest on cybervictimization. Boys from indulgent families were less involved in cybervictimization. These findings highlight the importance of establishing positive and open communication between parents and adolescents.     Maritime Data Transfer Protocol (MDTP): A Proposal for a Data Transmission Protocol in Resource-Constrained Underwater Environments Involving Cyber-Physical Systems

    The utilization of autonomous maritime vehicles is becoming widespread in operations that are deemed too hazardous for humans to be directly involved in them. One of the ways to increase the productivity of the tools used during missions is the deployment of several vehicles with the same objective regarding data collection and transfer, both for the benefit of human staff and policy makers. However, the interchange of data in such an environment poses major challenges, such as a low bandwidth and the unreliability of the environment where transmissions take place. Furthermore, the relevant information that must be sent, as well as the exact size that will allow understanding it, is usually not clearly established, as standardization works are scarce in this domain. Under these conditions, establishing a way to interchange information at the data level among autonomous maritime vehicles becomes of critical importance since the needed information, along with the size of the transferred data, will have to be defined. This manuscript puts forward the Maritime Data Transfer Protocol, (MDTP) a way to interchange standardized pieces of information at the data level for maritime autonomous maritime vehicles, as well as the procedures that are required for information interchange.SWARMs (Smart and Networking Underwater Robots in Cooperation Meshes) 1034 European research project.
