    Get PDF
This essay addresses the difficulties of understanding a culture other than our own, in particular Japanese culture, as well as the issues we need to be aware of if we do not want to be unjust in judging others according to our way of looking at things, and avoid ethnocentric or orientalist views when we talk about other cultures. Once basic concepts are assimilated and explained, we shall explore the Japanese way of living by paying attention to the more popular religions in Japan, their moral codes, as well as the duality of Japanese society manifested by the concepts hone-tatemae. By means of these tools, next we approach Japanese body language. We shall study some of the most ordinary gestures we can see daily in Japan, which are deeply rooted in the Japanese tradition and cannot be understood unless one is familiarized enough with Japanese culture. Finally, we apply what we have learnt to the film Tōkyō monogatari. We shall analyze the gestures that are present in the film while calling attention to how they are related to the Japanese worldview.Universidad de Sevilla. Grado en Estudios de Asia Orienta

Informe aportación española a proyecto europeo. The spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and its devastating effects has brought to light the contradictions already present in our society. These include the gender gap and the low value placed on care work. In this contribution, we focus on observing the effects of the syndemic in the Spanish service sector. In the future, it is our intention to collaborate in research aimed at investigating the other two issues, which have not been ad- dressed in this contribution. In southern Europe, Spain, like Italy, was one of the countries which was worst affected by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Italy and Spain share a labour market structure marked by strong gender segregation, high precariousness of women’s employment, and wage restraint in the most female-dominated sectors. The following study highlights the issue that employment does not always enable women to escape from hardship and poverty. Moreover, the increase in female employment in itself says little about the conditions women face in the labour market. The crisis produced by the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus has put a spotlight on the structural na- ture of gender discrimination in society and the presence of working conditions, which, according to ILO indicators, are far from satisfactory.European Parlament transform! european network for alternative thinking and political dialogu

The study we are presenting shows an experience in which the teacher shares with the students a class diary that is mostly composed of personal reflective processes that happen during the subject. The context in which this experience takes place is in the subject Educational Organisation, in the second year of the degree in pedagogy at the University of Malaga, in the first semester of the academic year 2022- 2023. In this experience, 60 students and the four people who signed this paper participated, three of them being teachers of this subject, and the remaining person teaches the same group, but in another subject. The main objective is to show students the role of the teacher in a more humanised and closer way in order to create a relationship of trust between teachers and students. Paraphrasing bell hooks (2022), in order to create an atmosphere of trust in the classroom it has been necessary to take the teacher out of his or her safety zone, this has been done by not being afraid to show and recognise his or her mistakes, insecurities and even feelings of vulnerability with respect to some topics and situations that arise in class. Following the idea of the same work by bell hooks, conflict situations are used as opportunities to create spaces for debate and critical thinking instead of treating conflicts as taboo situations that are ignored to avoid frustration. The teacher, in this case, shares feelings of satisfaction, frustration, concerns, challenges, and even acknowledges mistakes in the approach to activities that turn out to be contrary to expectations. This generates class discussions in which a process of evolution in classroom interactions can be appreciated. The results of this experience, as well as its consequences, will be shared in the conclusions of this work.

A Disruptive Educational Project in Secondary Education. The Case of IES Cartagines.

    Get PDF
The project presented here arises from the new educational needs that emanate from the changes taking place in the social, cultural, political, and economic spheres. The boundaries of formal education, as it has been understood until now, are being breached by new forms of learning, communication, and relationships, which are claiming their place in educational institutions. This is particularly relevant at the level of secondary education where the boundaries of conventional cultural and social systems are constantly being overwhelmed by these new realities (Fernández Enguita, 2016). This makes it necessary to rethink the systems of teaching and working in the educational system. Students at this educational level have a profile and resources closely linked to the knowmadic society (Cobo, 2016, Movarec, 2008), in which there is less and less sense in a teaching model based mainly on the unidirectional transmission of knowledge (Downes, 2017). This, in interaction with families, teachers and other educational agents, generates a world of conflicts of various kinds: curricular, social, attitudinal and expectations, etc.

    Get PDF
