Emotions are a human dimension that greatly enhances social relations. Several authors
from antiquity have highlighted its role in the functioning of societies, and the role and
ethics in human relationships. In this paper we analyze a selection of television campaign
spots of the General Directorate of Traffic in Spain, taking into account a number of
variables that are useful for measuring the use of emotions held in such campaigns. We will
study the ethical dimension of the use of emotions in those spots. We will take elements
from Adam Smith’s moral philosophy as well as from the sociologist Eva Illouz
As is well known, one of the objectives of the Spanish Traffic Department (DGT) is to reduce accidents in both urban roads and on highways. Fortunately, in the last decade, there has been a decline in the number of accidents and death rates thereof. However, the numbers remain high, mainly because there are a percentage of cases that could be prevented with good driving practices. One tool available to the DGT are road safety campaigns both through mediaradio, billboards, television, Internet, and their YouTube channel and their own website. In this paper we analyze the different types of emotions that are represented in different spots that the DGT has promoted on television and note which ones appear more frequently.
The "microblogging" in the teaching-learning process. Academic experience with Twitter
The digital social networks have changed the behavior and habits of human beings. It is shown that its benefits are also multiple teaching application, but still there are few experiences in the classroom. We present a practice developed with Twitter class at the university level that corroborates the potential of microblogging in the teaching-learning process advocated by the European Space for Higher Education (EEES)
An increasing consume society and a wide variety of products have created the wellknown
necessity of marketing but also of an appropriate communication with its target public. One
of the most valued items of our society is time and time is always missing. So advertising
must convince and please very quickly. Music in spots is a helpful tool to communicate, in a
very short period of time, added values of the advertised product and that makes music a
very used resource in all sort of advertisement. In this survey we want to analyze the values
that Coca- Cola brand communicates in its spots through music to create its brand image
and to reach its public
The audiovisual representation of poverty in the advertising of the NGDO Manos Unidas.
Every day, the communication media offer portrayals of the so-called Third World and developing countries. These areas of the world, being more or less far geographically, are conceived through a mediation and representation process, be it with informative or advertising purposes, with a large emphasis on the value of audiovisual and digital media to generate empathy through emotions. This study offers the most noteworthy results of a research effort focused on the audiovisual advertising of the Spanish Non-Governmental Development Organization (NGDO) Manos Unidas, analyzing its advertising campaigns since 1995, when their first advertisement was released, until 2015. Using a content analysis approach and the application of the audiovisual narrative analytical paradigm, this diachronic study explains concrete aspects regarding the representation of poverty in 30 advertising pieces, where we can highlight the feeling of hope in human kind, the use of images to represent real-life stories or testimonies and the permanent suggestion of transformative action and the encouragement of empathy and the values of commitment and solidarity. In this case, advertising is a genre that allows us to understand how poverty is represented in the media
Analysis of the female voice in the music of Spanish spots
There are a number of studies about women’s presence in different countries
advertisements which particularly refer to their physical appearance and the
roles they play. However, their presence through the female voice in the music
of television spots has never been treated until now. In this article, we have
analysed more than four hundred spots broadcasted by Spanish generalist
television channels during prime time and we have found out three different
musical contexts for the feminine voice: singing a song (Spanish or foreign
lyrics), singing a jingle (a trademark characteristic short song), or humming a
tune without lyrics. We have analysed these data in terms of absolute values
and also related to other elements, such as the advertised product, the place
where the woman is located and the people who are with her; all this in order to
discover the possible reasons for the use of the feminine voice in these musical
expressions, as well as the different meanings that they provide to the meaning
of the spot
tipos de composiciones escritasFrom Internet, the messages in the digital
surroundings prompt gave place to the
creation and use of the hypertext, which
produce a new type of texts. While ones
perceive this fact like release front to the traditional written text, others interpret it like dehumanization, to consider that the authors of said texts lose all “authority”, at the same
time that they see it a danger for the scientific
rigour, to cause of the proliferation of irrelevant
and anonymous texts in the Net, caused
by development of the technology. This article
deals with the complementarity between both
types of texts
