Isobaric molar heat capacities of the mixture (p-cymene + ethanol) at several temperatures and atmospheric pressure
Experimental isobaric molar heat capacities at atmospheric pressure have been determined every 10 K for the mixture p-cymene (1) + ethanol (2) in the temperature interval (298.6–328.4) K over the whole composition range with a Calvet type calorimeter. Densities, necessary for calculating heat capacities, have been also measured in the same conditions. Excess molar volumes have been calculated from densities. Excess molar heat capacities have been calculated from the molar heat capacities, their values being positive and increasing as the temperature rises. Excess properties are discussed in terms of intermolecular interactions. The solvation model COSMO-RS has been applied to predict the excess molar heat capacities. The model predicts fairly well the values of the excess heat capacities
Anthropometric and equipment characteristics in adolescent sprint kayakers
The aims of this study were to describe kinanthropometric characteristics and equipment set-up of male and female young kayakers and to look for correlations between both variables. Ninety one young sprint kayakers (45 males and 46 females), aged 13 and 14 years old, were assessed using a battery of 12 anthropometric and 5 equipment dimensions. Comparison between the 13- and 14-year-old kayakers showed that 14-year-old males had greater body and equipment dimensions than their 13-year-old counterparts, whereas there were no significant differences between 13- and 14-year-old female kayakers in both anthropometric and equipment set-up dimensions. Stretch stature and arm span were the variables which greater coefficient correlations showed with total paddle length and seat - feet bar distance. The data presented in this paper may provide important information to adjust equipment sep-up in order to optimise comfort and performance in young kayakers
Industrial progress used to be linked to the produce of large waste volumes. These industrial by-products are deposited in landfills despite these ones could be used to manufacture others. In fact, the construction industry could incorporate these materials to contributing to greater environmental balance.
This paper studies the manufactured of concrete using as aggregates two kind of different wastes: construction and demolition wastes as well as recycled tires rubber (NFU). Natural fine fraction is replaced by a 10% by volume of industrial products analyzed. The mechanical behaviour and the acoustic properties of concrete made with recycled aggregates are studied. Results show a reduction in mechanical properties by using recycled aggregates and NFU. Nevertheless, it is observed that concrete made with fine recycled aggregate fraction of NFU could be employed with all the guarantees to produce concrete for non-structural applications.
New data of the genus Boccardia Carazzi, 1893 (Polychaeta: Spionidae) for the Iberian Peninsula and the Atlantic Ocean
The first record for the Iberian coast and the Atlantic Ocean of two species of polychaetous annelids belonging to the genus Boccardia Carazzi, 1893 (Spionidae) is presented. Boccardia semibranchiata Guérin, 1990 is a recently described species from the Mediteranean Sea, whereas Boccardia proboscidea Hartman, 1940 is a very common species from the Pacific coasts. Both species have been collected in two intertidal zones from San Sebastián (Iberian Peninsula - Bay of Biscay). In the present paper, the collected specimens of both species are described, illustrated and discussed, and notes on their ecology and distribution are included. A simple key for the genus Boccardia for the Atlantic coasts is also provided.
On the entropy of a stealth vector-tensor black hole
We apply Wald's formalism to a Lagrangian within generalised Proca gravity
that admits a Schwarzschild black hole with a non-trivial vector field. The
resulting entropy differs from that of the same black hole in General
Relativity by a logarithmic correction modulated by the only independent charge
of the vector field. We find conditions on this charge to guarantee that the
entropy is a non-decreasing function of the black hole area, as is the case in
GR. If this requirement is extended to black hole mergers, we find that for
Planck scale black holes, a non-decreasing entropy is possible only if the area
of the final black hole is several times larger than the initial total area of
the merger. Finally, we discuss some implications of the vector Galileon
entropy from the point of view of entropic gravity
Scavenging Behaviour of Red Deer Cervus elaphus Linnaeus, 1758 (Artiodactyla: Cervidae) in Eastern Spain
A male red deer was repeatedly observed scavenging in eastern Spain. This is the first time this behaviour of the red deer being recorded by means of camera traps. Scavenging behaviour of herbivores may have implications for wildlife biologists and managers
