The billiard inside an ellipse deformed by the curvature flow

The billiard dynamics inside an ellipse is integrable. It has zero topological entropy, four separatrices in the phase space, and a continuous family of convex caustics: the confocal ellipses. We prove that the curvature flow destroys the integrability, increases the topological entropy, splits the separatrices in a transverse way, and breaks all resonant convex caustics.Comment: 13 pages, 1 figur

Relationship between concentration of isoflavones in soybean grain and potassium fertilization

Soybean grain contains isoflavones that may prevent various human diseases. Previous studies in Canada found that K fertilization and high grain K concentration can result in increased isoflavones concentration in grain, but effects were inconsistent across sites and soil-test K (STK) levels. The objective of this study was to assess (1) effects of K fertilization on the concentration of isoflavones and K in soybean grain and (2) relationships between soybean grains K concentration, isoflavone concentration, and yield. The study was based on analyses of grain collected from selected treatments and years of six Iowa long-term experiments that investigated effects of K fertilization and placement methods on soybean yield. Four experiments evaluated K placement methods for no-till soybean in rotation with corn (Zea mays, L.) from 1994 to 2001 at Iowa research farms located near Nashua, Kanawha, Lewis, and Sutherland. Two experiments evaluated broadcast K rates from 1976 until 2001at research farms near Ames and Kanawha. Grain samples were collected from two replications of three treatments from 17 site-years. Treatments selected from the placement trials were a control (no K) and 66 kg ha-1 yr-1 broadcast or deep-banded 15-20 cm depth, although at (two sites) Kanawha and Nashua grain also was collected from plots receiving 33 kg K ha-1 yr-1. Treatments selected from the other trials were a control and 67 or 100 kg K ha-1 yr -1. Soil samples were collected before planting soybean from the control plots for STK analyses. Grain was analyzed for concentration of K and 12 isoflavones. Potassium fertilization did not increase (P ≤ 0.05) grain yield, K concentration, or isoflavones concentration at sites where STK was above optimum for soybean. However, it increased grain K concentration and uptake consistently and yield and isoflavones concentration less consistently in other sites with STK Low or Optimum for soybean. On average across responsive sites, K fertilization increased K uptake 20%, yield 11%, K concentration 10%, and total isoflavones 6%. Isoflavones response to K was explained by response of total daidzein and genistein (total glycitein did not respond). Relationships between STK, concentration of K and isoflavones in grain, and grain yield often were positive and significant within sites but seldom across sites. Potassium fertilization increased yield and isoflavones concentrations only when STK was below optimum levels for crops but did not increase yield or isoflavones concentrations in high-testing soils. Relationships within and across locations indicated that the concentration of isoflavones in grain decreased or was unrelated with grain K concentration. Therefore, grain K concentration alone is not a good index of potential effects of K fertilization on isoflavones concentration in soybean grain

DIPLOMADO DE PROFUNDIZACION CISCO PRUEBA DE HABILIDADES PRÁCTICAS CCNP

En este laboratorio de habilidades prácticas se logró verificar los conceptos y conocimientos de redes y telecomunicaciones adquiridos en el diplomado de profundización CCNP, en las 4 partes implementadas se trabajó temas de conmutación, direccionamiento, DHCP, portchannel, vlans. Este trabajo se realizó en GNS3 donde se realizó toda la configuración requerida para los equipos cisco entre los cuales encontramos routers, switchs y PC. De esta manera se confirmó los conocimientos adquiridos durante el diplomado. Palabras Clave: escenario, CISCO, CCNP, OSPF, Enrutamiento, Redes, BGP, GNS3In this laboratory of practical skills, it was possible to verify the concepts and knowledge of networks and telecommunications acquired in the CCNP deepening diploma, in the 4 implemented parts, topics of switching, addressing, DHCP, portchannel, vlans were worked on. This work was carried out in GNS3 where all the configuration required for the Cisco equipment was carried out, among which we find routers, switches and PCs. Transition to virtual education at University of San Carlos of Guatemala 2020

[EN] The transition from traditional teaching to virtual teaching in public institutions of higher education (PIHE) is a process that began with the first computers in the 20th century, which has been accelerated by the Covid 19 pandemic, forcing the PIHE to adopt new virtual learning environments for which the traditional educational model was not designed at the University of San Carlos de Guatemala (USAC). The global characteristics of the Covid 19 pandemic have affected USAC, who had to adapt various methodologies with the support of ICT to continue the educational process. The implementation and use of these technologies evidenced a digital divide both in cognitive processes and in the use and access of digital tools. The study addressed the trends of use and access to technology in three case studies at the campus of USAC in Guatemala City: Architecture, Humanities and Economic Sciences, with a sample of 2,128 students, who responded through a Google form survey instrument, interviews and a forum, from February to may 2020. The results are that different socioeconomic levels affect the access and use of technology for the educational process, which is why it is necessary for PIHE to adopt policies and strategies that guarantee education.Ramirez, M.; Ruiz, O. Multiatributte Double Sampling Control Chart

In recent years, multiattribute control charts have received an increasing attention. These charts are able to monitor two or more attributes in the same chart. In addition, there are many applications of multiatributte control charts in a wide variety of manufacturing processes and services. In this article, a multiattribute double sampling (DS D2) control chart is proposed. Double sampling is a methodology used to improve the efficiency of a control chart to detect quality issues without increase the sampling. Mitochondrial dysfunction promoted by Porphyromonas gingivalis lipopolysaccharide as a possible link between cardiovascular disease and periodontitis

Oxidative stress is one of the factors that could explain the pathophysiological mechanism of inflammatory conditions that occur in cardiovascular disease (CVD) and periodontitis. Such inflammatory response is often evoked by specific bacteria, as the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) of Porphyromonas gingivalis is a key factor in this process. The aim of this research was to study the role of mitochondrial dysfunction in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from periodontitis patients and to evaluate the influence of LPS on fibroblasts to better understand the pathophysiology of periodontitis and its relationship with CVD. PBMCs from patients showed lower CoQ10 levels and citrate synthase activity, together with high levels of ROS production. LPS-treated fibroblasts provoked increased oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction by a decrease in mitochondrial protein expression, mitochondrial mass, and mitochondrial membrane potential. Our study supports the hypothesis that LPS-mediated mitochondrial dysfunction could be at the origin of oxidative stress in periodontal patients. Abnormal PBMC performance may promote oxidative stress and alter cytokine homeostasis. In conclusion, mitochondrial dysfunction could represent a possible link to understanding the interrelationships between two prominent inflammatory diseases: periodontitis and CV

El gobierno corporativo en la cooperativa de Trabajo Asociado Recuperar

En consonancia con lo definido por la Organización Internacional de las Cooperativas de Producción Industrial, Artesanal y de Servicios, o CICOPA, las cooperativas de trabajo asociado CTA, funcionan bajo los postulados definidos en los principios y valores cooperativos y los modelos de gestión, en donde se vincula el trabajo personal de los asociados y sus aportes económicos, con el propósito de orientarlos a la producción de bienes y servicios en forma autogestionaria. En esta investigación se pretende mostrar, por medio de un estudio de caso en profundidad, como en el país es posible implementar la figura del Gobierno Corporativo para el logro y cumplimiento de los objetivos y las metas organizacionales, en una cooperativa de trabajo asociado, denominada Recuperar (CTA). En este sentido Recuperar (CTA) se ha consolidado, logrando una sostenibilidad económica y social, producto de una administración con proyección empresarial y solidaria, que responde a las necesidades de los asociados y al cumplimiento del modelo de Gobierno Corporativo como se muestra a lo largo de esta investigación.In line with that defined by the International Organization of Industrial Production Cooperatives, Handicraft and Services, or CICOPA, the CTA worker cooperatives, operate under the principles defined in the cooperative principles and values and management models, where link the individual work of partners and their economic contributions, in order to orient them to the production of goods and services on a self-administration. This research aims to show, through a case study in depth, and in the country to deploy the figure of Corporate Governance for the attainment and achievement of the objectives and organizational goals in a worker cooperative, called Lost (CTA).
