Facteurs associés au surpoids chez l'enfant et l'adolescent

La prévalence élevée du surpoids et de l'obésité chez l'enfant et l'importance de leurs conséquences à court et long terme nécessitent l'organisation d'une prévention et d'une prise en charge optimales. Notre objectif a été d'étudier les facteurs associés au surpoids dans la petite enfance et l'adolescence. Chez le jeune enfant, nous avons pu mettre en évidence le rôle des antécédents familiaux de surpoids et de diabète, du statut pondéral précoce et des facteurs environnementaux (en particulier la télévision). Chez l'adolescent, nous avons montré que le surpoids était associé négativement au niveau d'aisance financière familiale, à la prise quotidienne d'un petit-déjeuner et à la pratique d'activité physique dans les deux sexes, et positivement avec le fait de regarder la télévision chez les filles uniquement. The objective of this research work was to study the factors associated with overweight, in young children, on one hand, and in adolescents on the other. In young children, we have shown the importance of family antecedents of overweight and diabetes, early weight status and environmental factors (particularly television viewing). In adolescents, we have shown that overweight was negatively associated with family affluence, daily breakfast consumption and practicing physical activity. Television viewing was also associated with overweight in girls only. The etiology of overweight is complex. Soft Law and the International Law of the Environment

Because the existing body of international environmental law has, in part, emerged on the basis of soft norms, it provides a good field for observing the general sociological and juridical phenomenon termed soft law. The 1972 Stockholm Declaration adopted by the UN Conference on the Human Environment, for example, constitutes the normative program for the world community \u27in this field. Although, from a formal point of view, the Declaration is only a nonbinding resolution, many of its principles, particularly Principle 21, have been relied upon by governments to justify their legal rights and duties. The subsequent State practice has been, no doubt, influenced by such provisions. Characterizing the Feeding Habits of the Testate Amoebae Hyalosphenia papilio and Nebela tincta along a Narrow "Fen-Bog" Gradient Using Digestive Vacuole Content and (13)C and (15)N Isotopic Analyses.

International audiencePopulation dynamics and feeding habits of the testate amoebae Nebela tincta and Hyalosphenia papilio were studied along a short "fen" to "bog" gradient in a Sphagnum-dominated mire (Jura, France). Samples were collected in living "top segments" (0-3cm) and early declining "bottom segments" (3-6cm) of Sphagnum fallax peat. Observations of digestive vacuole content and stable isotope analyses ((13)C and (15)N) were used to establish the feeding behavior of both testate amoeba species. Owing to their vertical distribution, the feeding habit of H. papilio was described from top segments, and that of N. tincta from bottom segments. Among identified food sources, those most frequently ingested by N. tincta were spores and mycelia of fungi (55%), microalgae (25%) and cyanobacteria (8.5%). For H. papilio, the most frequently ingested prey were ciliates (55%) and microalgae (35%). Nonmetric Multidimensional Scaling analysis clearly demonstrated that the two species did not have the same feeding habit along the "fen-bog" gradient, and furthermore that a significant spatial split exists in the feeding behavior of H. papilio. Additionally, isotope analyses suggested that H. papilio and N. tincta did not have the same trophic position in the microbial food web, probably resulting from their different feeding strategies
