In children/young people with Cerebral Palsy (CP), the motor limitations impacting the functional limitations and, consequently, decreased participation in occupations. Manifestations of different PC from individual to individual, they will reflect differently, depending on the severity, frame, physical and social environment and different levels of participation. Objetive: The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between age, gender and degree of motor impairment and participation in children/young people with cerebral palsy aged between 5 and 18 years on the island of São Miguel. Sample and Methods: 25 children of both gender (5-18 years), flagged in specialized institutions and rehabilitation centers, like Activities Occupations Centers on the island of São Miguel – Azores. We applied two evaluation instruments to children/young people, Gross Motor Function Measure and Quality of Upper Extremity Skills Test, and the other two instruments were delivered to the parents for self-fulfillment, Assessment of Life Habits Scale and Child Health Questionnaire – Parent-Form 50. In the statistical analysis, we used the tests as the Kolmogorov-Smirnov, T-test or Mann- Whitney, Fisher's exact test, Spearman test and ANOVA. Results: There were no significant relationships between age and sex, and level of participation of children / young people with CP. In contrast, when evaluating the relationship between the degree of participation and the degree of allocation see that this is significant (p = 0.004). Conclusion: In our sample we did not find an influence of age and sex with the frequency of participation (relationships were not significant). However, it can be concluded that children/young people with less physical limitations, such as those involving stage I/II of Gross Motor Function Classification System, present participation levels higher than those with higher levels of motor allocation (Level V)

Em cada área houve apenas uma planta que concentrou as visitas dos polinizadores, que na sua maioria pertenceram à ordem Diptera e tiveram hábitos generalistas; Biodiversity and plant-pollinator interactions in native forest areas of Terceira island (Azores) Abstract: In this work we evaluate the effect of anthropogenic disturbance in native forest communities of Terceira island (Azores) on species richness and on plant-pollinator ecological interactions. We selected paired sampling sites (one well-preserved and one disturbed) in two study areas (Lomba and Pico Galhardo) and we analysed plant-pollinator networks integrity. We found that native species dominate in well-preserved sites whereas in disturbed sites, despite the prevalence of introduced plants, native pollinators play an important role. In each area there was a plant that received most of the insect visits, being these mainly from Diptera order and having generalist behaviour

In this article we analyze important and current questions and challenges caused by changes occurring in the field of family, filiation, and parenthood, and the way contemporaneous authors place themselves regarding them. For this purpose, several fields of knowledge were analyzed such as psychoanalysis, sociology, anthropology, and philosophy. First, the ideas of authors who negatively interpret the emergence of new family arrangements shall be introduced and criticized, with some of them being against the demands made by homosexuals of union and access to filiation. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, the awareness surrounding Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) has increased considerably. The term PPE has become more commonplace, as well as general knowledge about what it is and why it is used. The sector of safety was highly influenced with shortage of supplies. Companies had to adjust their internal processes and methods to respond to the new market necessities. At the same time, PPE is being affected by innovative products and processes. Companies became more competitive with research and product development, and this brings value to the final product. The objective of this research is to demonstrate how the employees of PPE companies got affected by the pandemic, while thinking of innovation. Also, it is aimed to analyze and confirm if COVID-19 affected the innovation processes in the companies. After analyzing the data collected through a questionnaire in two multinational PPE companies, the results reveal the workers of PPE companies are worried about COVID-19, and this fact influenced their initiatives regarding innovation at work during last year. Companies changed their innovation approach, and allowed the workers to get involved in more processes. The uncertainty created by COVID-19 affected the innovation departments of the companies, but in a positive way, by allowing the employees to participate and give their contribution. Innovation must be a continuous process, especially in PPE companies, which are commercializing products that provide health and safety for workers in many different areas.

Seasonal growth characteristics and shading ability of six sugarcane varieties were compared during the second production year. For each variety, trend analysis of data showed a significant linear trend. Differences in shoot emergence among the varieties were observed beginning in early April and as the season progressed, shoot production and shoot height increased for ‘L 97-128’, ‘Ho 95-988’, ‘L 99-226’, and ‘L 99-233’ but lagged for ‘HoCP 96-540’ and ‘LCP 85-384’. Beginning in mid-April ground cover increased most rapidly for L 99-233. In late May ground cover was around 60% for LCP 85-384 and HoCP 96-540; around 70% for L 97-128, Ho 95-988, and L 99-233; and was approaching 90% for L 99-226. Sugarcane canopy height across the growing season was consistently greater for L 97-128 and L 99-233 and averaged 21% more than for the other varieties in early June and 15% more in mid-July. Based on photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) data collected in the row middles, sunlight in the sugarcane canopy at ground level was reduced an average of 61% in early June for L 97-128 and L 99-226 compared with 29% for LCP 85-384 and HoCP 96-540. By late July PAR reduction was equal and averaged 90% for L 97-128, Ho 95-988, L 99-226 and L 99-233 compared with 78% for LCP 85-384 and HoCP 96-540. Shade studies were conducted in fields with natural infestations of bermudagrass and johnsongrass using enclosures (0.61 x 0.61 x 0.61m) covered with shade cloth providing 30, 50, 70 and 90% shade. At 55 days, bermudagrass ground cover under full sunlight was 88% compared with 10% for 90% shade; above ground biomass for 90% shade was reduced 95%. Exposure to 90% shade for 35 days decreased johnsongrass plant population 86% and above ground biomass 90%. With 30% shade, dry weight of bermudagrass was reduced 30% and johnsongrass biomass was reduced 45%. Based on this research the varieties L 97-128, L 99-226, and L 99-233 should be competitive with bermudagrass and johnsongrass. In contrast, the open canopy of HoCP 96-540 would be conducive to weed reinfestation

Drama in the service of mathematics and social justice

In this essay, I argue that drama can be put in the service of mathematics education to promote social justice and human rights. The use of basic and simple theatre techniques in the classroom, in particular those involving mapping activities that bring people, land, and numbers together, can enhance the role that mathematics education plays in the fight for justice across the globe. In a world where ethnic cleansing, refugee and immigration chaos, and climate catastrophes are on the rise, human suffering is widespread. It affects 7 billion people worldwide, that is, 99 percent of the population living on planet Earth. Meanwhile, the combined wealth of the richest 1 percent will very likely overtake that of the other 99 percent of people in 2016. The numbers clearly show the situation is quickly getting worse, not better, by any global or local measure. What can we do? This article presents an introduction of a promising attempt sprouting worldwide at bringing mathematics and theatre together to promote a better understanding of the ways in which mathematics can be embodied, brought into our body and under our skin, in order to empower communities to make sense of the world we live in and help create it
