    Education and Power: Teacher's Repression in the Teacher Training Colleges (Spain, 1936-1942)

    This paper begins with a review of the literature on Francoist teacher’s purge. It suggested us that the Teacher Training Schools could have suffered a stronger control, especially if we consider their role in the educational system. Therefore, we shall now focus on this professional purge related to these teachers, that is to say, teachers who will have in their hands the ideology of the future primary teachers. We are looking for the personal file of each teacher and we have the first results after the Boletín Oficial del Estado, BOE (Official State Gazette) where all the resolutions were supposed to be published. The impact of this process on the teacher’s staff was very powerful. This survey tends to contribute to the development of a national overview of the teachers’ purge, including all kind of teachers. We can draw the tentative conclusion that primary teacher’s educators suffered a stronger repression, although there are significant differences when variables like gender and professional standing are taken into account.Universidad de Málaga.     Revisión historiográfica de las tesis realizadas sobre historia de la educación en el franquismo

    El objeto de este trabajo es dar cuenta de las tesis doctorales realizadas acerca de la historia de la educación en España, en las universidades españolas, que tenían como principal objetivo estudiar algún aspecto de la educación en una parte o en todo el franquismo. Hemos utilizado dos fuentes principales como punto de partida: la información que sobre tesis doctorales defendidas se publica anualmente en la Revista Interuniversitaria Historia de la Educación y la base de datos Teseo. Se ha elaborado una base de datos donde recogemos el año de defensa, autor/a, director/a, Universidad, Facultad y título. Esto nos permite presentar distintos cuadros que pueden orientar investigaciones posteriores. La historia de la educación se ha incorporado quizá con cierto retraso al estudio del franquismo, aunque en las últimas tres décadas el esfuerzo ha sido considerable. Observamos un desigual interés por estudiar los dos períodos que hemos establecido (situando 1959 como el año de paso de uno a otro) y predominancia de tesis que eligen el franquismo en conjunto como marco temporal. La educación en los años sesenta y setenta es un campo que ha permitido la introducción de nuevas fuentes (orales, visuales y materiales) y en el que se detectan nuevas perspectivas e intereses.Universidad de Málaga.     The Subandean Ranges (Sierras Subandinas) are placed between the Eastern Cordillera (Cordillera Oriental) to the west and Chaco–pampean Plain to the east, in northwestern Argentina. Stratigraphic and structural studies of this geological province were carried out by Bonarelli (1913, 1921), Baldis et al.(1975), Mingramm et al. (1979), and Ramos (1999), among others. Ancient deposits of the Subandean Ranges correspond to the Proterozoic and Ordovician System, which are restricted to the western part. Silurian–Devonian rocks of wider distribution integrate a thick marine–deltaic succession tapering to the east, which is linked to a foreland basin (Turner, 1967; Ramos, 1999). The Ocloyic unconformity (Turner & Méndez, 1975; Ramos, 1986) separates Lower–Middle Ordovician rocks from Hirnantian and younger deposits (Moya, 1999). The Lower Paleozoic succession is covered by thick marine and continental sequences of Neopaleozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic ages. An angular unconformity is present between ancient deposits and Miocene to Quaternary sediments. The Subandean Ranges show wide east–vergence anticlines, limited by thrusts and overthrusts, whose detachment levels are Silurian–Devonian shales (Ramos, 1999). The structural style of this geological province allows for the identification of the Interandean System to the west, and the Subandean System sensu stricto to the east (Ramos, op. cit.). The Interandean System is separated from the Eastern Cordillera by a thrust (principal interandean thrust of Roeder, 1988), which rises Proterozoic and Eopaleozoic sequences over the Subandean System (Ramos, 1999). The Labrado Hill, Zapla and Puesto Viejo ranges, located in the Interandean System, are brachianticlines with Paleozoic rock cores. The Ordovician (pre–Ocloyic) succession (Zanjón, Labrado, Capillas, and Centinela formations) consists of alternating sandstones and shales with calcareous subordinate levels (Harrington, 1957; Monaldi, 1986). The fossil record is usually scarce in these rocks. The Labrado and Capillas formations bear inarticulate brachiopods, conodonts, trilobites (Thysanopyge argentina), and trace fossils (Cruziana and Skolithos ichnofacies), which indicate an Arenig age. The Capillas Formation includes a more diverse fauna ("Brongniartella zaplensis", "Hoekaspis schlagintweiti", Ctenodonta sp., Lingula sp., nautiloids, and ichnites) that is referred to the Llanvirn. The Centinela Formation yields inarticulate brachiopods, trilobites ("Brongniartella zaplensis"), and skolithos (Monaldi et al., 1986). Post–Ocloyica deposits commence in the upper Ashgill (Hirnantian) and evolve during the Silurian and Devonian. They are bounded by the Chánica unconformity (Late Devonian – Early Carboniferous). The Hirnantian Zapla Formation (Schlagintweit, 1943) is made of clastic heterogeneous deposits with subordinate sandstones and shales, and scarce fossils. The record of Dalmanitina subandina allowed to referring this unit to the Hirnantian (Monaldi & Boso, 1987). The glacial or glaci–marine origin attributed to this formation is linked to the presence of striate and facet clasts (cf., Turner, 1964; Boso, 1999).     The Purmamarca area, eastern cordillera, Jujuy province

    The Purmamarca village is placed ca 50 km to northwest of Jujuy City, on the western side of the Quebrada de Humahuaca, Tumbaya Department, Jujuy Province (Figure 5). Within the general context of the Quebrada de Humahuaca, it is one of the most picturesque areas of the Argentina for tourism, and was recently declared by UNESCO cultural heritage of the humanity. From a geological point of view, it is a classical locality for the study of lower Paleozoic rocks of the Eastern Cordillera (e.g., Keidel, 1917; Kobayashi, 1936, 1937; Harrington, 1938; De Ferrariis, 1940; Harrington & Leanza, 1957; Ramos et al., 1967; Rao et al., 1994; Tortello, 1996; Tortello & Aceñolaza, 1999). Graywakes, quartzites and slates of the Puncoviscana Formation (Upper Precambrian – Lower Cambrian) constitute the basement of the Eastern Cordillera. Ichnofossils of Vendian/Tommotian age were recorded in this formation by Aceñolaza et al. (1999). These authors described the ichnogenusProtichnites from strata of the Puncoviscana Formation exposed at Purmamarca (Aceñolaza et al., 1999). The dominantly sandstone sequences of the Mesón Group (Lower Cambrian), unconformably overlie the Puncoviscana Formation (Tilcara unconformity) (Turner & Méndez, 1975; Moya, 1999). The Iruya unconformity (Turner, 1960) separates the successions of the Mesón Group from the Lower to Middle Ordovician Santa Victoria Group (Santa Rosita and Acoite formations) (Turner, 1960), and equivalent units.Fil: Ortega, Gladys del Carmen.     Paleoenvironmental and sequence stratigraphic framework of the Cambrian–Ordovician transition in the Angosto del Moreno area, Northwest Argentina

    The Cambrian–Ordovician transition has been the focus of a series of biostratigraphic studies in Northwest Argentina (e.g., Benedetto, 1977; Aceñolaza, 1983; Aceñolaza and Aceñolaza, 1992; Rao and Hunicken, 1995; Tortello and Aceñolaza, 1999). However, there is a remarkable absence of detailed stratigraphic sections and only a few studies deal with the associated sedimentary facies and the sequence stratigraphic framework of the Cambrian–Ordovician successions (Moya, 1998; Buatois and Mángano, in press). This has historically precluded a more accurate biostratigraphic zonation and placing of the Cambrian–Ordovician boundary. The aim of this paper is, therefore, to provide a paleoenvironmental and sequence stratigraphic framework for the Cambrian–Tremadocian succession exposed at the Angosto del Moreno area, in the southwest region of the Eastern Cordillera, Jujuy Province. Although this paper is focused on this particular section, information from other areas in Eastern Cordillera has been used for the recognition of allostratigraphic surfaces and stratal stacking patterns. We emphasize that integrated paleontologic (body and trace fossils), sedimentologic and sequence stratigraphic studies are essential in biostratigraphy.     Late Cambrian – Tremadocian faunas and events from Angosto del Moreno Section, Eastern Cordillera, Argentina

    The Santa Victoria Group (SVG, late Upper Cambrian – Caradocian) comprises pre–Ashgillian Ordovician deposits of the Argentinean Eastern Cordillera. The most significant section of the SVG in the western flank of the Eastern Cordillera is located in the Angosto del Moreno area (Figure 1a, b). At this locality, the SVG unconformably overlies the Mesón Group (Cambrian s.l.), and unconformably underlies Cretaceous rocks (Yacoraite Formation). Upper Cambrian to lower Lower Ordovician units are separated from upper Lower to Middle Ordovician units (Parcha and Sepulturas formations) by the Tumbaya unconformity (Figure 2). The Angosto del Moreno Section of the SVG is exceptional in terms of the quality of exposures, continuity of deposits, richness of fossils, and accessibility. Diverse aspects concerning the Ordovician geology of this study area have been discussed by Moya et al. (1994, 1998), Moya and Albanesi (2000), Moya and Monteros (2000), Malanca and Brandán (2000), and Gómez Martínez et al. (2002). Previous data and recent paleontological collections enable a preliminary biostratigraphic scheme (Figure 2) for the Upper Cambrian to Tremadocian units of the SVG.     Surgical safety and filling-in of the records about intraoperative information in Spain: A comparative analysis of two recording instruments

    El objetivo del presente estudio es describir y comparar los porcentajes de no cumplimentación de dos instrumentos de registro: hoja circulante (HC) y lista de verificación quirúrgica (LVQ), en un mismo entorno quirúrgico para una muestra de pacientes de características similares. Metodología: Estudio descriptivo realizado sobre registros intraquirúrgicos de 3024 pacientes de Cirugía de Ortopedia y Traumatología. 1732 pacientes intervenidos en 2009 con modelo de hoja circulante, cumplimentada al finalizar la intervención y 1292 en 2010 intervenidos con modelo de registro lista de verificación quirúrgica (checklist) cumplimentado durante la intervención en tres tiempos. Se han calculado características descriptivas (media, desviación típica, mínimo y máximo) del porcentaje de no cumplimentación global en ambos registros y el porcentaje de no cumplimentación (intervalo de confianza al 95%) de cada ítem de los registros estudiados. Resultados: Se observa mayor porcentaje de cumplimentación global y, en general, también individual, en la hoja circulante que en la lista de verificación quirúrgica. Conclusiones: El registro intraquirúrgico que mayor porcentaje de cumplimentación ha tenido de manera global ha sido la hoja de circulante y se evidencia la necesidad de implantar estrategias para mejorar el grado de cumplimentación de la LVQ por su relación con la seguridad de pacientes.The objective of this study is to describe and compare the percentages of non-filling-in two recording instruments: Current sheet and surgical checklist in the same surgical setting for a sample of patients with similar characteristics. Methods: Descriptive study carried out with the intraoperative records of 3024 patients from Orthopedic Surgery and 1732 patients who were operated in 2009 with current sheet model completed at the end of the surgery and 1292 patients in 2010 with surgical checklist as recording model, completed during the intervention in three stages. Descriptive characteristics (mean, standard deviation, minimum and maximum) were calculated from the overall percentage of non-completion in both records, as well as the non-filling-in percentage (and confidence interval at 95%) of each item of the records studied. Results: A higher overall – and also individual, in general- percentage of filling-in is observed in the current sheet than in the surgical checklist. Conclusions: In general terms, the intraoperative recording with the highest percentage of being filled-in has been the circulating sheet and it has been observed the necessity to implement strategies to improve the level of filling-in due to its relationship with surgical clinical safety

    Density and viscosity measurements of (piperazine + water) and (piperazine + 2-dimethylaminoethanol + water) at high pressures

    Producción CientíficaThe purpose of this paper is broadening the understanding of amine solution behaviour through the experimental measurements of density (up to 140 MPa) and viscosity (up to 100 MPa) in a temperature range from (293.15 to 393.15) K. The two selected blends are Piperazine (PZ) + Water (10% amine weight concentration) and Piperazine (PZ) + 2-Dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE) + Water (10% and 30% amine weight concentration, respectively). Densities were measured using a vibrating tube densimeter (Anton Paar DMA HPM) with an expanded uncertainty (k = 2) less than 0.7 kg·m-3. Viscosities were obtained using a falling body viscometer which was calibrated with water and dodecane. The viscosity expanded uncertainty (k = 2) ranges from 2.5% for the highest viscosity to 3.2% for the lowest one.     Role of the LPA1 receptor in mood and emotional regulation

    Depression is a debilitating psychiatric condition characterized by anhedonia and behavioural despair among others symptoms. Despite the high prevalence and devastating impact of depression, underlying neurobiological mechanisms of mood disorders are still not well known. Regardless its complexity, central features of this disease can be modelled in rodents in order to better understand the potential mechanisms underlying. On the other hand, the lack of LPA1 receptor compromises the morphological and functional integrity of the limbic circuit and the neurogenesis in hippocampus, induces cognitive alterations on hippocampal-dependent tasks and dysfunctional coping of chronic stress, provokes exaggerated endocrine responses to emotional stimuli and impairs adaptation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis after chronic stress. Factors, which all have been related with depression. Here, we sought to establish the involvement of the LPA1 receptor in regulation of mood and emotion. To this end, in wild-type and maLPA1-null mice active coping responses to stress were examined using the forced swimming test (FST). To assess hedonic behaviour saccharine preference test and female urine sniffing test were used. Our data indicated that the absence of the LPA1 receptor significantly affected to coping strategies. Thus, while null mice displayed less immobility than wt in FST, exhibited more climbing and less swimming behaviour, responses that could be interpreted as an emotional over-reaction (i.e., a panic-like response) to stress situations. Concerning hedonic behaviour, the lack of the LPA1 receptor diminished saccharin preference and female urine sniffing time. Overall, these data supports the role of LPA1 receptor in mood and emotional regulation. Specially, the lack of this receptor induced emotional dysregulation and anhedonic behaviour, a core symptom of depression.Universidad de Málaga, Campus de Excelencia Andalucía Tech.
