A literatura de Orlando Costa : reflexões sobre uma trilogia em tempo de colonialismo

Dissertação de Mestrado em Estudos Portugueses Interdisciplinares apresentada à Universidade AbertaA obra literária de Orlando da Costa é actualmente uma das poucas, em língua portuguesa, a nos conduzir pelos conflitos sociais e humanos da sociedade goesa durante o salazarismo. Os críticos literários consideram a sua forma de escrever envolvente e delatora, qualidades sublimes numa obra de intensa manifestação de valores ideológicos e humanos. Realçar essas qualidades literárias e identificar outras foi um dos nossos objectivos. O Signo da Ira, O Ultimo Olhar de Manú Miranda e Sem Flores Nem Coroas, aprofundam e exploram as memórias da história colonial portuguesa na Índia. A presente dissertação pretende demonstrar a importância histórico-social desta tríade de ficção sobre Goa que o escritor nos deixou.The literary work of Orlando da Costa is currently one of the few, in Portuguese language, to drive us through the social and human conflicts of Goan society during the salazarismo. Literary critics consider his style of writing compelling and informing, sublime qualities in a work of intense demonstration of ideological and human values. To highlight those literary qualities and identify others was one of our objectives. O Signo da Ira, O Último Olhar de Manú Miranda, and Sem Flores Nem Coroas deepen and explore the memorie of the Portuguese colonial history in India. Acção educativa: um projecto integrador em contexto

A presente comunicação pretende dar a conhecer o desenvolvimento de um projecto integrador em contexto de 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico, com 22 crianças do 1.º ano de escolaridade. Para a sua implementação partiu-se do pressuposto de que as áreas disciplinares devem ser exploradas na pluralidade dos seus contextos e funções envolvendo a palavra como instrumento de expressão e dando forma a experiências individuais e colectivas. Este projecto veio confirmar que o conhecimento científico se constrói através de um processo de interacção da criança com os objectos do conhecimento, da partilha e da negociação de representações pessoais

Os currículos de formação inicial de professores: aproximações e distanciamentos em dois países europeus

A implementação do processo de Bolonha veio introduzir alterações estruturais na formação inicial de professores. Os currículos de cursos de formação inicial de professores expressam essas novas configurações e a sua análise permite conhecer as competências que são privilegiadas pelas diferentes instituições de ensino superior. Com este estudo pretendemos compreender as semelhanças e diferenças dos currículos de formação inicial de professores nos cursos que habilitam para a docência, no ensino secundário, de duas instituições de ensino superior, uma em Portugal e outra na Irlanda, tendo sido selecionada a área das ciências físicas e naturais. Neste sentido, utilizando uma metodologia qualitativa de estudo de caso múltiplo, foi efetuada a análise qualitativa de conteúdo de documentos oficiais e institucionais, procurando-se compreender como se estruturam os referidos cursos e a importância que neles é atribuída à prática. Apesar destes programas se inserirem no Espaço Europeu de Ensino Superior e de serem fortemente definidos centralmente, conclui-se que existem diferenças na oferta formativa de ambas as instituições e na organização curricular da formação, sendo de realçar a acentuada discrepância do número de horas de prática em contexto escolar que um e outro contemplam. Formar leitores: o elogio de um modelo

A presente investigação tem como objectivo primeiro saber que competências leitoras têm os nossos alunos e, consequentemente, aprofundar estudos acerca do(s) lugares da leitura, uma vez que estes têm evoluído ao longo dos tempos. Dos aspectos relativos à superfície do texto, passou-se para uma perspectiva de leitura onde o leitor tem um papel fundamental ao interagir com este. Sem o leitor, o texto poderá permanecer uma mensagem inerte e sem sentido, cuja vida jamais ganhará. Investigações várias tanto nacionais como internacionais, vêm demonstrando que os alunos fracos em leitura não conseguem inserir-se na vida activa e fazer parte da sociedade a que pertencem. Ser um leitor pouco competente significa não fazer parte do mundo de hoje. O nosso trabalho, para além de apresentar uma síntese acerca dos conceitos de leitura e aprendizagem desta, apresenta resultados com os alunos da nossa escola, interpreta-os e propõe estratégias que, em nosso entender, num trabalho mais alargado no tempo, poderão, indiscutivelmente, conduzir a bons resultados.The present research is aimed at, firstly, knowing which reading skills our students have and secondly, widening the range of our studies about the place(s) where reading takes place, since these have changed over the years. This research moves from aspects related to the text surface, to a perspective on reading where the reader fulfils a fundamental role when he/she interacts with it. Without the reader, the text might remain an inert and senseless message, which will never come alive. Various researchers, both national and international, have been demonstrating that students who are weak readers are not able to lead an active life in and fully become part of the society to which they belong. To be a less competent reader means not to be a part of the world of today. Our work, besides presenting a synthesis of the concepts of reading and its learning, also presents results, drawn from the students of our school, and their interpretation. Furthermore, it presents some strategies which, in our understanding, could, given more time to work with them, undoubtedly lead to very satisfying results

Índice de massa corporal e (in)satisfação sexual: estudo correlacional

A alimentação e a sexualidade emergem como necessidades básicas do homem, dependentes de conexões de múltiplos sistemas envolvidos (muscular, neuro-endócrino, metabólico e reprodutor) mas também componentes de emoções, sentimentos, prazer. Métodos: Estudo exploratório de caracter quantitativo envolvendo uma amostra de 306 pacientes de ambos os géneros, com idades compreendidas entre os 18 e os 65 anos. De forma a conhecer o nível de Satisfação Sexual de acordo com o Índice de Massa Corporal (IMC) utilizou-se como instrumentos de recolha de dados o Índice de Satisfação Sexual (ISS) e a recolha de dados antropométricos. Resultados: Verificou-se que existe relação entre o ISS e o IMC,onde o valor médio de ISS é tanto mais elevado quanto mais elevado é o Grau de Obesidade. Conclusão: Os resultados indicam, e de acordo com o IMC que os indivíduos apresentavam, existirem grupos insatisfeitos com a sua sexualidade.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Subjective perception of sexual achievement - an exploratory study on people with overweight

The literature reports that Body Mass Index (BMI) changes are directly related to sexual interest. Individuals with overweight and obesity selfreport fewer sexual partners and are less likely to have a romantic relationship compared to their non-obese counterparts. The objectives of this work are to know the level of perceived sexual achievement, in overweight people with the Binge Eating Scale (BES) and to study the association between age and the perception of quality of sex in people with overweight are the objectives of this work. An exploratory and quantitative study was developed, based on a sample of 218 patients of both genders, aged between 18 and 65 years. Data was collected in various hospitals of northern and central Portugal with the Sexual Satisfaction Index (SSI) being used for this purpose. Of all participants, 64.5 % expressed overweight. On a scale of 0 to 100, the SSI was, on average, 26.7 (SD = 14.6). On average, Individuals with severe poor scores on the BES registered the highest level of sexual dissatisfaction. There were, statistically, significant differences in the SSI, among individuals with and without overweight. Dissatisfaction is greater the more advanced the age of participants. Contrary to what is reported in the literature, there was no difference between individuals with and without overweight according to the number of sexual partners. The Drama of J.M. Synge : a challenge to the ideology and myths of Irishness

Opinions about Synge's work vary from redundant noise to van-guardist art, or the embodiment of the spirit of the Nation. The literary mask created by Yeats and the disparaging caricature his opponents publicised, have barred access to the unbiased study of his work documents. Synge's plays changed the course of the emerging National Theatre. Yeats's plays were attacked for not serving well enough the nationalist cause, but Synge's were seen by nationalists as working completely on the other side of the fence. This argument and the poetical fallacy of Synge's political inactivity are here reappraised. For the nationalists both his witting silence and his social and family background caused aggravation which found opportunity to be voiced at each production of his plays. What still disturbs in the plays is the interaction between individuals and social groups. The exchanges between characters, the progress or stasis of individual characters through the play, the continual change of perspective forced on the audience, these are the features that still strike a controversial note today. Synge is here seen as a "colonizer who refuses" as he frees himself from family strict rule. The first two chapters analyse the historical and personal evolution towards a native Irish Theatre in English. The following chapters study the process by which each play diverts the expectations it arouses in the audience, following the genesis of each play through its source material when possible, to see how some controversial images and dialogues were arrived at, where they acquired their polemic weight. This part of the study focuses on the writing methods of Synge, and the "reading formation” of the public. The grotesque style of the plays and prose is found to be similar in tone to the Rabelaisian grotesque: both share the hope of regeneration in life's forces and nature, as opposed to a strict Christianity. Synge's use of grotesque shattered aesthetic and philosophical expectations in his intellectual audience, causing the anger among the nationalists and the literary coterie. The particular depiction of women's roles in his plays are compared with Victorian and modern patterns of female behaviour. In the plays Nature is seen not as the bucolic "locus" for philosophical self-contemplation, but as nurturer and threat for its original dwellers. The knowledge of and closeness to the forces of Nature elicit respect for outsiders as possessing a valuable culture, either in isolation or organised in marginal societies. The outcasts in Irish society are given an articulate voice in Synge's plays: beggars, vagrants, tinkers, the blind and women. In all plays strong female characters assert themselves in unorthodox ways, defying custom and legend. The use of legend in his last play shows Synge as heralding the end of a mythologising era, presenting legendary events issuing not from fate but personal heroic decision, that of a woman who choses her life and death, following her own values
